Welcome Back Keith Davis
The Cowboys have agreed in principle to resign Keith Davis, the former safety/special teams monster who was signed away by Miami just last March. Davis is already in Dallas and the contract is expected to be finalized Monday.
Davis' arrival means that the Cowboys will have to make another decision just hours after finalizing the 53-man roster.
Talk about the weird business of the NFL. Davis was an unrestricted free agent after spending five seasons in Dallas.

Welcome Back Keith.
God knows we need special teams help. I still think he could hold down Roy’s spot on defense. He’s a slight upgrade in coverage, and a push in the hit department.

He's more than a special teams player
Hell yeah I’m excited we got KD Back! hes been around since 02, not many cowboys have been roaming valley ranch longer. What I’m sick of hearing is that all he can do is play special teams. thats bs. Like GloryDayz88 said he filled in for roy last year against carolina and play’d great. I think he could start at strong safety and be just fine. Now if he was forced to play alongside roy instead of Ken Hamlin it would be a diffent story. He should also provide anoer vocal leader for the guys. He was usualy the one getting the special teams pumped up before the game.

He's nothing more than a special teamer
This is a lateral move IMO, he was on the roster last year and our special teams weren’t that great. He’s the cheaper version of Roy Williams, who will be gone next year, Davis also cant cover. We now finally take Roy off the field on passing downs and replace him with either Henry or Watkins. So tell me where is Davis going to contribute this year other than Special teams coverage. This move is clearly a Jerry Jones move…
And you have to ask yourself, if he is so good as a special teams player, players bill parcell likes, then why would Miami cut him, and why after he had a plane ticket and room for their road game, and before the cuts needeed to be made. what happened there???
Now we’ll have to cut a player if we dont make a trade with some upside for a player that doesn’t have any in davis, thats a lateral move or a step back move imo…

Davis was cut
because he had a shoulder injury he was recovering from which ruined his chances at competing for a starting safety job in training camp.
Still sounds fishy to me. I think it’s great to have a veteran special-teamer back on the squad, but I don’t know if this improves the team much. We already have a thousand DBs, why we need another I don’t know.
That #38 sure should wrap up!

+1 totally agree....
A true diehard Cowboys fan since 1975.
"If you don’t take him off the field as a coach, he will just about die out there," Jerry Jones said. "That impacted my decision. It’s a Michael Irvin-type work ethic. That’s what we are talking about with Felix Jones."

Per Mosley
Davis was cut because he told the Dolphins to cut him if he didn’t have a chance to start. Mosley had it on Hashmarks a few days back. I’m not sure if that’s the whole story, but perhaps he figured if he wasn’t going to start, might as well be for the team he’s been with the longest and that has the best chance of winning.
I like the move, but admit it is totally one-dimensional.

Glad he's coming back
Killer on ST, but he’s not as good as Roy at SS. The game he filled in for Roy, he was blown out of a play that led to a big gain, and he’s horrible at FS. He can hit hard, but still, not as hard as Roy. He’d be a decent backup at SS, that’s it. ST is his bread and butter. Let’s be real, the Cowboys aren’t bringing him back for his safety skills.
