If Garrett Stays.....
What are your thoughts people? I have a problem with him staying myself personally, simply because I don't believe he will be good for this offense in the long run. Anyone that makes the run an afterthought in the offense of the Cowboys to me not only goes against the grain of "Cowboy" football, but goes against the grain of football itself. But what is it that you would like to see change about the offense if Garrett stays?

I think that in the longrun Garrett staying would help this offense.
Many bash it, but JJs notion of continuality having benefit is true, especially for qb developement. Changing schemes now wont help Romo. Also people have to remember how good JG’s offense was last year. Yes this year he struggled but that is not uncommon for second year co-ordinators. I think he has the potential to be a really good OC and I think that next year we will see the real Garrett return.
I think the main thing JG needs to change is his on the fly adjustments. He seems to at times stick with his game plan even if its not working. But that comes with experience, so I am looking foward to JG’s offense next year

I agree
I think one adjustment that he might want to try, maybe just in the off-season is seating up in the press box. Gives him a chance to see in live action what is going on, oppose to looking at pictures. Might help with the in game adjustments.

Maybe we just witnessed the dreaded
“sophomore slump” and he comes back to have a stellar year next year. Maybe Jason got that “deer in the headlights” feeling with that huge contract he signed and had some stage fright. I too am a proponent of continuity in the coaching staff. Remember, we lost half of the staff from the 13-3 season when Parcells left.

As long as he remembers to run the damn ball, I'm fine with him staying.

He's a very bright guy
And he’s not near the top of most teams list for no reason. I relate most of the Offenses problems to execution more than schemes. The 90’s teams were not doing too much in the way of trickery, they lined up and dared you to beat them. Execution is the key, if you execute they can’t beat you.

NOMO ROMO
He’s needs abetter QB. Guy can’t read defenses, very inaccurate, head doesn’t seem to be in the start of the game. Don’t know how to audible into a better play. What OC would want to deal with that.
Suggestions For Romo
1. Film study
2. Stay after practice
3. Pass rush up the middle
move right/left
4. Strength train put on some muscle

No offense but those suggestions are kind of elementary or just plain naive
keep in mind until December Rivers and Romo were competing week to week for being the top rated QB

Romo
Needs an Offensive Line that can protect him. That is it! Barber/Romo got hurt and OL didnt do there job. It all starts right there.

It looks like Garrett will get one more year to prove himself
Hopefully he learns how to utilize his entire repertoire of offensive players, more specifically the runningbacks.

I think he's staying
Everyone assumes these guys can’t learn from their mistakes. Garrett is a highly educated man. He’ll get it figured out. I have no problem with him staying. I think he’s going to get with Romo this offseason and get things figured out.
I also don’t have a problem with Brian Stewart staying on as DC. So things didn’t go well the first time he had a chance to call plays. No one is perfect. But he got to watch Wade Phillips call plays the rest of the season. Don’t you think he learned a few things?
I seem to remember Jim Fassell taking the play calling duties away from Sean Payton. Now Payton has proved he’s one of the best play callers in the league.
Give these guys a chance. This offense was still one of the best in the league when Romo was the QB. It just didn’t look as good at the end of the year because they faced 4 of the best defenses in the league all in a row.

Hey if Norv could turn his coaching career around who's to say that WP, BS, or JG couldn't have similar results.

If Garrett does leave does anyone have any idea who would be our offensive cordinator. I personally think that he needs to go. Our offense just didn’t look good in a lot of games this year. Even when Romo was out he should have been able to game plan better to make the game easier for Johnson.

thats why josh mcdaniels is a higher prospect than garrett
because he adjusts much much better
he took matt cassell to an 11-5 record
but if garrett leaves so be it, we must move on
but if he stays i have no problem either
we did have one of the best offenses in 07 and if he goes with the run game next year and then let the PA open up the passing game for romo than he will show improvement
he can only get better..i mean he went to princeton lol

So if Garrett comes back
what does that do to the whole Garrett/Romo/Witten/T.O. equation? Can all four of those guys flourish or even peacefully co-exist on the same team anymore???

they sure can
JG has to figure out a way to get the ball out of Romo’s hand quick and quickly in to the hand of the play makers. Handing it off and throwing it.
