That scene with him on the piano
shows his character. I’m in awe of him. We have an artist on the team!
Cool how he leaves it all out on the field. Screw what Emmitt and TD say. He knows when to get outta bounds and when to go for that extra yard. You hold back—that’s when you get injured.
That #38 sure should wrap up!

couple things
It’s too bad Lowber isn’t more NFL ready. I think that if we didn’t have Stanback as our project guy Lowber makes the practice squad. It’s obvious he’s extremely athletic and would probably turn out to be a good receiver if we had another spot for a project guy. He’s probably the only guy we let go that I’m not real excited about losing.
Barber continues to impress, this time off the field..
Doods, the season here.. woooohooooo!!!!!

you were excited about losing other players ??
Lowber has a loooong way to go……like Wade said, He’s got speed, but he’s no football player…….If he went to football camps, and maybe through contacts had a workout routine with, say Jerry Rice, then he could get things looking up…..He can come back next season, and be offered a tryout elsewhere….he needs to go to a bottom dwelling team that has little for receiver depth or prospects, and maybe make their practice squad…….but i’d say his odds are stacked against him…….

"If you don’t take him off the field as a coach, he will just about die out there," Jerry Jones said. "That impacted my decision. It’s a Michael Irvin-type work ethic. That’s what we are talking about with Felix Jones."

Stanback
will be be gone by next year
think there is a difference between being a hater and being a realist. A lot stanback huggers think of him as the future of the wr core and trumpet his raw athletic skills. I just want to see one play that justifies his roster spot. So, its really a difference of expectations.
If he cant contribute somewhat this year I am on the edge of saying he wasnt worth it.

I don't think this is outrageous to say
But let’s give the guy a chance to prove something, too. He was a project, we all knew it, and he’s only had one year so far, where he was hurt and was learning a new position. I’m with you in that I have no idea why people think he’s so great, since there is really not a lot of evidence out there suggesting that, but I’m going to give the guy a chance.

of course you don't see it
because you can’t and don’t want to see the obvious.
When he’s our stud receiver in a few years from now I’ll expect you to walk away with your tail between your legs ark.

All I could find was some youtube videos around when he was drafted
And they looked ok, but really there wasn’t a lot there. I’d love to see some more videos if they’re out there, though, so anyone please link me if they’re worth watching.
And, by the way, I’m not writing Stanback off. I have just been surprised by the enthusiasm for him from a few people, most notably Terry. But Terry has been right before, so I just want to see for myself.

I just finished my fantasy draft a few hours ago, now Hard Knocks! Can you say NFL is HERE!!! I am in a “family and friends” league with two Cowboy fans and several others that predict they have a great year… I still managed to walk away with Romo, Witten and the Cowboys D.
If this doesn’t feel like the beginning of a magical season! The last time it felt like this was more than 15 years ago, when Dallas was coming off a playoff loss to Detroit.
We went on to have one of the greatest seasons in Dallas Cowboys HISTORY.
This year it just seems we are finally capable of repeating that feeling you can only get when the seconds are winding off the clock at the SuperBowl. I know some people don’t wanna jinx anything, but destiny seems to be ours. Romo will start in game one, hitting two or three TD passes. Felix will break one. The defense will be tested by Anderson and co… but Ware, Tank, Spears, Canty, Ellis up front will be too much. And this secondary is quickly going from a weak link to pure talent. All three of the new CBs are studs. With punt returns and a few pick-6, Pacman and Jenkins are gonna account for 10+ special teams TDs… and then scandrick will block a punt or two?
Okay, yea… this post started a just a “+1” … I’m psyched.

Easy there.
I think the Cowboys are one of the top 3-4 teams in the league. Which is awesome to finally be able to say. Especially since the other 2-3 teams are in the other conference. Still, there’s a lot of football to be played. Let’s enjoy the journey!

same here had my draft last night then had Hard Knocks to watch ……
there are a few guys in my league who throw out an ‘over / under’ on how many Cowboys i will take each year….
not to difficult to take a few, as we all know…. our O is LOADED and our D is not too shabby, with dominating potential…
I ended up with MB III, T.O., Folk – so i am pleased with that..
had Witten at the top of my list to draft next, but somehow Winslow got highlighted and i guess my site drafts the player you have highlighted NOT the one you have at the top of your ‘next’ list. This makes sense, i just did not know i had Winslow highlighted… so i missed out on having Witten.. BUMMER… that is going to cost me…

I grabbed Witten in all 3 of my drafts
He’s the #1 TE in my book.
Also, gambled on Felix between rounds 5 and 9 in the drafts.
Grabbed Folk in every one too.
I’m gonna start Zach in my IDP league this week. I figure he’ll have a coupla TFLs, a sack, and about 14 tackles.
That #38 sure should wrap up!

i agree
they would have loved to use him against us..
Amendola knows with the 3 guys hurt in front of him he has a shot to play here this year. Good thing he is a Texas boy..

I doubt it
Amendola was born in Texas, played college in Texas, and has to love the idea of being a Cowboy. Something tells me the amount separating Dallas and Philly, etc., was not as big as we might see for front-line players. $50k (or whatever it might have been) makes a big difference if you’re at Amendola’s pay grade, but it’s not like he was going to get a roster spot elsewhere. Better to stick with coaches that believe in your potential already and have a chance to fulfill your dream.

Practice squad players make
$5200 per week—up to $88,000 per year compared to rookie FAs who make the 53 ($244,000) roughly. Teams can pay PS players more. I think NE broke the record by paying some TE $400,000 for being a 3rd year PS guy.
Amendola offers a type of WR that the Cowboys don’t have—a short, quick shifty guy. That probably played in his decision too.
That #38 sure should wrap up!

Thanks, and agreed
The Eagles have a couple of mighty mites already in Curtis and Jackson. Something tells me that the money must have been pretty close for Amendola to stay here. I have a feeling that if they offered him $100k more than Dallas, he’d be looong gone (and I would congratulate him).

Jerry made it obvious
He has a royal crush on Amendola. Granted, I only saw him on a few plays in preseason but can anyone who was at training camp tell me what was so special about him that Jerry is personally speaking to him when they let him go and again over the phone for a practice squad spot?
Canty99, can you tell me why????

I imagine
Jerry may have spoken to all of the guys they were keeping, but Amendola was the only one featured on Hard Knocks. Or it might have been that Dallas was offering less than other teams. I feel like we often see Jerry talking to players big and small about this stuff.
And besides, Jerry may be rooting for Amendola. It’s hard not to. As far as what’s special about him, if anything, it’s his mental game. The guy is highly motivated and runs good routes. He might become an asset after a year in an NFL strength-training program.

sure i can.....
the guy is a hard nosed player and has a great work ethic…..Obviously he has alot of things to work on but he is a undrafted rookie so you have to have some patience with the guy…We are not talking about a drafted player…Give the guy a chance to prove you wrong…

Maybe
I liked his hustle but I just didn’t see a reason in 4 preseason games to keep him. If nothing else other players deserved his spot on the practice squad.
So my question is still, was he worth the personal words from the team owner when everyone else just saw Wade and headed for the door?

My best guess
Would say he stayed in Dallas because he has the best shot to play now that a lot of our receivers are banged up.

Isnt it amazing
the way that Jerry Jones truly cares about the players. He seems really honest and personal with them. He doesnt have to be that way, but you can tell he really cares.
