Scratching my head, posting my 2 cents
Want a new head coach? Want a new head coach right now?
Dunno if that's going to work... As soon as Parcells resigned and a few fans start partying that his days coaching were over I told them: "Be careful with what you wish for, the team seems to be quite fond of shooting at their own foots... And they also like to do it at the worst possible times..."
A few years later and admirably the players still have enough of their legs to keep themselves upright.
Coaches coach, players execute, and they've been doing it the bad way in the 2 tenures.
If Fisher is allowed to walk out of the Tennesee situation he should be option 1a, 1b and 1c in Jerrah's quick dial, but I'm not sure that he can keep the players from their foot auto aim.
Romo really doesn't get the credit that he deserves when he plays well.
His numbers today? 20-34, 351 and 2 TDs. He also saw his receivers having like 5 bad drops. With those completed he ends up with a 75% Comp pct, 1 or 2 more TDs and much more yards per attempt.
And on the department of doing good thing that often go unnoticed, he did a really good job of adjusting the blocking schemes in the 2nd half. That's the job of the Center, which brings us back to the subject of how good Gurode really is.
The 2 TE set isn't working?
Pass catching? True, Bennett isn't catching any passes and seems to be out of position when Romo looks or throws his way. But, if we're talking about run blocking the story is quite diferent. The scheme in some of our team best RB carries? 2 or 3 TE sets.
Maybe it isn't pretty, but it doesn't have to.
The pass rush is back?
They gave Cassel a beating, we're talking about how Cassel was pressured, sacked and hit in a bit more than half of his attempts... He had 41.
Who's our team best CB?
The easy call early last year was Newman. There were some fans that gave Scandrick some deserving love late last year. Jenkins is coming on strong, a line of 2 really good games... His asignments for most of those games? Marshall and Bowe.

Jenkins has looked good.
I heard Troy and/or Buck giving him some credit for it, too.
Romo played a good game, and as someone that is often critical of him, I came out of this game with more hope for the rest of the season than I had after the Tampa game. He played smart, went back to receivers that had let him down, didn’t get frustrated, and protected the ball. If he keeps playing like he did today, this team is playoff bound. I know that that’s a huge “if.”
I don’t want Jeff Fisher here. I think he’s a good coach, but those shenanigans with the video board reminded me why I don’t like him.
I think the QB and Center are supposed to work together to figure out pass protection.

what did he do with the video board?

It's just speculation on my part...
After his punter hit it on purpose, he tried to maintain that there was no way that anyone would ever try to do that, and then stated that he would abuse his position on the competition committee to deal with it. Personally, I’m convinced that Stephen Jones was named to the committee shortly after those statements not just because he deserves it, but also because Goodell or whomever makes that decision recognized that the Cowboys needed a voice for not only that issue, but the trend of developing rules specifically geared around the Cowboys and their players. Further, I believe that Fisher instructed his punter to try to hit the board.
I think Fisher has animosity and resentment for the Cowboys both from his time with the Eagles and from being overshadowed when the Titans were the Oilers. And considering that everyone wanted Wade’s head for turning a 13-3 team into a 9-7 team, why would we want a guy who has a 13-3 team at 0-5 and counting?

New coach please
I like Wade less and less every week. I wouldn’t be too disappointed if Jerry fired him tomorrow night in the middle of the season. He should have been fired after the Philly debacle last December. And get rid of Jason Garrett, too, who continues to baffle me with his play calling.
On a positive note, I like both Scandrick and Jenkins much more than Newman.
And congrats to D-Ware.

