Mickey Spagnola, I'll accept your apology.
So, after the Browns game, I wrote into DC.com, and actually got my letter selected by the website. My letter was very similar to the fanpost that I wrote on this site, addressing my concerns about Tony Romo's ball handling inside of either 20 yard line. I was pretty much pooh-poohed by all of the writers, but the most irritating was Mickey, who of course acted like I didn't know what I was talking about, then put up the Cowboys Red Zone statistics from last year. Of course, he left out the turnovers and bad ball handling in our own 20, and did not point out that though the stats might look decent, they were well below the league average in touchdown% in the Red Zone, and scoring% in the Red Zone.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure this game's done and the Cowboys will win, but through 2.5 games, Romo has thrown 2 interceptions and had 2 fumbles inside the 20s. Unfortunately, it appears that I'm not an idiot.
Mickey and the other writers can just reach me here to apologize and say that they were wrong and don't know nearly as much as they think that they do.

No.
Real champions know that they have to improve every game, not just be happy to win.

I always pick the Cowboys.
They have so much talent, size, speed, and heart, no team in the league should be able to hang with them. The score tonight should have been worse than it was, and last week should have been a blowout, too. It’s not being a disloyal fan to recognize the few weaknesses, especially when they are consistent yet easily corrected.

I'm not hating.
I love Romo, and think he’s the man, but even Deion says that we’ve got to get the ball security inside the 20s in check by the time the postseason rolls around. I’ll take a win any way we can get it, but I’m hoping to see continual improvement and progress toward the goal of winning the Super Bowl. Just winning a playoff game won’t be enough this year, admit it, and to go all the way, we have to be flawless, that includes not fumbling inside the 20 and not throwing dumb picks.

BTW
By the way, this was posted at halftime. As you can see, I could tell then that the Cowboys would win handily.

As Cosmo Kramer says
“he who cureth, can maketh ill.”
Seemed in an interview I saw of Romo, that taking care of the ball and trusting the defense is what he’s taking from this win. He talked about throwing it away and stuff.
That #38 sure should wrap up!

Mickey was right, he owes you no apology
because Romo will be just fine. He’ll throw a pick every once in a while and fumble every now and then, and yes he’ll do it in the red zone sometimes, but so what, he’ll also produce mutiple TDs over the course of the year as well and win games.
Bottom line is that if we need a score, there isn’t a qb in the league I’d rather have behind center than #9.

I wish you were right.
Believe me, I don’t want this to be a problem, but until it’s not, it is. You might have missed the playoff games the past couple of seasons, but they ended with Romo mishandling a snap in the Red Zone, and throwing a pick into the end zone. Mistakes and weaknesses get magnified in the playoffs, and Romo has not shown that he’s made any improvement in this area yet. I don’t understand how you can say it’s not a problem when it has ended the Cowboys’ season 2 years in a row.

very funny potato soup
I wouldn’t call mishandling a snap or throwing a desperation throw in the endzone at the end of a game a problem, actually far from it. Romo was not soley responsible for those losses, the Cowboys lost as a team and Romo didn’t play poorly in those games.
For every mistake you want to put on Romo, I’ll give at least 3 I can put on the rest of the team in those playoff losses.

The rest of the team is not Romo.
I think other player’s mistakes are talked about quite frequently on this site, but people rarely say that you have to just accept them the way that they do with Romo. Those players are expected to continue to do what they do well, and cut down on their mistakes. Roy Williams, Patrick Crayton, and now Pacman are getting blasted for making the same mistakes over and over, but for some reason Romo shouldn’t be held accountable?
I agree that there’s only one other guy in the league, who is out for the season, that I take over Romo, but I’m concerned that our season will end with yet another Red Zone blunder, and Romo doing it in every game this season, sometimes twice, is not assuaging that concern. It doesn’t exactly help our defense out, either.

I agree
But, how many Qb’s make it up by throwing a dime on the run for a 40 yd TD to seal the game.
Romo in time will cut down on that mistake, we already see an improvement from last year to this year. He is still growing as a QB, I fully confident by year end he will no longer make that mistake..

Even Wade agrees with me.
I guess Wade Phillips is hating on the Cowboys, too, because he said that they need to work on Red Zone turnovers, and doesn’t seem to think they should just accept it. I bet Mickey writes an article about it now, like he came up with the idea.
