Spencer Arrested
It has been a long time since we have had anyone arrested who wears a star, but it has unfortunately happened. I don't know what exactly he may face as punishment from the league or the team for this. Let's just hope it doesn't become a pattern. We have been relatively lucky in that we haven't had any players arrested or in trouble with the law. We have enough problems as it is! I first read this at PFT.

Anthony Spencer, 24, was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct after being thrown out of Have A Nice Day Cafe around 3 a.m. Sunday.

D&D charge
you generally have to be being a knob to get one of these. The police just want you to shut up and go home.
Not in every case, but most. I hope he didn’t play the “don’t you know who I am” card.

Supposedly
According to the DMN, that guy was not his agent.

Great
I guess he’ll start off next season with a suspension.

not necessarily
Santonio Holmes got arrested in November for similar charges and wasn’t disciplined by Goodell.
Its his first run in with the law, so he should be okay, but you never know with Goodell.

Maybe if he goes to counseling in the off-season
Goodell will let him by with a warning.

Details?
I believe he is under his rookie deal for about five years, and he was the 26th pick. How is that a big contract? I could understand it if he was a top ten pick, but I doubt this team has another pacman on their hands.

Boot him off the team!
Send a message now. It’s a new regime. I know he was a first round pick, forget him. Let T.O. wak while we’re at it too. Start running the God Damn ball get some O lineman and a Friggin Safety.
And for Christ’s sake punt Stewart.

fortunately those aren't serious crimes
just summary offenses…he won’t even have a record…its like getting a traffic ticket, although I don’t know what Goodell will do.

Although Ellis does whine a lot
he is a professional. Ellis could teach the kid a thing or two about professionalism.

He could teach him a thing or two about staying in shape and playing effectively as well. 1.5 sacks in unacceptable for the #3 pass-rushing OLB on a team.

Proffesionalism, Darren Woodson gave him bad marks in that regard.
Darren said that a team captain should not go to the media complaining about playing time and contract money, that should be handled behind closed doors. When a high character guy like woodson says that ellis has shown some flaws in his off-field example of how a professional should carry himself, it has weight.

I am not critizing ellis's work ethic or play on the field, but other younger players see him
complain to the media and they are learning some bad habits from him on how to deal with the media and the front office.

Question
Eagles fan here: obviously you guys got Spencer via a trade with us two years ago. I haven’t heard much about him, but don’t want to assume he’s been a disappointment since he’s still very young. Can you tell me a little bit about him? Is this incident indicative of the type of player he is? Or was it a one-time-thing, you think? Has he been productive on the field? Are the coaches high on him, etc.? Thanks.

he's been injured a lot
however he’s shown flashes of being a tremendous pass rusher. If he gets an attitude adjustment, he’ll be a great player.

20/20
I wonder what the scouts saw in Spencer vs Woodley.
Woodley played for the Wolverines at the University of Michigan. He predominantly played defensive end and sometimes linebacker, depending on the front seven’s alignment. In 2006, Woodley was named the defensive captain of the Wolverines by his teammates.1 He collected 12 sacks as a senior and won the Lombardi Award as the best lineman, offensive or defensive, in the country. Playing off his defensive prowess, and especially the injuries incurred by quarterbacks Drew Stanton and Bryan Cupito while playing against Woodley, T-shirts were created by Dave Peabody of the blog Michigan Against the World and sold in Ann Arbor with the slogan, “Guns don’t kill people. LaMarr Woodley kills people.”
Spencer spent the 2002 season on the Purdue scout team as a redshirt freshman. He appeared in ten games during the 2003 season, recording six tackles and one stop behind the line of scrimmage.
In 2004, Spencer played in 12 games and started in 11. He registered 33 tackles and finished third on the team with 7.5 sacks and 9.5 stops for losses. He also batted down six passes and forced three fumbles, earning All-Big Ten Conference honorable mention.
Even though he started all 11 games in 2005, Spencer failed to match his 2004 performance due to several minor injuries. He was limited to 23 tackles, three sacks, and 7.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage. He caused three fumbles and recovered another while also deflecting one pass.
Spencer had a great senior season. He finished the season ranked second in the nation with 26.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage, the fifth-best season total in Big Ten Conference history. He finished second on the team with 93 tackles and first with 10.5 sacks. He also caused five fumbles and recovered another while batting away six passes and blocking one kick.