Great post
I haven’t called for Wade’s head in the past but I would like to see a change now. After last season he was lucky to be retained and he promised changes. The only change is we have less polarizing figures in the locker room. The wildly inconsistent play is still plaguing this team. The O and D never put together solid performances at the same time. The penalties are the same if not worse and thats a reflection on the the coach IMOP. I mean how in the hell do you have 4 offside penalty’s on one defensive series? The defense cant come up with a stop to win the game in 3 out of 4 opportunity this season. Thats Wades unit! I know allot of ppl want Garrett canned for his play calling but what about wade and his defensive calls? He needs to look himself in the mirror because ultimately his defense cant make a stop to ice the game. Wade continues to call similar defensive calls in those situations time after time, and guess what its not successful.
Its not that I dislike Wade, He seems like a nice guy. The fact is his undisciplined approach hasn’t changed and our cowboys are headed towards another disappointing season unless somethings changes.
Although it would bring a huge amount of attention and distractions, I would like to see Garrett promoted to Head Coach over the bye week. I think the cowboys know what they have in Wade, why not give Garrett the chance. Hell so many ppl want him gone too that if he takes over and its more of the same it would justify his firing at the end of the year. Dave Campo could run the defense for the remainder of the year.
I would love to think this years team will learn and improve as the year progresses, its just the past doesn’t provide any evidence that will happen. I think the firing would put the players on alert. If the coach can be let go in mid season so could I. I know Jerry isn’t going to fire Wade right now and probably wont during the year but I would love for it to happen. I hope I’m wrong, I really do. Wade please prove to me I’m off base.
thanks

As much as I do not like Wade or Jason...
…I do not agree.
A Dave Campo lead defense would be a disaster. For better or worse Jerry is committed to this staff this year. If the ‘boys fail they will be gone and this team most likely (especially if it’s an uncapped season) look very different next season. That will of course include someone new on the side line.

You mean with Gruden, Shannahan, Cowher and Holmgren available,
not to mention some of the other young coordinators in the NFL, you would take Fisher, who has one Super Bowl appearance in 14 years?

Out of those you mentioned
Gruden is overrated as a headcoach.. Shannahan’s offense requires a smaller athletic offensive line, four of the five would need to be replaced. Cowher would want control over player personel and coaches, Jerry isn’t giving that up, so for me Holmgren is the guyd Jerry would choose since Jerry is good friends with him and Holmgren wants to coach more than be a GM, and with his ability to work with quarterbacks to mold them, Romo needs alot of molding, I think he gets the job. Philips is good as gone after this year, and Garrett is likely to go too, but if Jeff Fisher was ever to come on the market, he would be my first choice..

completely agree about gruden
he is the only one talked about that I would consider a bad person. He treats his dudes like garbage.

I love the way fisher coaches
Shannahan i don’t really want, he wasn’t very successful with denver the last 8 years or so. And he’d want control over personell and his record doesn’t warrant that control. Cowher maybe but i just doubt he’d come here. Holmgren I like, but i think he’d want personnel decision control too, and I’m not generally a big fan of that.
Gruden imo, would be a perfect coach for this team. This is an offense far more talented than anything hes had since the raiders many years ago. I think he could do wonders for it. He has the kind of fire we need to see I think. I know many aren’t a big fan of him, but I think we need a leader at HC and he is one.

The one plus with Shanahan is that the guy knows how to get the best out of his running backs
Imagine what he would do with this group. Unlike the current OC, he’d actually runt he ball

It just boggles my mind to hear so much critism of JG
when the Cowboys have the #1 rated offense in the whole league. And to complain about the running game when we are rated #3 in the NFL……these are good numbers and many other teams would gladly change places with #1 offense and #3 running game.

but leading the NFL in offensive yardage is still very praiseworthy

No
because he’d want to zone block.
Can you imagine Bigg and Gurode trying to zone block? It’s comical if you think long enough about it.
I like Shanahan, but if he comes here, we are rebuilding.

I don't want Garrett
because he would retain play calling and i just don’t think he is the right person for the job.
The problem w/ Wade is I have lost faith in him, the reason we keep failing in the 2 minute drill is we suck at the prevent defense… WE SUCK AT IT.. Y they keep going at ti when it fails every time.. well i don’t have an answer but its obvious we suck at it, maybe its from the defense not practicing it very much, who knows, I think what we really need is a playmaking safety, our safeties are both to passive in coverages, rather make a tackle than go for the ball, if we have 1 playmaking safety that would go a long way in the prevent defense, If Newman got that pick today we wouldn’t have needed OT and it seems like he is the only DB that will take a chance for the ball. I think the sample size for Jenkins is a lil small to say he can’t do it but I do like the progress he has made this season…
off subject, anyone else get scared about Newman being out when Bowe sat on his head, that looked painful

Romo plays well against the sorry teams
and poorly against good blitzing defenses.

