TO Still at Top 10 Wideout?

I know TO isn’t going anywhere and he is a valuable asset to this franchise. I am not the biggest fan of his personality, but he is capable of putting up big time numbers any season? Before the season the blog basically agreed he was either TO or Moss was the best WR in the league. After another season in the books, where do you rank him? Below I give my top 10 rankings. Where does TO fit in to your Top 10 Rankings?
- 1. Andre Johnson
- 2. Calvin Johnson
- 3. Steve Smith
- 4. Randy Moss
- 5. Larry Fitzgerald
- 6. Anquan Boldin
- 7. Brandon Marshall
- 8. Reggie Wayne
- 9. Terrell Owens
- 10. Roddy White

I'd say you have it about right.
You know you just started another blog fight between T.O. defenders and T.O. bashers.

But TO Can't Play Slot
His hand reaction time is too slow and his hands are stone. Welker is a more valuable player at this point thanks to pure consistency.

wasted blod post.....TO is top 10....who gives a crap where you slot him....top 10 out of 86 WR's that usually play....I'll take that..
IF he played in Houston, Arizona, Carolina. NE, NO, Denver….He would put up the same or better numbers than the #1’s on each team…….NO other team as the assortment of weapons on their rosters that the Cowbys do………OF COURSE his total numbers won’t beat out many teams where they are relying on a one horse pony WR show…………don’t get it twisted !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FIRST OFF....I didn't say TO was better than anyone listed....
I said if he was the #1 WR on anyone of those teams, he would put up the same or better numbers than anyone of those mentioned…..I also believe Fitzgerald is one of thee top WR’s in the NFL, he’s actually my favorite WR, and i’ve been following him since his freshman year in college….so where you got I said TO is better than Fitz,, I have no idea…I will say TO is bigger, faster, and stronger than Fitz…and I wouldn’t be wrong…..so once again….IF you think there is some true fire way of actually ranking players 1-10…..I’d sure love to know your formula……cuz it’s purely a matter of preference…statistics don’t prove a damn thing….it’s a team sport people….it takes 10 other players on the field doing their jobs and executing to make a player shine…This isn’t baseball…..and even baseball has it’s ways of altering a guys at bats…and overall statistical numbers…..so like i stated above….this post is merely a popularity contest…hence…useless to determining an actual clear cut ranking system…

Sucked might not be the word,
but he wasn’t great when he first came into the league. It wasn’t until they surrounded him with a good line and weopons that he blossomed. He had 23 and 28 picks in two of his first four years, which would have been the highest total in the league this year.

Romo didn't lose any games either
except for the Pittbsurgh game, but you can’t fault him entirely for the others.
Manning couldn’t get us in the playoffs because he would need a good OL and receivers who could get open on a consistent basis like he has in Indy. That didn’t exsist in Dallas this season.

how could Manning make our OL look better?
Thats ludicrous, he’s 100 times more immobile than Romo and his release isn’t any quicker.
How does a QB make WRs look good when they don’t run great routes? News flash..they don’t.
Manning isn’t as great as you think he is..don’t get me wrong he’s really good, but he’s not that good. He needs good players around him playing well to succeed just like every other qb.

Absolutely Correct
Peyton Manning would bring to the Dallas Cowboys Leadership, a culture of accountability and a desire to win that would make everyone on the offense better. All of those things were sorely lacking with this season’s version of the Cowboys. You put Peyton Manning on this team for all of 2008 and we are the #1 seed playing at Texas Stadium Sunday. Payton Manning would make perhaps 5-8 teams the #1 seed, not just Dallas. He is that good.
To equate Tony Romo to Peyton Manning is crazy. The difference is enormous. The comparison of quarterbacks can’t be done by simply looking at statistics. Manning’s decision making is far quicker and superior to Romo’s. He provides Leadership and accountability. Manning, like all great quarterbacks, finds a way to cover his team’s shortcomings. For example, if the offensive line was having trouble protecting the quarterback, Manning would get rid of the ball instead of compounding the problem by running around trying to make a play.
Quite honestly, I find it amazing that this argument is even taking place.

The argument isn't that Romo is as good as Manning
The argument is that Manning would somehow put the Cowboys in the playoffs which is laughable to me.
I don’t care how great of a leader Manning is, he still needs his OL to block for him and needs his receivers to get open and catch the ball.
Manning isn’t God and his infinite powers aren’t as great as you think, otherwise his team wouldn’t have losing record in playoff games if he is indeed Jesus in cleats.
Romo’s play wasn’t the reason the Cowboys missed the playoffs, they didn’t make it for various reasons and Romo’s flaws are about 5th or 6th on that list.

