Chris Simms Released
Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have cut quarterback Chris Simms.
Simms is not eligible for waivers, which means he becomes an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any team he chooses.
One team that may be interested in Simms’ services is Chicago, where starter Kyle Orton and backup Rex Grossman don’t inspire much confidence. Although Caleb Hanie is on the Bears’ roster as the third quarterback right now, it seems likely that he could be out of work and the Bears could make an offer to Simms.
Simms started 15 games in five years for Tampa Bay.
What do you guys think? Are we still in need of another quarterback, or are we just fine with Brad Johnson and Rich Bartel?

I'll say this much
Chicago is crazy not to sign him for a look. There is going to be a house-cleaning there soon. How many consecutive years can you have Orton and Grossman competing for a job when they’ve both proved with exhaustive evidence that they suck?

Per Mosely
We’re after Simms and/or Bollinger.
Third-team quarterback Richard Bartel came close to making the team, but he ended up being the last man on the chopping block. I’m hearing that the Cowboys are actively pursuing quarterbacks Chris Simms and Brooks Bollinger. If they don’t get either player, Bartel will once again be on the practice squad.

this is what I've been waiting for
We got to jump at the chance
now I don’t know if we straight up cut BJ or wait a couple of weeks till Simms learns the offense or what, but you’d think he’d learn the offense before he’d get any PT

It's going to take more than a couple of weeks
for Simms or anyone else to learn Garrett’s offense, especially a quarterback. And he will get next to no practice reps now that the games start counting. BJ will be around for most, if not all of, the rest of the year.

It would be a good move for...
the bears to sign simms they need qb help….i feel brad could move this team if he was needed to for a few weeks……but simms should go to a team where he can compete for a starting spot…..

he's not starter material....
otherwise Tampa wouldn’t have kept 4 QB’s they felt were better than him…

Simms is horrible
I keep pointing out all the players with better QB ratings than Simms (Bolinger is one). WHY exactly is Simms better than Bollinger if Simms has one of the worst QB ratings of any Free Agent QB out there? I know some of you say QB ratings don’t matter. Ok. Then what makes Simms better?
