Make the right Choice
This is going to be a short post, but it does not need a lot of insight.....Plain and simple Barber is not full speed. He does have all the heart in the world, but why do you put Barber back in after Choice scores a 36 yard td? I am not gonna be irrational like most people and say we need to start Choice, but he was rolling this game let him play. Come on now 8 rushes for over 90 yards...Barber is a good back but let him rest or else he will be playing 80% all year. I am not dismissing Barber I am simply saying let a healthy back play and let him roll!!!!!

Agreed.
And I must say it’s amazing how Choice has eluded injury this and last season as Barber and Jones get repeatedly nicked up.
But yeah, play the healthy guy.
I still believe in Romo.

Not sure Choice could carry the full load
But he should have gotten the majority of the carries. Bringing Barber back in isn’t necessarily a bad idea, just the amount of carries he got when he came back in. Still nice to have a rotation, just need to give Choice the majority of it.

to me
Choice is the definition of a guy who can carry the full load. There arent many guys capable of it, but he is.
Feliz says his greatest thrill was striking out Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz, one of his heroes. Yet, when he called to tell his parents, his mother had a request: Strike out New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, too.
"So when I did that," Feliz says, "I told my mom, 'There you go. There's your present. Don't ask me to strike anyone else out, OK?'

Premature bye week changes
- Choice would be a good starter
- Free may need a shot too
- Last week, I said Austin should be no more than #4WR—I really meant either #2 or #4, hell #1 even
- Carp is one of the worst players in the league
- Coach Joe D deserves a Nobel Prize

Flozell hurt us big this game for sure he needs to get a strict butt whooping from the coaching staff

Flo was the #1 reason
why that game was close. How many drives did he kill?

erm
5. Coach Joe D deserves a Nobel Prize
I actually agree with that one. The Nobel Prize committee does have a “Best Special Teams” category, right?
I still believe in Romo.

it's not even about carrying the load
Barber is the only of our 3 backs that can consistently pick up the blitz..
its the hardest thing for young runners to pick up, and choice and moreso felix suffer at it.
Coach Winters: Alright, this is Mississippi State's offensive set. Second and two on our own 24, what defensive set might we call?
Alvin Mack: Eagle Zipper Hero, unless the setback shifts into the I.
Coach Winters: Good..[clicks to next slide], third and seven?
Alvin Mack: Oakie Thunder Lion.
Coach Winters: What's your assignment?
Alvin Mack: Kill the quarterback.
Coach Winters: [clicks to next slide]
Alvin Mack: Hit the tight end so hard his girlfriend dies.
Coach Winters: [clicks to next slide]
Alvin Mack: Kill everybody.

I've heard that Choice is actually good at blitz pickup
he played in prostyle offense at GT so it was easier for him to get earlier in his career, and that’s part of the reason why he’s been the 3rd down back so far this season.

+1
He’s solid at blocking. We can’t get caught up in last week’s memory of a DE coming free on him. That was bad oline calling on that one.

Then it boils down to our coaches stubbornness in playing barber?
just like last year? thats disapointing.

They just seem to go with the guys on paper, instead of "feeling" who's hot and who's cold.
I really don’t get that.

I saw enough of Tashard
In last years Pittsburgh game to know what I’m looking at. I’ve been calling for it since then, and all I’ve goten is bitter remarks from people who take Tashard’s accomplishments as a knock on Felix or MB3. i don’t look at things that way though. To me, Tashard has already proven he should be our main back. Even after Felix is healthy and when MB3 get’s healthy. Only Garrett knows why he didn’t get more playing time today. And if no one has the courage to say it, I will, before everyone starts clobbering me for my opinion.
Repeat after me: Tashard should be our main back
The offense should be revolved around him, since he has already proven he can carry the load. Felix may never become as durable, and run between the tackles like Tashard Does, and if we use Felix that way, it wouldn’t be good for Felix. Felix should be out there even when Tashard is out there. Felix should be used more as a reciever. His speed dictates to defenses. The only other guy with good speed on offense is Austin. Everybody else is average speed at WR.
At running back, it has already been proven that the fastest running backs aren’t the most productive. The best way I can describe Tashard is “Emmitt Vision”, and that is what we need to run the ball effectively. Tashard is a great reciever out of the backfield, and he has heart. As Aaron said, Tashard takes the pressure off of Tony, and allows Tony to play a methodical, ball control offense. Today’s victory with the pass means very little to me. We could have just as easily lost the game also. Would we have gone down the field as we did in OT without that great run by Tashard? I’m not so certain we would have with just the pass calls by Garrett.

Tashard should be our main back
Don’t have faith that they will make that happen, though.

Isn't that part of the reason
that the team doesn’t make the proper decisions? That reality is overlooked in favor of the politics of the game? Reality speaks out loud and clear that you should play the hot hand. Taking into account that all 3 backs should be considered starters.

agreed 100%
WIth barber definitely not at full speed, why not bring choice in? DO we really have that litte faith in him when it comes to run blocking?
by foyesboys on Oct 11, 2009 4:10 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Somepeople foyesboys
will tell you that you don’t put a running back in there to pass block alot anyway.
do you want to play a running back just because he is proficient at pass blocking?
Tashard will get better at pass blocking too, you’ll see. After all, Garrett is the Cowboys offensive coordinator.

I agree
I just don’t understand, Barber is obviously not full strength, he could barely cut when he was in the 2nd half, and Choice has already proven he can carry a full load for a game or few last year. I hope they’re not just being stubborn, or trying to satisfy Barber because he wants to go when he obviously can’t go full despite all the passion and effort.

When they told me Baber was not even at the Giants game it reminded me of a worse TO
by rioplayer7 on Oct 11, 2009 4:49 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Never again compare
MBIII to TO, that is ridiculous.
I typed a long explanation as to why, but decided that was all that needed to be said.
by sduncan24 on Oct 11, 2009 6:29 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Why he seems selfish except he is not producing all our offense like TO was
The reports were out there he refused to even show up to the game because they would not let him play
by rioplayer7 on Oct 11, 2009 6:56 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
He's just shy and probably didn't want to deal with the cameras in his face on the sidelines.

Bringing emotion to others around him like a player like Dawkins done

I would like to see all of our injured players at the games, like Felix and Roy today!
But Barber’s situation was a bit different in that he felt he could contribute but was told he had to rest. The guy loves to play and it obviously killed him to not be able to be out there. It had nothing to do with his feelings towards the team IMO, he just couldn’t stand to watch football and not be able to play. That’s true love for the game.

I read no reports that said that
he refused to be there. I think you are reaching here.
by sduncan24 on Oct 11, 2009 8:11 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I might be but the commentators said it during the Giants game
I am not gonna go completely as far as TO because no one would take me seriously, but it just seems to me that Garrett would rather make sure his players ae happy then put out the best available.
by rioplayer7 on Oct 11, 2009 8:37 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
that maybe true
that Garrett is trying to keep players happy, but I am not going to fault Barber for wanting to play because when he has been able to stay loose, like the beginning of the games, he has looked great. Maybe that is what is happening, they are trying to keep his leg from tightening up. Either way, if he isn’t 100% or close to it, they should have him at home, not limping through the game.
By the way, he was hurt in the Giants game, I think there was a mention in the Panthers game

We need Barber
To have his carries and close out games. Tashard is an underutilized weapon. And all these truths without realizing we need to have all these guys out on the field at the same time with Felix!
