Guys I'm actually having a sad moment right now....Cowboys celebrating like
crazy in the end zone in a big old love pile, all because they beat an 0-4 team that is really really not very good
i really hope they build on this win and start playing better football
by Loozeeana_Cowboy on Oct 11, 2009 3:37 PM CDT reply actions
we are playing so poorly right now
the team needs something to get excited about
Absolutely.
It’s wins like this that bring about unity and inspiration that can carry them for the rest of the season. Best parts were obviously the emergence of Austin, the continued outstanding play of Brooking and Ratliff, and the smart, efficient, good play of Romo. Now if Wade can figure out how to stop those crazy end of half/game drives, this team can go on a roll.
by Baked Potato Soup on Oct 11, 2009 3:58 PM CDT up reply actions
sometimes the ugliest wins
are the most satisfying in the end. and good for Miles, let him celebrate.
but yeah, the perspective has to come quick. should never have come down the 4th qtr much less overtime
I disagree
We are what we are. We need to get off our hugh horse and start scrapping and playing desperate. I dont care who we beat we need to beat people
Well...
I’ve been thinking about this. The false starts and holding calls are bad, but what’s worse, 1st and 15 or 20, or 2nd and 15 or 20? At least with the penalty, we don’t lose the down, too.

a lot of those scores were just terrible, terrible tackling.

Hardly...
While I am happy for Miles, Romo is still not for real and this team just struggled to beat a hapless, winless team.
I am not jubilant.
Those that are just are blind to the fact that this team is about to get stomped on by the better teams on the schedule.

and unfortunately, I think you’ll find that he is not.
"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."

I thought Romo played pretty well today
everything around him fell apart. Oline was porous. No run game. Needed to lead a comeback. ANd did….
I still don’t trust him in big games untill he gets out of his funk hes been in, but he played well today.
No run game?
It was there, but myopically, the staff wouldn’t put Choice in the game sooner.
"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."
- John McKay, the first coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
He played VERY well.
He didn’t get frustrated even though his receivers weren’t helping at several points, he trusted his teammates, and he protected the ball. And he was rewarded with a high passer rating, a game winning drive, and a nice win.

you’ll be lucky to win seven games the rest of the way

Dude...Its all about living for another day...
I’ll take an ugly win over an loss any day
Then don't whine when they lose later in the season
…because this team is poised to break our hearts…again.

I guess you take the good with the bad...
I am not for one moment overlooking the deficiencies of this team…but i will not mourn a Victory either…
Fair
I am not a game-by-game fan.
The resume of this team through five games is disturbingly mediocre.
For that, I am frustrated.
With this win, every other NFC team breathes a sigh of relief that Wade coaches through season’s end.
For that, I am angry.
"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."
- John McKay, the first coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Even if we lost
Wade would still be the coach of this team through the end of the season. For THAT I am angry.

I won't. D crumbled in the clutch. Receivers dropped everything thrown
to them in the first half, including a couple of touchdowns. The safeties suck. The penalties were appalling, and the O line was ridiculous at times. And I’m still happy the Cowboys won, and I’m glad Romo had a good game, and Austin made up for his mistakes in the first half.
I'm really angry at Houck and all of the stupid mistakes
I am beginning to think Gurode is the dumbest center in the NFL.
"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."
- John McKay, the first coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
we're playing poorly right now no doubt
but its a long season. I thik we’ll see a different offense after the bye. AD maybe with our rookies finally getting pt our starting linebackers will actually get a rest.
so far
we’ve had two very close wins against winless teams and two very close losses agains undefeated teams.
Honestly, we know very littleabout this team or how they’ll perform the rest of the year
Romo's trust in Miles is finally Vindicated
I guess he more than made up for missing him against Denver
not in the BTB leagues... lost 30 yards for Choice
i know romo and austin owners are mad too

actually he had 3 TD drops
I think Hurd had a drop as well in the end zone, but before or after one of Austin’s drops
whoa
The Giants beat KC 27 – 16
The Eagles beat them 34 – 14
You could make the argument that they were still developing their roster at the beginning of the year
and wasn’t Cassel out for a couple of games?
Plus they are pretty desperate right now
and unlike those games
they got out to the early lead against us, which completely changes the game.
But I think we all understand what you’re saying. Noone thinks this team has playing as well as those teams right now.
yep
I hope to see a better team after the bye, but right now, we struggled our way to some early victories. We need to make some changes. I honestly think flo needs to be benched. But i’m very happy about this win – not content with our play, but happy we won. ANd I’m happy the team looked like they were enjoying it. We needed some excitement.
I'm just saying.
I don’t think Dallas is a real good team, but at least they aren’t the Foreskins – who lost to the winless Lions and the winless Panthers.

thats a small exaggeration
we’re a freakin mess in crunch time, and this week, there was no fatigue excuse. They blew it.
But they played well in OT. They had a HUGE STOP when KC go the ball on the 50. That can’t be overlooked.
i know they didnt come thru at the end of the 4th
but they had two HUGE stops in overtime, when they were actually gassed, and the cheifs only needed 15 yards for a field goal attempt

Yeah, that's crazy.
Is he THAT bad at blitz recognition? The truth is that he should be the starter and Barber should be the 3rd down and short yardage back, in my opinion.

