Article on Zach Thomas
OXNARD, Calif. -- Zach Thomas understands the perception some people have after his abbreviated final season in Miami, though he doesn't agree with it.
"They labeled me with that, as prone for concussions," he said. "Everybody just thinks I'm some guy out here that's punch drunk, running around."
Now Thomas looks forward to the opportunity to prove them wrong.
If he seems confused at times during the Dallas Cowboys training camp, that is because Thomas is trying to learn and adjust to a new defense -- not aftereffects of a concussion and migraines that limited the seven-time Pro Bowl linebacker to five games last season.

I anticipate big things and look forward to watching Zack this season.....like always....
he’s going to prove the skeptics wrong….AGAIN…......he will be the #1 reason our defense will lead the league this year.

You don't think adding a potential lock down corner could be a reason, too?

who was ever skeptical of Thomas?
people are concerned about his ability to take a helmet to helmet hit since he had concussion syndrome last year that cost him over half the season with continuing headaches, that’s a concern, that’s not being skeptical. No one questions his ability. The dolphins cut him because of his age, salary and there is a complete overhaul to a youth movement underway in Miami.

I think Deke was saying
That the concussions are a reason for concern, but there’s no reason to be skeptical of his play when healthy.
I think Thomas is going to be a major addition to this D, one that the MSM is overlooking.

rewind.......Did anyone catch Emmitt Smith's '08 ESPN debut today ???????
damn…...You would think after the severe criticism he must have gotten wind after last season’s extremely painful first take at playing broadcaster, he would have done something to improve his game, his speach, his cognitive thinking skills, something…..
Old stuttering marble mouth was at it again stinking up the joint with comments that didn’t even go with the flow of the topic at hand, or were just so difficult to follow or understand, the other guys had to interupt him to keep him from burying himself on day one of preseason studio shows…...thank goodness for chris carter, who’s not all that either but seems to have a better grasp of public speaking and the english language….
Can Emmitt become 2 time “worst sports show commentator in the world award winner…......” in just his second year of doing this ?
Wondering if Berman’s regreting the release of Sean Salisbury after this “debackled” experiment of bringing back Emmitt…...multi year contracts suck..huh Chris ?

well, I disagree
I actually enjoyed listening to his comments, I thought substantive wise, he offered great opinions. He articulation wasn’t the best, but guys like Chris Carter and Marshall Faulk aren’t much better in that regard either.

Oh, he was watchable alright
Who wouldn’t want to watch him? He’s a brilliant fusion of football commentator and surrealist/comedian. I love ya, 22.

sorry Terry......I do love what he did for our beloved Cowboys, and I'll be forever greatful, as I had followed him since his sophmore year in High School, all throughout his stint a U of Florida, and my dream can true on draft day 1990...
We wouldn’t have won any SB’s without him…..and he was a great back…..Not my selection as “best of all time”.......but one of the best Cowboys of all time…
but he somehow annoys me beyond words, and to describe how badly I feel for him struggling to string together even one logical, gramatically correct sentence is truely painful to watch….
I know damn well i’m not the only Cowboy fan that feels the same gut wrenching feeling every time he opens his mouth….

ESPN canned Emmitt from pregame show this year..
As Martha Stewart would say, that’s a good thing!!!
by Deke on Aug 7, 2008 9:14 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
out of respect of a true legend of the game they are even keeping him on to do bit spots on non prime time shows...
i surely would have canned him completely…...and yes Terry…he is as bad as we trash him…..and i’m sorry to say that…cuz i really love the fact we have so many ex Boys that are/were so good as media stars….Moose, Troy, Irvin, Prime, Keshaun, Merideth, etc….even Babe Laufenberg made it….Emmitt…..eck and Emmitt was a communications major at UF…...lmao…go figure….
