Open Thread: NFL regular season opener
Wow, real NFL football.
It's finally here. Our NFC East brethren get it on as the defending Super Bowl champion Giants mix it up with the Redskins.
And just think, in a few more days our own Dallas Cowboys will be opening up their season.
This is an open thread for the game.

Trying out the extended coverage on NFL.com/snf
The extra camera angles are odd so far. Be interesting to see what happens during the game.
Giants -4 over Redskins........run with it...

The NFL season regular has official started! I guess it’s good that it starts with a couple division rivals and gives us a chance to check them out.
I’m not sure who to root against more, but the good thing is one of them has to lose!
The Giants are defending Superbowl champs, and kudos to them, but they’re whining that they aren’t getting the respect they deserve. Well, they gotta earn it again, just like everyone else does, just like the Boys do despite their 13-3 regular season. We’ll get our first look at whether Eli has truly matured as a QB and shows the increased confidence of a man with a Superbowl ring. But they’ve lost arguably the two most important players of their SB run in Strahan and Umenyiora, and come in at only #8 in the first week of ESPN power rankings despite being defending champions.
Meanwhile, the Redskins have a new coach and a new system. They looked great in their first 3 preseason games (including the HOF game) and laid big stinking eggs the last two when they were supposedly actually trying in dress rehearsal games. Which Redskins will show up today?
Well, we can root for them both to suck, and at cheer that the season is underway!

Ha ha...
Now I need like….16 completions between Campbell and Cooley.

I wonder what the odds are that Zorn is gone after only one year
We know Danny boy has little to no patience
And everytime he does that
it makes it harder to get legitimate HC candidates to even come interview
And if Snyder is going to hire
an OC and then make him head coach, he’d better exercise some patience. This team looks like a serious work in progress.
well, not exactly like they’ve been kicking from birth lol
but yeah, that’s some old dudes for this league
Check it out
He kind of sounds like a baby and the thing I don’t get is that he turned down a job to backup Rodgers in GB and then said he would be willing to do that but never got a fair shot.
Giants better be careful
they should be up three touchdowns by now and if wash scores they will start getting confident.
It would have been great for the Boys to playing in this game.
Prove their better then the Giants right away.
i can't believe anyone would ever actually root for these Giants
sad..

how the hell did this crappy team win a SB
?

So this is the new and improved Manning?
He should have four picks already if the Wash DBs could catch. Wait, there’s one!
Man, I love that stupid look
That Eli gets on his face whenever he throws an interception.

Great read on ESPN
Its the Sports Guy’s predictions, and he gives Dallas some love.
Sorry I keep posting links in this thread but I’m too lazy to make a fanshot nobody will comment on and I don’t want to invoke the wrath of Bigham by making a fanpost.
Yeah, I like his writing
“If Romo stays on the field for five downs all bet are off” LOL
But he usually makes decent predictions too and there is some logic in there as well.
He totally dumps on the Browns
On the bright side, “taking the Browns to the Super Bowl” remains my favorite euphemism for making a doody.
lol
Campbell was impressing me at the end of last season
But he is really stinking it up this game. Every pass he throws on 3rd and long or that 4th and 13 goes underneath, 5-6 yards short of the 1st down. Not sure how he expects to convert throwing passes like that.

not sure todd collins isn't the better qb
they really struggled with the new offense..
How does Zorn not prepare a 2 and 4 minute offense? Man, they might really be in trouble with him as HC.
"If you see me up in the mountains with a lion, I ain't lyin
don't help me, help the mountain lion"
and THAT'S your SB MVP?!?!
both teams looked not that hot tonight, save the Giants first drive…. and good ole’ Eli… passed 35 times for barely over 200 yards and just over 50%…… and they say he has ‘turned the corner’
truthfully, this looked like two mediocre teams just waiting for the other to give up the game….
That game was painful to watch
Which sucks because it was the opener and was expecting to see football.. I’m not sure what I watched but I don’t think it was football…
Not impressed with either of these teams tonight.

I see us going 4-0 against those two teams...

those teams both always play us tough..
I must admit I wish we were playing Washington yesterday. They looked lost out there.. Snyder has to be wondering if he made the right choice..
"If you see me up in the mountains with a lion, I ain't lyin
don't help me, help the mountain lion"
And Eli falls flat on his face...
I would think myself a prophet, but anyone who is intelligent enough not to believe the media hype would know better.
from a Cowboys fan perspective
that was a great game, because they both did kinda suck bad. boring as heck to watch, though.

GMen aren’t that good
Redskins really suck and will be lucky to win 4 or 5 games this season.
NFC East shouldn’t be that much of a beast this year which bodes well for us.
In Romo we Trust
just remember the Giants started 0-2 last year
and were on their way to losing game three of the season when they were down 17-3 in Washington when things turned around late in the third quarter and went on to score 21 unanswered points to win the game 24-17… one game doesn’t make a season, although I dont think the giants are an elite team but they are still dangerous. The Eagles are the team I worry about in our division. The Skins on the other hand are the skins, and as long as that nut job Snyder is owning that organization who likes to turn over the roster and coaching staff every two years, they’ll never win a championship…
The Midgets looked identical to last season
Good running game
Mediocre passing game (Manning was lucky he didn’t have 3 INT)
Aggressive defense
Couldn’t put the game away, should have been a blowout.
The Scums looked horrible on offense, must still be working the kinks out, growing pains ahead.
I agree with Deke and Terry, the Iggles will be our toughest foe in the East this season.
T-New, shutting down WR's for Dallas since 2003
why is Philly all the sudden better then NYG?
They beat them twice, Philly added Samuel, but have Curtis and Reggie Brown hurt..
"If you see me up in the mountains with a lion, I ain't lyin
don't help me, help the mountain lion"
Westbrook is the short answer
The addition of Desean Jackson as a returner and slot WR, and Chris Clemons to bookend Trent Cole should make their D-line better. Plus their QB is better than the Midgets QB.
I’d rank PHI, NYG, WASH in order of difficulty. IMO
T-New, shutting down WR's for Dallas since 2003
he was there last year and put monster stats..

The Eagles lost 5 of their 8 games by 4 point or less last year
They were one of the hottest teams at the end of last season. They had some key injuries
still do..
I don’t trust Mcnabb to stay healthy either..
I think NYG is a better ream..
