Looking back at some Grizz quotes on Miles Austin from '06
This is probably not fair, but I thought I'd have a little fun. I looked at Grizz's roster evaluations from '06. Lucky our coaches didn't take his advice...
And the opposite happened when I chose vet Terrance Copper over rookie Miles Austin.

But once Skyler Green sealed his own fate with the fumble, I figured Copper would grab the sixth spot at WR. I can tell you one thing though, Miles Austin shouldn't get too comfortable, there may be some trading left to do, and at the latest when Marcus Coleman comes back, he could be vulnerable.

But I have to give props to Terry with this Quote from '06 that really nailed it:
Loved the fact Miles Austin made it, this kid will be a big time player in a few years.

I made that comment because
you could just see the kid was tremendously talented, had all the tools you look for in a big time receiver.

oh please
You made that comment because you are constantly blogging that some Cowboy is great and another Cowboy sucks. Your comments are simply guesses, and you are wrong at least as much as you are right. Throw a bunch of sh!t up on the wall and see what sticks. Sometimes you get lucky and your guesses are correct (see Romo), and sometimes they are woefully wrong. Remember Isaiah Stanback? You blogged on and on about how he was the heir apparent to TO and would be the Cowboys #1 wide receiver. That guess didn’t work out too well.
When you post comments like "you could just see the kid was tremendously talented, had all the tools you look for in a big time receiver" it implies that you have some sort of skill for judging NFL talent. Nothing could be further from the truth.

He does do that...
but once again your the same guy who fails to believe that Jimmy Johnson was responsible for the Walker trade, despite the fact that everyone has documented it that way.
So….maybe we shouldn’t be attacking other bloggers?

To borrow some language from the unforgettable Winston Wolfe ...
Let’s not start s——— each other’s -— just yet.
I’d like to see Austin put together a few solid games, let alone a solid season, before we all start giving each other back slaps and high fives.

Bill Parcells raved about Austin. Said he definitely had NFL #1 WR potential. I heard him say it in a press conference.

he's got all the attributes
size, strength, speed, improved route running and catching technique, plus intelligence, he just needs to put it all together consistently and he can be a quality producer at WR. I really hope this breakout game was the start of even bigger things (not bigger games, which he’ll probably never have lol, but a lot more good games).

As Tuna said so aptly with Romo
Put away the anointing oil.

When are you gonna show him some love?
Last year he showed signs of becoming a downfield threat before injuries to him and Romo curtailed the season.
3-2 headed for the bye week.

He's always been a downfield threat
what’s new last year and this past game is that he can be consistent for those other routes that aren’t just speed based. In KC he had 2 catches for 119 yards and 2 TDs (he’s been able to do this before, like in GB last year), but the most inpressive thing was the fact that had another 8 catches for 132 yards, which is what you want from a starting WR whether #1 or #2. The two big plays were the icing on the top. He was targeted 15 times and caught 10. Two were TDs he dropped, that he made up for later.
Given him showing that same consistency plus the occasional big play, he’s a superstar level WR, even without putting up an insane 250 yards in a game.

I wonder if Jerry and Stephen are beating themselves up yet
If I’m not mistaken, there were talks of a contract extension over the off season, most likely minimal stuff, and Jerry and Stephen scoffed, saying something to the effect of “not for a guy who hasn’t proven he can do it in the NFL”. If the guy continues to perform at this level, there’s no way we’ll be able to keep him around after this year.
I’m glad Miles stepped up, though. I was about ready to hop off the dude’s bandwagon. Glad he shut me up.
