The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly!

After reading all of the thoughts about Emmit Smith's Commentary stuff, it inspired me to come up with a list of Commentators, Journalists, Analysts, etc. in Radio or TV.

In no particular order here is my list:

Star-divide

THE GOOD

Mike Greenberg
Mike Golic
Mike Tirico
Scott Van Pelt
Rich Eisen
Adam Schefter
Colin Cowherd
Joe Buck
Troy Aikman

THE BAD

Joe Theisman
Chris Collinsworth
Skip Bailess
Bryant Gumbel
Stephen A. Smith
Andy Gretsch
Sean Salisbury

THE UGLY (They need to be on Radio ONLY)

Jon Clayton
Dan Dierdorf
Tony Cornheiser (although he is good too)
Bill Walton

Really all commentators are paid for HOT AIR.

Another user-created commentary provided by a BTB reader.

Cowherd is terrible

Buck hangs on due to Troy’s greatness, the two ESPN morning guys are very meh.
Gumbel is definitely the worst broadcaster ever to work a nationally-televised event of any sport, though.

I am not a fan of cowherd either..

I like Stephen A. Smith, how do not like Stephen A? He is the anti-skip!

He gives me a migraine

Pretty clearly the first time he has ever looked at a web site. "And there are readers' comments at the bottom! And advertisements for products! And best of all, I won a free iPod!"

As previously stated on this blog,

I watch Madden commentated games on mute. And no, that is not an exaggeration.

Really?

But you’re depriving yourself of so much knowledge about what “the thing about that thing is” and what “this thing here is”.

I like Madden, but the guy definitely has a nonsensical analytical style. His undying love for the Boys of the 90s earned him a special place in my heart/Xbox.

yeah, you're missing out on a lot of comedy

that guy has made me lol more than any other person on TV that I can remember.

it's not primetime football without Madden

That #38 sure can hit!

And I will say

That one of my best friend’s mothers says that Madden is the only football commentator that makes sense to her. Seems insane, I know, but she’s a smart woman. He might use vague words to describe everything, but somehow his meaning comes across well.

Frank Caliento does an impersonation of Madden

that is really good ,and funny too.
He did one recently of Madden talking about Favre’s retirement saying the NFL should cancel the season, why bother playing. Sounded just like him.

I saw Caliendo live

pretty good show, but did too much George Bush and not enough Madden.

That #38 sure can hit!

Joe Buck is a smug a-hole

The only reason he is where he is today is due to his much more talented father Jack Buck.

Ever since the Randy Moss thing...

...where Joe Buck apologized to America for having to see Randy Moss simulate mooning the Green Bay fans, when Buck was gunning for his Emmy, I can’t stand the guy. He was ok before then, but now he just gets on my nerves. Him and Tim McCarver during playoff baseball are insufferable.

I also like Jamie Dukes from NFL Network

Dude is really funny but also is very knowledgeable about the game, being a former OL man.

Dukes is good

and he likes the Cowboys.

by CounterEMF on Aug 8, 2008 4:52 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I like Moose

He and Tony Siragusa are good together. Troy annoys me when he does Cowboys games, because he trying SOOO hard to not seem like a homer.

by WB3forMB3 on Aug 8, 2008 6:37 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I love Troy anyway

Because I know he’s secretly rooting for Dallas. If only he could jettison Joe Buck somehow…

Cowherd is a moron......

never heard such a wavering fool…...and he’s a Cowboy hater as well…..

A true diehard Cowboys fan since 1975.

"If you don’t take him off the field as a coach, he will just about die out there," Jerry Jones said. "That impacted my decision. It’s a Michael Irvin-type work ethic. That’s what we are talking about with Felix Jones."
- Owner/G.M of the Dallas Cowboys , Jerry Jones

Schlereth

Can we put that Cowboy hater at least into the bad.

And Cowherd knows nothing about football and it is evident when he tries to speak about it.
