Gruden Fired, Now he's Hired
Tampa announced they are parting ways with Gruden and their GM. http://www.buccaneers.com/news/newsdetail.aspx?newsid=6912
If Jason Garrett goes to St. Louis then Gruden's our man!
When Ray Lewis said our Offense was simple before the Ravens scratched out a victory in December I am sure if Mr. Angry Face Gruden was here that song would sound a lot different!
Should Jerry Go after Jon before somebody else starts setting their sights on him?

I
wonder if the Rams might hold off on Garrett for a sec for Gruden …..
probably not.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.

I think thats wishful thinking
I just don’t see Gruden taking an offensive coordinating job. I think he’ll want to get a head coaching job somewhere first. Lets say hypothetically we do get him he would fit great with T.O. and his love for the west coast offense. We’ll see what happens, i do not expect Gruden to have a star on his visor anytime soon.

Do you remember Key?
Inactive the last 8 weeks of the season. Gruden doesn’t mess around.

Nooooooooo!
Do we want Tampa’s anemic offense????
They haven’t been a threat since Keyshawn left.

seriously
Tampa’s offense hasn’t been impressive.. I would prefer the Shanahan and new OC and DC combo..

Keyshaun?
The fact that their offense was good at all with Keyshaun as their #1 WR is amazing. He won a Super Bowl with Dilfer! They made the playoffs with Galloway and Bryant at WR? E. Graham as the leading rusher? Garcia at QB? The defense could play in an over 40 league.
I can’t imagine what he would do with decent talent.

Brad Johnson
was Gruden’s guy in Tampa. Dilfer won his SB in Baltimore, if I’m not mistaken.

your right
Brad Johnson, even worse. He didn’t even start in college

No Gruden, IMO
I don’t want him or any other guy who wants to run the WCO.
This team needs to run more and pass less. The Garrett’s offense would be great if he would get back to doing things like Norv Turner did while he was our OC.

The WCO would work well with the Cowboys offense
they may be a little less mobile up front, but our skilled position players could fit well into it. Maybe a mix of WCO and a power running game would be a formula for success.
George Teague did it all.

WCO runs quite a bit...believe it or not...
by CowboysRnumba1 on Jan 17, 2009 1:19 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Yup
and they pass alot to their backs and utilize the fullback as well—both things I would like to see more of in the ’09 offense.
George Teague did it all.

Gruden's plays would baffle Romo for sure
Not only do they take 5 breaths and a soft drink to spit the whole thing out, somebody playing QB would have to know it means more than “Throw it #82”

when #82 is the only guy open
what do you expect? Gruden would help Romo tremendously, he’s great with young QBs and never had a truly elite qb to work with like Romo.

But Terry...
He is hard on them. And, if Romo pulled another December swoon, Gruden would have no problem benching him. Are you ready to see Romo sit on the pine?

i doubt jerry would allow romo to be a pine rider
and we have no backup qb anywhere close to being a starter
in tampa they had brian greise who was decent enough
but brad johnson cant throw past 8 yards and brooks isn’t exactly where he needs to be (#3)

i meant brooks is*
brooks is ok, but hes not gonna be a franchise qb
maybe a solid backup one day

That is the problem with this team. Jerry has too much say as to what happens on the field.

he is the gym
I don’t think the talent on roster was the problem.. Injuries killed us. Give me Holland or Kosier and Felix. If have 2 of the those 3 I think we make the playoffs.

Gruden hasn't coached a QB the caliber of Tony Romo since...
Why would Romo have such a problem learning a Gruden offense?
George Teague did it all.

I do believe Rich Gannon has produced at high levels with Gruden as his coach.
Led the league in scoring in fact.
Gruden would make Romo much better.

Gruden's teams tank in December like ours.

No on Gruden
His own players are now blasting him about how he treated them, not caring when they played hurt, etc etc., not having a fmaily atmosphere etc. I don;t see something like that going over too well with T.O. and the rest of the team. I don’t really think we have the personnel to play the West Coast anyhow, even though T.O. did well in it. I could be wrong pn that though.

The player you speak of is just sour grapes. Even Derrick Brooks called him out on it.
Jenkins was just an underacheiving waste of talent, and Gruden rode his ass. That’s exactly what this team needs. A coach to get in their faces and demand better play, better execution, and more accountability. Gruden is no nonsense, and would not stand for this blazee blah attitude. especially Romo’s who gives a crap approach to his profession.

i have no interest in gruden
much rather have shanny as our hc and bring in capers as our d cord…bring in shanny’s son to our our oc from the texans

Gruden is the best coach available
Look at the lack of talent he has! His teams win when nobody thought they would each year. His RB is E.Graham. QB Garcia. WR’s and def are old rejects. He won a SB when TB gave up 2 first round picks to get him! What has Sapp done without Gruden? What has Brad Johnson done without Gruden? Warrick Dunn? All average spare parts that he won a SB with. His facial expressions are beyond annoying but he wins and doesn’t put up with crap. His players don’t like him? Seriously? Are we worried about the players feelings? I love TO but if Gruden drives him away like Keyshaun then fine. Romo would learn to protect the ball under Gruden that’s for sure (if that is even possible).
