Stanback's Wheels....

anybody else notice Stanback's speed on the Felix Jones kick return?  Felix isn't exactly slow, and was running for his life while Stanback was quickly gaining ground on Jones and the Eagle defender to throw a final block (I was actually worried that Stanback was going to block the Eagle coverage guy in the back!).

Anyway...very impressive speed.  I knew this guy was fast for his size (10.38 100m dash in college), but his display Monday was very impressive.  If this guy can ever stay healthy and refine his route running...he is certainly a guy that could stretch the field.  Plus, he's got that rare combination of size and speed that also should make him effective on short/intermediate routes in/near the redzone.

yep!

i saw that too! he looked like he could have run circles around them if he wanted to.

four words: stanback , long bomb, touchdown!

you watch: jason garrett will pull a play like that out of his back pocket when we least expect it…4th quarter of the NFC championship game or something!

Like I've been saying

once he learns how to play the position, he’ll be a beast like T.O. and Brandon Marshall. His size/speed ratio is off the charts and should have every true Cowboys fan salivating.

Didn't the Eagle defender

fake a touch and go to the ground like he had been hit in the back? They were very good at faking penalties that night (see L.J.Smith and Anthony Henry).

I thought he just fell when Felix cut back in.

If you watch the highlights on NFL Network’s On Demand, they slow it down and you can really see that sideways running thing that Wade was talking about. That’s how he dusts Akers when Akers had the angle on him, and he does it at the end of the run so the guy won’t push him out of bounds. I think that must be why in his college highlight reels, so many guys seemed to take bad angles on him.

I really hope Terry’s right and Stanback gets it together soon.

It won't be soon

you have to give him a few more years to be a real force. I think he’s where Austin was last season, next year is where you’ll see a big difference.

i agree

Plus he has time. This year is Austin and Hurd’s time to shine..

The guy fell at the goal line

Stanback pulled up and went out of bounds at the 10. It was hilarious watching that Sheagle eat the dirt though hahaha

Saw that too

And in my mind I thought…

“Guess it’s safe to say that Stanback’s at full strength” — from a speed perspective, that is.

yeah, if he gets time with the first team O..

he could do some good things, he’s fast as hell and he looks tall, does anyone know his hight, weight, and speed……i think terry could be right, i’m not sure he could be a T.O. or marshall but if he gets his routes down with his size and speed it could be sick….

I don't need a compass to know which way the wind shines....

he's 6'2" 210lbs. 4.45 40 range........

great strength, hands, and elusive playmaking ability…….yes….he has a future here in Dallas….regardless of what the 2-3 haters/naysayers say………by the end of next season he’ll be a bigger part of our offense….I don’t see Hurd getting resigned as a free agent, unless he comes back at the minimum. I say he gets picked up by Miami, and we draft a first day WR next season…

I believe Stanback will be battling for the # 2 WR spot next season with Miles Austin, with Crayton moving to his more natural # 3 slot position…

Did you see where

he came from on that play?
He took on a blocker on the right side of the field….then ran all the way across and almost beat Felix to the end zone!
Man…the sad part is he didn’t look like he was going all out.

+1

He made up a lot of ground in a hurry. I sure took notice. That is serious football speed right there.

I can’t wait until he starts proving to be reliable as a WR.

Yeah I saw that on the K.O. return.

Dude can burn. I hope he gets some returns in some lopsided games. No reason to risk Felix with the game out of reach.

+1!!

D is going to have to step up a bit more for that to happen though. Less penalties + better tackling = more 3 and outs.

not giving up on him

but would rather see Felix returning the kickoff, although I`m nervous about both fumbling the ball. Would like to see the Boys stretch the field with Stanback and reverses and maybe even a reverse with Stanback heaving a bomb.

his skills

Are prime to run slants and WR screens were he can his speed and quickness.

I am happy we have Austin back.
