Perfect Storm--
- QB-Romo’s decision making not were it needed to be, he did a good job, but he is capable of great. Out with injury for 3 games, and then played hurt every game there after.
- RB- Marion YPC down, he played injured for all of December. Felix missed 10 games this season. Choice played well.
- WR/TE-This group overall wasn’t bad, but injures to Miles Austin, Roy Williams, and Jason Witten affected the team. Tough to establish continuity with guys who can practice or play.
- OL-This group missed way too many assignments in pass protection and did a so-so job run blocking.
- DL-Group stayed healthy, Rat played well, but we needed more from this group especially rush defense.
- LB-Strongest group on the team last year.
- Secondary-banged up-Newman missed time, Roy Williams out, Pat Watkins out, and Hamlin barely healthy enough for game day. Plus, you add in the Pac-man experiment -the suspension, the injury, and the distraction.
- HC-I just don’t think Wade did enough to inspire the team. In my opinion he didn’t spend enough time with the defense last year. Our Defense was way too inconsistent.
- DC-Fired for a Reason
- OC-Good job early, but defenses caught up to his scheme.
- Injuries-Dallas just couldn’t beat the injury bug..
After reflecting on the season, I realized that the team failed in many phases, and you can just blame one person. Everyone is scrambling looking for someone or something to blame, but the simple answer is just wasn’t our season. We had too many mental errors, too many injuries, and too many distractions. I am no longer looking for someone or something to blame, I am jsut going to chalk it up as a loss, and hope we learned from last years mistakes. Playing the blame game does us no good. The media is feeding on this..

I agree
Blame should be headed in a bunch of directions… atleast we are working on re-signing Ware…

Without a high draft pick or much money for free agency we will probably have the same team next year. There are three players that might not be back next year, Owens, Roy Williams and Zach Thomas. Thomas is the only one that would want back.

Losing McBriar hurt
and I can’t believe there wasn’t a better option than Peaulescu
(Romo) still gets excited when he buys a new t-shirt at Target for crying out loud

Good stuff
I agree, for the most part, that blaming any one person for the season is pointless. It’s good to see people are calming down and coming around to the conclusion that things can improve, and it doesn’t require an overhaul the coaching staff or players.
My Dad just recently came around to not hating Jason Garrett. I think I finally wore him down a bit. Same with Wade. He was calling for his head earlier, and now he seems to agree that he should get one more year. Time heals all wounds. I’m glad Jerry didn’t jump the gun and do something crazy in anger. If it were many of us, myself included, I think some rash decisions would have been made, potentially to the detriment of the team.
Sure, things went bad, and as you said, it could very well have been the perfect storm. Upon further review, the team was really awfully close to being what we expected. A recovered onsides kick here, a successful drive in OT there, one or two less picks, maybe a starting QB without a broken pinkie, a corner who doesn’t fight his bodyguard, etc. and the team could have been right where we thought they should be. I’m actually pretty optimistic the team will be back on track in 09.
