Trade Patrick Crayton to the Seahawks!
That's right!
Who wants to get on board this train? Where was Patrick Crayton last night? Should the Dallas Cowboys reconsider his future in silver and blue? He’s been a non-factor since week one. He had no catches–yes NO CATCHES–in the game last night.
Where is Patrick Crayton? I cannot answer that question, but I sure know where Miles Austin is.
Crayton needs to step up. He’s the guy with a mission to prove himself after the criticism he got after the NY Giants playoff loss. Wasn’t he the guy who was to impress us this year?
I know a team who would be more than happy to pay $19 million for a wide receiver for five years. Maybe Crayton would like to join former teammate Julius Jones.

Only if we got something very good
I like Crayton and think he has value. His drop last night was bad, but guys aren’t perfect all the time. I would need a minimum of a 2nd round pick to even consider it.

ridiculous
He dropped a pass and he needs to not ever ever ever do that again but he is still a very good #2. You want to get rid of T.O. while we’re at it? I mean he only had 2 catches for 17 yards. I mean heck.. Austin made T.O. look like a rookie, right? Let’s give them both for a 5th round pick.. OK?

ease up man
every player isn’t going to have a great game every week, and especially when we have so many weapons there are only so many touches to go around. Crayton dropped one last night, but every receiver drops some. And Crayton did make some good blocks last night to help the running game, so he contributed to the win even if he didn’t show up in the stats. Nick Eatman noted on the Lunch Break this morning that he noticed a lot of times Crayton was not exactly being double covered, but was often being bracketed underneath by a LB dropping back into coverage to take away the throwing lanes underneath, which is where Crayton thrives. Crayton is an ideal #3 receiver, and with Austin stepping up last night, he looks good to fill that #2 spot, at least in terms of the role they are playing regardless of where they are in the depth chart. If Crayton can play more of the slot with Austin on the outside, he should contribute steadily all season, even if he doesn’t show up in the stats every game. Despite his drop last night, he still has the best hands on the team, and in Week 1 he did have 6 for 82 yards, just behind TO in production.

this is good info
I was wondering why Crayton hasn’t seen to many passes come his way..
Oh no way we trade anything right now, depth is key..
4 wide with Sam Hurd, good times..

What would we get for him? Not much more than a 5th probably. He’s got more value as a Cowboy than he would bring in a trade. Catches well, gets open well on the slants and he’s a great blocker. Plus he’s still our backup at PR. With Austin emerging and Hurd still not 100% yet, we need him.
There will be better games ahead for Crayton.

that would be dumb
Crayton is a player that every team needs to win a championship, he’s not a star by any means, but he does all the dirty work that is necessary for the stars to shine. He blocks great and normally has great hands and runs great routes. You need guys like Crayton, you can’t have a star at every position.

He also threw a nice pass to TO on the option play
He probably shouldn’t have thrown it because the play didn’t fool the Packers who had TO double covered, but it was right on the money.

I ain't signing up for this.
Why help the Seachickens get better? You think these WRs are set just because their names are on the program as #1,#2,#3,etc.?
This position has been thin. Imagine if any of these guys went down. Crayton is needed here. Plus, he’s playing on a new contract. Be patient. Last night was Austin, Barber, and Felix’s game.

You've got to be kidding
Austin caught a whopping 2 passes. Just because they were both long doesn’t mean he’s suddenly our great #2 receiver. Mostly it means that Green Bay didn’t pay attention to him because nobody knows who he is. When he catches 9 passes in a game, then I’ll get excited.

Why the negativity? We are undefeated, looking good, and moving in the right direction..
Our team is dialed, we have the big play WR(TO), possesion WR(Crayton), and Home run threat (Austin). Not to forget the Best TE in the game. Everyone has role, let Crayton play his..
More to come from Hurd and Stanback..

Austin-2, Crayton-0
That was two more, a touchdown and 115 yards more than Crayton, our No. 2 receiver, got. With TO being doubled, why the hell couldn’t Crayton get open? Maybe because he’s a lazy bum?

Austin-115+1TD, TO-17
as I posted above, as Nick Eatman noted in the Lunch Break today, Crayton was regularly being bracketed underneath by LBs cutting off the passing lanes, in effect being double covered.
Austin also had 98 yards and 1 TD more than our No. 1 receiver got. Crayton was often doubled just like TO. Why the hell can’t TO get open, maybe because he’s a lazy bum? Shall we jettison TO just because our #3 receiver had one much better game? by the same logic…

I don’t know what you were watching. There were pressing Crayton at the line and he could’nt get open because he has no speed. That’s the truth….

I said it a few weeks ago and I'll say it again
Crayton is NOT a #2 Wr. He get’s shut down against the better CB’s. If you don’t believe it, than look at his production over the last two games against the better defenses. The guy has been a no show!. Time for him to move into the #3 roll and replace him with Austin. If Austin didn’t open things up last night it could’ve been a offensive struggle. Crayton is not the answer guys and he should’ve never been considered as a serious threat at the two spot. Austin is the closed thing we have to it right now. If not, than we need to get one in the off season. Sooner or later, in one of these games we will have to lean on another person besides TO and Witten. Last night Crayton was not up for the task, but Austin was.