A win is a win.
Especially for a struggling team. It’s nice to go in on a high with something to build on rather than a low, in my opinion.
Good game, Romo! That’s the way you do it. Just keep playing smart football, and in the end, your teammates will do enough to help you win.

Romo looked liek 2006 romo
which is partly because the line had him running all over the field.
I’m happy this road denver-kc stretch is over. I was worried about those games going in.
Amen. Props to Choice, Spencer and Brooking too!!!

brooking is my hero
if we had him in 2007….well im not gonna finish that sentence, but hes what this team was missing.
I said that in the off season...
He brings a fire and nastyness to the D.
The problem is we need DE’s who can make a play every once in a while in front of him.
"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."
- John McKay, the first coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
it would help
but that being said, they’re not that bad. Igor and Spears are two dependable guys in run D who open things up for the lbers. They do a decent job. No pass rush though.
I actually like the way igors played this year. Those have been two quality additions
That's what kills me about Wade
This team has talent but with him at the helm, every week somebody new finds a way to screw up.
We should have rolled this team but I’ll take the win.
I actually almost prefer to see them win a tight one in OT like this
lets be real, when the chiefs had the ball at the 50 yard line, who thought we would stop them?
this team has been such a mess
I would rather see their metal tested, especially after the denver debacle.
He should quit
"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."
- John McKay, the first coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The whole 3 TE alignment before the winning TD?
WTF was that????
"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."
- John McKay, the first coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
well..
A win is a win. I was happy to see romo making some good plays and looking a bit more like his old self. But…
These guys just showed me a glimpse at a very long season..this is a team the Cowboys should have put away easily and still couldn’t get it done. Too many mistakes..mental errors..and terrible coaching. I won’t talk down on a win..but this means very little and if they don’t come out of this bye week with a lot of things fixed this is looking like 7-9..8-8.
Point of note..Romo haters need to realize that there are a great number of flaws on this team that do not involve him.
Wade Phillips has never won a playoff game as a head coach..he has lost 4 home playoff games.
His longest tenure as head coach was 3 years.
Only once did his record as a HC improve from one year to the next (by 1 game)

That's terrible
"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."
- John McKay, the first coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The defense is still the 55-minute men
The O needs WRs with hands, so that Romo can complete a pass, and an OL that doesn’t hold and falst start 2 out of 3 snaps.
The fact is folks...this is STILL not a very good team....yeah i like the win...but we can't play like this and keep expecting to win.
exactly.
we’re so schizophrenic.
very, very erratic.
we play to the level of our competition.
we should’ve beat perhaps the best team in the NFC (the Giants)…
but we could’ve lost to two of the worst teams in the NFL (Carolina & KC).
phillips and garrett must go.
the way our team has been playing the past three games, we’re not even close to the level of team like philadelphia or minnesota.
wtf?!?!

carolinas not that bad
they’ll finish the season with a decent number of wins.
KC is bad. I think its become obvious that we cannot turn the ball over if we plan to blow teams out, cause we are just not capable of offensively puttng bunches of points on the board.
True, but...
No point in being unhappy about winning. They still absolutely need to analyze what went right and wrong and go from there, but I’ll tell you the truth, in my mind, the most important thing that happened was Romo staying smart and focused, and if he keeps doing that, the rest of the team will fall in line.

Miles Austin
To the people who are saying Austin’s performance is due to poor tackling, I think that’s off.
Austin has consistently shown the ability to break tackles. He’s a big guy at 6’3" / 215lbs. And on that last play he showed a tremendous amount of body control to break the tackle. He’s done that enough times now that I think we can say that there’s a pattern, and the pattern is he’s good at breaking tackles. His career YPC back that up as well.
by Fan in Thick and Thin on Oct 11, 2009 4:08 PM CDT reply actions
consistently?
was today the first time ever in his career starting a game?
I think so too.
And he is outstanding at exploding to full speed from those situations, too. He doesn’t have much wiggle, but he goes from 0 to full speed in an instant.
by Baked Potato Soup on Oct 11, 2009 4:09 PM CDT up reply actions
consistently
twice in this game.
broke a tackle against tampa to take it to the house.
last year against GB he pinned down the db to catch a long td.
on another play today he outmuscled the db to prevent a pick and come up with a catch.
I’d say yes, Austin consistently shows the ability to out-physical nfl players.

The biggest key to this team winning is Tony Romo.
And today, he showed that he can have the patience and perseverance to get it done. It wasn’t a pretty win and the Chiefs aren’t a great team, but it’s the NFL, and on any given Sunday, etc. There’s a reason that Vegas stays in business.
I found the win encouraging because Romo stayed smart, went back to guys that let him down earlier in the game, and didn’t make the crucial mistakes that he often does in tense situations. As long as he continues to do that, the rest of the team will continue to develop around him. This D has 5 new starters plus a new nickel LB this year, and they will continue to get better as the season goes on. Special Teams have clearly improved, despite the rare fumbles by Crayton. And this offense has weapons, and if some of the more fragile players can stay healthy for us, the team could easily get on a hot streak.
Not a pretty win, not a great team, but a lot to build on, and it made me happy for now. Nice way to go into the bye.

Good time for the bye week...
I think the later the bye week the better, but this is a good time to get RW, Felix and MBIII ready to make a run at the playoffs.