Uhhh, wouldn't that be the offensive line
plays poorly against good blitzing defenses? Just like any other qb Romo gets antzy after having his head handed to him on three consecutive plays.

Peyton Manning
He struggled as a starter in his first 6 years in the League. That’s why the Patriots and almost any team that met them in the Playoffs had the game in the bag.
He didn’t liked the 3-4 scheme.

Love Fisher, he's had just a tiny bit of competition for the SB in the AFC during his tenure
w/ some teams you may know, Baltimore, NE, Indy, Pit…… With his QB talent and that tough conference even one SB was a miracle.
I’ve wondered about him the last few years-A change of scenery would be great for him at this point, I think he’d reinvigorate things around Dallas.
I’m also curious about Jack del Rio-strong Dallas ties, kind of under the radar in Jacksonville, but until this year they were usually competitive. Maybe someone from that area can weigh in w/how he’s perceived.
Whoever, I’d prefer someone young and w/energy-although Holmgen’s experience w/QB’s is tempting.

my thoughts
Do I want a new HC? Yes. DO I want a new HC now? No.
Changing HC now would not do anything for this season, only make matters worse. At the end of this season, no matter what, hire a new HC. Wade is not the one no matter how this team finishes. If they finish great, it will be in spite of the HC not because of the HC.
There are definitely better HC available out there if Fisher is available. He’s not one of my favorite choices…
I don’t think anyone (except maybe Austin) will get credit for this win because we SHOULD have won this easily and not needing OT to do it. I agree a win is a win, but it was terribly ugly. We will have to listen to how bad this team still is for 2 weeks until we play ATL. The Cowboys can start to prove everyone wrong with a convincing win against ATL.
Two TE sets aren’t working. I had such high hopes for this set. I thought Bennett was going to be a difference maker in our offense but has failed to get the opportunties. No matter if he is helping the run game, he needs to be utilized in the passing game. He can cause mismatches and cause confusion for the defenses. We need to get him the ball, especially in the redzone.
I don’t know if the pass rush is back. Again, this was the Chief’s offense….not that good. I hope this is the start of the pass rush, but we will have to wait and see.
I still think Newman is our best CB. He does seem to have brain farts once or twice a game though. I don’t think Jenkins is good enough yet, but he is getting better every week. Scandrick isn’t even in the conversation anymore; does anyone find that odd?

Romo and Ratliff and Brooking
deserve a ton of credit too imo. But poor oline play held us back today. Defensively, we were solid till the 2 minute mark.

Good post
That game was much tougher than it had to be. We should have destroyed KC. Luckily an extremely talented team playing sloppily is still good enough to get by the Chiefs.
I’m really hoping a new HC is someone we haven’t even considered. I guess Jeff Fisher would fit the bill. None of the supposed “candidates” really impress me all that much. Shanahan requires an entirely different O-line, Holmgren and Gruden don’t do a whole lot for me, and Jason Garrett’s really iffy(he can look brilliant at times, and completely lost other times).
And Romo looked MUCH better against KC than he has prior. Throws were accurate, he showed that old knack for improvising at times, and did a much better job managing the game. If only we had guys who could catch the ball consistently. Crayton looked awful, Hurd let a few go right through his hands(again…), and Miles Austin was on-again off-again. Austin’s big play ability is a redeeming factor. Guy deserves to start, after Crayton’s miserable game. I am of course saying this one day after I said he really let me down…go figure.

All of these posts about GM/coach control
I find it hard to believe that any Cowboy fan wouldn’t want a coach that demands player control. If Jerry was not the owner… he would have fired himself as a GM years ago. To this day, Jerry Jones record as a GM is worse than Matt Millens. To me that speaks volumes. Maybe it is time for sparkey to give up the reigns and let someone who knows football do the shopping. Don’t get me wrong though, I love Jerry as an owner. He does more for this team then any owner has ever done in any sport. Aside from giving up his GM job, his sales/marketing strategies are elite.

Bill got ten wins with scrubs
You can’t win without talent, Dallas had none the first year and still won ten games, it takes three year to build a team from top to bottom especially when you change your whole defensive scheme.. Then Jerry wanted to get back in control of thinking he ws a GM and signed T.O, a player big Bill didn’t want, and rightfully so
