Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Score for Sunday

What do ya got for the score Sunday and what's your prediction for some notable stats?

Dallas- 28

Cleveland-17

MB3 goes over 100 and has two scores and Witten finds the endzone twice as well...simple enough right? Cleveland struggles to run the ball but gets two deep ball touchdowns one to Edwards and and to Stallworth...plus a field goal.  I'm thinking Hamlin picks off one pass and lets give Newman one as well.

What do ya got?

MBIII – 22 carries-125 yards rushing, 2 receptions-15 yards, 2 TD’s…..

TO – 8 receptions-155 yards receiving, 2TD’s…..

Witten – 6 receptions-96 yards receiving, 1 TD…

 Crayton – 4 receptions-51 yards….

 Stanback – 3 receptions-36 yards…

Bennett – 2 receptions- 19 yards…

sounds more realistic

I don’t think you can discount Cleveland offense, they looked fine the 1st week of the pre-season when they had Braylan..

Braylan is unguardable by one CB, Winslow is a beast, and you have to respect Stallworths speed..

It is going to be a tough game, but I think we put them away in the 4th quarter, like the NYG last year..

doubt it

Newman can handle any WR in the league, and since they’re having receiver injury problems of their own, just roll coverage on Edwards side when any other CB is on him.

Winslow will get his catches, just so long as we keep him out of the endzone.

I think Cleveland is overrated, too bad we didn’t have that 1st rd pick for this season.

true

Good thing is we can use their 1st round pick against them this year Week 1!! Go Felix!

boy did the Cowboys ever get the better

deal of that trade last year.

We get 2 young studs (Jones and Spencer) who have the potential to be stars in this league, and Browns get an overrated and overpaid backup who will never see the field unless Anderson gets hurt.

Fans can make fun of Jerry all they want but he made Phil Savage look like an idiot with this trade.

by Terry on Sep 2, 2008 3:26 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

We had Charlie Frye at the time, and we drafted Brady Quinn. Maybe because Dallas got the players they wanted it’s a great deal for them, but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s a wash for us. You’re acting like we did a direct trade of Jones/Spencer for Quinn.

my question

Do you think Derek Anderson is your franchise QB? Your long term solution?

Yes, I want him to be our franchise QB. Of course, that’ll change if he throws 25 picks this year.

and there’s no question they did.

by ChrisPokorny on Sep 5, 2008 11:45 AM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

At the time

the Browns didn’t forecast Derek Anderson as being as good as he is. They just wanted to find a reliable replacement for Frye.

plus

They aren’t paying Quinn that much money, it is the perfect situation for them. They can groom him or trade him like Shaub..

With all due respect, where are we having receiver injury problems? We literally didn’t have a No. 3 WR last season, so Stallworth just “replaces” Jurevicius for the time being.

Interesting Test For CLE OT's

I’m not a total homer but I think the tackles for Cleveland are overrated because they don’t face NFC East level pass rushers every week. I’m predicting a dominant defense. 21-13.

by JimmyJohnson on Sep 2, 2008 11:46 AM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

If there were to be an overrated part of the line, it’s not the tackles that are overrated, it’s more so the guards.

Joe Thomas is legit

Thomas vs Ware will be a great match up.. Joe Thomas didn’t face a player Ware’s caliber all last year, the closest player would be Patrick Kerney.

A closer game

Would it be any closer if on Wednesday Cleveland recruits 22 miniature Bill Bates’s for all their starters? I can’t predict the final score but the body count would be pretty scary.

by JimmyJohnson on Sep 3, 2008 7:54 AM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

34-13

Cowboys give up a long return leading to an early TD for the Browns, so down 7-0.
Then storm back and go up 24-7 at the half, and then 34-7 before giving up a late TD with failed 2pt conversion for the final score.
TD’s
PC:1
JW:1
felix:1
MB3:1
Folk – 2 FG’s – a chip shot, and a 45+ yarder at the end of the 1st half.

not by kick return.....Cribbs is out for the game...and his back may be too Steptoe...

Derek Anderson is going to crumble like a a sand castle on the beaches of the Mississippi Delta post Huricane Gustav……Look to see Quinn start the second half down 24-10……..

Steptoe is nothing to sneeze at.

He had a KR TD in the preseason about the Gigantes and another long play that almost went for a score.

That also suggests to me that their KR blockers are pretty darn good. One of my best friends is a big time Brown fan and he raves about their ST.

Peter King
Dallas Cowboys (0-0) at Cleveland Browns (0-0)

Ever hear of Eric Wright and Brandon McDonald? You will have Sunday night. They will either be the giant-killer Cleveland corners who shut down Tony Romo. Or, very more likely, they’ll be the guys who got strafed for 378 yards and bear the burden of the Browns’ first loss of the year.

Prediction: Dallas Cowboys 37, Cleveland Browns 31

Eric Wright is a helluva a corner

who came in and grabbed that spot enabling them to trade Leigh Bodden. I would’ve traded somebody else though, but McDonald is pretty good. What’s behind those 2? If it matters, I’d have to do some research.

Starting off on the right.....foot?

Dallas 27
Cleve 17

Dallas leads 14-3 at the half and is up 27-10, until the Browns score a last minute TD to make the score respectable.

TO wears an iScore TD as his line looks as such: 8 catches 123 yrds and 2 tds.
DWare sings “heads-shoulders-knees-and-toes” to Derek Anderson as he sacks him into a concussion (3 times).

I can smell it in the air Boys….I can smell it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Heh…if Ware himself can get to the least-sacked quarterback in the NFL last season against Joe Thomas not once, not twice, but three times, then he’ll be a shoe-in for Defensive Player of the Year.

Dawgs By Nature - Find out why Pittsburgh still sucks.

by ChrisPokorny on Sep 5, 2008 10:45 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Touche

Joe Thomas will be considered the best LT in the League in a year or two.

Hell he might be the best now.

But Phillips in all his infinite defensive wisdom will not have Ware going v. Joe all game long. Surely he’ll have him blitz up the middle or run around the side while they send Z.Thomas/B.James/R.Will up the middle for a blitz. I say he gets one on JT and another (and possibly another via El Blitzos).

Anderson did get glossy-eye, foggy brain via a sack so I will venture to say that either his release will be quicker from now on or you can count on Brady Q taking over for the punch drunk QB.
