MNF open thread

Wow, I forgot with the doubleheader that MNF was on early this week, so I'm a little late on the open thread.

Thread is now open for Minn vs. GB and Denver vs. Oak.

So apparently,

Jackson is a bad QB. Who knew?

wow.....what a catch....Jennings...

As much as I love Folk,

it’s painful watching Crosby boom those kickoffs into the end zone.

by Mandmeisterx on Sep 8, 2008 7:00 PM CDT reply actions

+1 Mand...we had our choice of either Crosby or Folk....that's a comparison i watch closely....

our scouts somehow felt Folk was the better fit……even though Crosby was higher rated, and was known for the booming KO’s ta boot…..pun intended :-)

not that i’m complaining……I love our Folk hero

Crosby was the guy I wanted

but I dont care just as long as we drafted a kicker, instead of searching the garbage bins every year for one

by Deke on Sep 8, 2008 7:15 PM CDT up reply actions

crosby has a stronger leg and is just as good at fieldgoals

and plays in more weather condition issue stadiums.

But no one should complain about having Folk.

by Deke on Sep 8, 2008 7:27 PM CDT up reply actions

ummm...Terry...they guy led the NFL in scoring last year.....as a rookie...

There’s no use to beat this subject up…..but Crosby is no slouch, and it can’t be said that Folk’s better……numbers don’t lie……I myself wanted Crosby…..but like Deke said…….I am just glad we drafted a kicker…..Folk’s our guy….and hopefully he’ll play his whole career here……..

Folk would have never had that kick blocked

at the end of the 1st half, ’nough said.

Boyz that kick was way too low

Folk would have kicked that much higher as Crosby should have, its not like it a long attempt.

By rule, yes

But I just cant see calling PI when the receiver has to pull up because the ball is underthrown

by WB3forMB3 on Sep 8, 2008 7:19 PM CDT up reply actions

Rodgers looks pretty good

After watching last year against Dallas, I knew it was time for Greenbay to make the change because Rodgers was ready for the starting roe

+1 WB3.......once a player crosses the end line the play is over.....I hate when guys pull that nonsense after getting beat....

the dude came down hard too….way out of bounds….could’ve blow a knee out..

Yep!

If its a pass I can handle it. You might jar it loose. But when they run it in like that, that hit was pointless and dangerous.

Had he tossed to Peterson,

he could have walked that conversion in.

by Mandmeisterx on Sep 8, 2008 8:33 PM CDT reply actions

Im just not getting the refs

Yesterday they’re calling ticky tack crap like TOs “Offensive PI” that was a simple hand check and this crew is letting the GB DBs molest people with no flags

Rodgers

Not doing too badly for a rookie. (BTB standards) Imagine the quantum leaps he will make in his second and third year. Scary stuff.

by rrb on Sep 8, 2008 8:51 PM CDT reply actions

He's no rookie

By anyone’s standards. Rodgers was brought along the way a QB should. Drafted and groomed for a few years before taking the reins. I wonder how many good QBs have been ruined in the FA era because of the win now attitude the league has taken. How would guys like Alex Smith, David Carr and Joey Harrington have done if they hadnt been thrown into the fire as rookies?

I got three words for that "Rookie Salary Cap"

I agree to an extent

Here’s the problem I see with the rookie salary cap, especially with QBs, WRs & DBs that take a few years to really develop. If the players agree to a rookie salary cap, they will insist on shortening the max length contract for the rookies too. So instead of signing your firt rounder for 5-6 years, you can only sign him for 3-4 years. So if you take the time to groom them then about the time you get him ready to play in the NFL he can bolt for the biggest check. So you are right back in the same boat. Irregardless, a rookie salary cap needs to be imposed. It’s ridiculous how much the kids (busts) are making.

What a crappy game. One big play punt return was it. Sloppy play from GB and MIN.

Russell is horrible

paying this guy big money to hand balls off, thats his best asset. He’s terrible setting up and throwing it. Had a guy wide open for the first down

broncos look good

running and passing effectively, controlling the line, and some good creative play calling. a lot of things about the AFC that we all assumed would be true last week are much less certain now, including SD and NE’s locks on their respective divisions.