I've said many times before and I'll say it again
Crayton is more suited to a #3 role, regardless of his position on the depth chart. I don’t think anyone has ever argued that Crayton is an ideal #2. I have had high hopes this whole offseason that Austin can step up to the #2 role, and during the preseason we saw his potential. Now he is fulfilling that potential. But even if Austin does become functionally our #2, Crayton is a very good #3, which is still an important role and a he will continue to be a valuable contributor to this team. He may not make catches some games, but he’ll still be making good contributions. The fact that the Pack felt they needed to drop LBs into coverage underneath Crayton helped open up the running space for Barber inside the box. And he’s a very good downfield blocker which doesn’t show up in the stats but is an important contribution.
The fact is, there are only so many touches to go around. This year we have even more weapons than last year, with Felix much more versatile than JJ catching passes, Bennett more of a receiving threat than Fasano, Curtis maturing and catching something other than TDs, plus Austin maturing to the point that he’s stepping into that #2 role. All of that is great, but it may mean less touches for Crayton. So I really hope we can keep our expectations in perspective and respect the valuable role that he does play and not dump on him every game if he doesn’t show up huge in the stat sheet.
And I would encourage everyone who doubts to go back and watch the Browns game again. Yes, their defense isn’t that tough, but he had some outstanding catches that game and was a major contributor to that convincing victory. That was only 2 weeks ago. How quickly we forgot.

You are on the money Scott, why does it matter how you want to catergorize Crayton he is effective, and helps the team..
We are undefeated, so the team is doing something right. Having a good to great #2 doesn’t mean you are going to win more ball games.
Detroit and Cincy have two great good to great WR’s, they haven’t a won a game this season, so Crayton not being the pro-typical #2 doesn’t mean anything..

The problem with those teams is one, both have no OL. Two, both have no running game. Three, both don’t have a good TE. Thats the problem with those teams. We would be in the same boat if we didn’t have either of those to bail us out, especially OL and a running game.

than we should be concerned. He has been non-existant the past two weeks. He had once decent game against the Browns who we all know has a bad secondary. That doesn’t impress me. So far we have skating without him, but there will be a game when we need him, like last night. He didn’t step up last night. That’s disturbing…

Boyzfan94 likes to worry. Even though everyone agrees our offense is loaded with weapons, he makes an assumption we should all be disturbed by Crayton not catching a pass vs.Philthy & GB. I think we should also be disturbed that Berger isn’t able to beat out Procter as Kosier’s backup. Also Choice hasn’t gotten much time in the backfield.

No True Blue
It’s not about Crayton dropping one. It’s about Crayton being ineffective in all but one game this season so far. HE IS THE GUY WITH SOMETHING TO PROVE? No one was criticized more than he was for that Giants loss. Dare I say watch the tape again? Watch it. And then you tell me who had to show up this season—for every single game. I don’t care if TO doesn’t have a big game. He is doubled every single time. But when our “no. 2 receiver” has 0 catches for 0 yards, that’s a problem. So, Miles Austin comes in and makes two big catches—-game changing catches. His impact was felt, yet it was just 2 catches.
All I am saying, as are others, is Crayton is not a No. 2 receiver. He should be traded. Get a 3rd round pick for him. The Seahawks are waiting.

He is one of only Two WR’s that have been healthy on this team.
I know full well about Craytons performance in the Giants game.
With the emergence of Felix and Bennett he has less opportunities.
It would be stupid to trade him now…..We’re only 3 games into the season….
All off season everyone said….We need another receiver, now you want to get rid of a starter???
This is why Cowboy fans get a bad rap….because they whine over every little thing…..
Crayton will have good games and bad games….just like everybody else.
He’s a solid player….Maybe not a number 2 but solid none the less.
I love Miles Austin too. But to name him a starter after TWO CAREER CATCHES?

Stop the Crayton hating!!
The three biggest pass catchers on this team Witten, Owens, Crayton combined for a total of 84 yards last night. Heres the kicker though, we win definitively! We ran the ball around 35 times for over 200 yards! Our offense was moving the ball no problem, and when you run the ball the way we were the 3rd option is not going to get a whole lot of looks. He is an above average wide out. Not every team has a 2 all pros. When our offense is lagging when we can’t run the ball and T.O. and Witten are getting doubled then maybe Crayton can get some blame. Until then its time to put a smackin on the deadskins and move onto 4-0!

outside your natural mind. Austin had a good game, and contrary to what most would like to think Crayton is more than adequate as a #2 receiver. Last year he had 50 catches and 7 TD’s, how many other #2’s have that production. Alvin Harper only had 38 in his best year, and you’re complaining about Crayton not getting a catch against Green Bay? Crayton will get his, and Austin his according to situations. Don’t be a worried about nothing, give Crayton his respect.

#1 Ranked Offense in the NFL
Can we not worry about trying to fix stuff until it actually breaks? Or at least cracks?
3 weeks in, we’re 3-0 and our offense is ranked #1 in the NFL. Denver is #2 (and they have to score because they have no D). I’ll admit that Crayton hasn’t shown up other than game 1 but dang man, we could use 2 balls on offense and STILL not feed our weapons enough. And you know what? That’s a real nice “problem” to have.
We’re not even 1/4 through the season and you’re talking about trading away our number 2 and in doing so, trading away our depth, trading away our veteran experience and trading away part of our team chemistry.
That’s completely asinine. You should apply for a job as ESPN…they relish in the asinine.

but I’m not the least bit interested in posting about Crayton at this time. I saw the numbers he put up last year and I was very satisfied with those stats. I’ve already expressed my displeasure with him, and tons of other guys, for the loss in the playoffs last year. I know what his abilities are and I know the value he brings to the team. If Miles Austin overshadows him, that’s just good news for the Cowboys. I tend to not panic over a couple of games and ask for trades.