Manning’s receivers are all very good and get open all the time making his job much easier.

If you are saying who had the best season last year, no way TO is in the top 10, but if you are just rating all the WR in the league, which I think it is, I would put TO at 4 or 5.

TO is a Declining Talent
He has lost a step; he is timid over the middle; he does not want to put his head down and plow ahead; he continues a lifetime of drops; more than a few times he failed to run a precise and timely route, and then there is the drama. TO is a posterchild for this football team; underachieving and overpaid.

He’s lost a little bit. He’s no scrub by any stretch, but if you look carefully, he has begun his decline.

What about that catch against Cincy?
Did you see him fighting all the way across the field and into the endzone? He will still fight for the ball. What about that one down the sideline against Pittsburgh (or was it NYG?) No mention of his downfield blocking on running plays, either, where he is very agressive.

top 3 no
throughout his career he’s been one of the best
yea, he’s getting old, and slower/weaker
but he’s still the best threat we have at wideout
until roy e. proves himself next year then t.o. remains our #1 wr
i’d rank him maybe 4th or 5th

T.O. is a top 10 WR in the league
however, he isn’t elite anymore, his route running is just awful and he never had great hands.
As a pure athlete, he has no peers, but it takes a lot more than athletic ability and great spped to be an elite NFL WR.

That is completely different.
being in the richest 10 people in a world consisting of more than 6 billion peolpe is different to being in the to ten of 64 starting WRs. So I understand what Terry is saying, but I still think that TO is elite

well Romo is easily a top 10 qb in the league
but I’m the only one saying he is elite. I think in most fans minds, elite is being top 5 at your position.

again that depends on position.
There are 32 starting qbs in the league, so it makes sense that because there are twice as many starting WR that there should be more elite WR than elite qbs. I think top 5 for qbs and maybe top 10 for WR

He only had 3 TDs this year, TO had 15!
A quick comparison.
2008 Edwards: 55 recs, 873 yards, 3 TDs
2007 Owens: 81 recs, 1355 yards, 15 TDs
And that was with TO only playing 14 1/2 games. So yeah, Braylon Edwards was nothing like the TO of last year.

Braylon Edwards should be a top ten without question based on his talent and what he did last year
but…..he only did it one season…..These other WR’s like Moss, Wayne, Andre, Fitz have been consistantly good.
TO is bigger and stronger than Fitz, but he is not faster than him…..no way…maybe 4 or 5 years ago, but not now..

I'm not so sure about bigger and stronger even
Fitzy is a beast, followed up close as a Pitt season ticket holder throughout his college career, haven’t seen too many players that were as strong and physical as him at WR position.
He only lacks blazing speed which is the only thing T.O. has over him IMO.

not true Boyz
T.O. is way faster than Fitzy and it isn’t even close. T.O. might run poor routes, drop balls and mouth off to the press, but he is a true speed merchant, thats for sure.
Fitzy was never fast, going back to the days when I watched him at Pitt. If Fitzy had speed, he’s easily the best WR in the game today.

6. Roddy White (as Ryan improves)
5. Reggie Wayne

3. Larry Fitzgerald (only this low b/c I don’t see the Cards blowing up again)

maybe kinda sort of...
Plax is good because he’s the only great receiver on that team, but who knows what he’ll be doing next year. With Jackson, again, his other receivers are hurt but I’ve watched him blow by so many corners, even when they know he’s going deep. If he gets his head out of his rear-end and just plays football, I honestly think he could be amazing. Very Steve Smith-like. Plus he’s got great return abilities. I know the Vikings punt coverage sucks, but he certainly didn’t do them any favors last weekend…

Honestly
I would rather have Bolden or Fitzgerald than T.O.
I’m sick of his press conferences, sick of the media swarming around him, sick of him talking, sick of him being what he thinks is a leader on this team. I’m tired of T.O. and I’m tired of him being a Dallas Cowboy. He’s one of the reasons people hate this team.
Michael Irvin, he is not.
And I don’t care if the media promotes his negativity on the team. It’s still annoying and I will always tire of hearing his complaints. Teams don’t need star WRs to be successful, just productive ones.
