Falcons are going to be without one of their starting CBs

Dallas had better attack their secondary, even before this injury their cornerbacks are short/small guys.  Our WR need to chuck them if they try press coverage.

Brent Grimes: 5'-10", 185lbs

Chris Houston: 5'-11", 178 lbs

Chevis Jackson: 5'-11", 193

Tye Hill: 5'-10", 185

The player that they lost was Brian Williams: 5'-11", 202

A look at our WR core shows an advantage.

PC: 6'-0", 203lbs

MA: 6'-3", 216 lbs

SH: 6'-2", 205 lbs

RW: 6'-3", 210

I think that MA and RW could go up for some jump balls; the link below is to the article you can also go the Falcon SB Nation site for the same thing.

If the Sunday game was any indication

the Falcons will look to shut down our running game which means Romo will have a great opportunity to shred their porous secondary apart. I expect another big day from him.

huge day expected

We better go after Tye Hill. We can get guys open on him and force them to rotate a safety over to his side opening up the middle for Witten.

Wow, those Falcon fans

argue a lot more civilly than we do.

For today’s Blinding Flash of Obviousness(BFO in future) – the upcoming ATL game is pivitol. First, it’s a Conference game and it’s at home. While the losses by the NFC East foes are huge, PHL and WAS came against AFC opponents. So a loss on SUN puts us at .500, and basically negates any progress from this weekend. Lastly, it will just fuel the noise level unbelievably. And this team has enough trouble focusing.
I’ll refrain from predicting what we need to do before the DEC stretch before we see what happens SUN, because it will largely be irrelevant if we lose. What little margin of error existed in the early going has been somewhat squandered.

I am officially back from the ledge after DEN and a poor showing in KC. But this team needs to show some stones. Smacking the Falcons in the mouth will go a long way.

Lastly, our NFC East competition(happily ignoring WAS in its delicious mess)is now coping with some serious injury issues – the Gnats secondary is hurting and the Eagle OLIne is a disaster. Felix return for us is crucial, glad to hear he’s practicing. Concerned we might not have Sensi against a solid O in ATL.

Note: No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced

Remember we also have had only one loss against a NFC opponent

so have the iggles, giants, and I know it is pointless to bring this up, all but one of the deadskins four losses have been to one NFC opponent. I remember that who we lost to hurt us on the tie-breakers because we beat two AFC teams (browns and bengals) and lost two nfc games (cardinals, and rams) which hurt our conf record.

We'll be hurting

Chevis Jackson has the potential to be a very good cornerback, but he hasn’t had the playing time to show it and he’s going to be thrown into the fire against a talented passing game. Height advantages aside, you’ll want to look out for Grimes, because that dude has ups. Safety Thomas DeCoud picked two passes against the Bears and can jump routes.

If I were you, I’d pick on Houston all day long.

Wasn't the Giants secondary banged up a few weeks ago?

How did that turn out?

Don’t even make me go back to the wildcard game against Seattle and Pete Hunter.

Hey, if Atlanta wants to shut down our passing game

by playing a deep cover 2, thats fine too, our three headed monster at RB will then gash them all game just like we did the GMen.

Pick your poison.

by Terry on Oct 19, 2009 3:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Respectfully,The Problem Terry..

isn’t them shutting down our passing game, it’s gonna be our misuse of our RB’s and running game. We can beat any team if we use those three right, and it hasn’t happened yet. Avoidance of forcing passes will be the story. One thing about the Saints vs Giants yesterday- the Saints did not turn the ball over to them. If you take away the turnovers and play as mistake free football as possible- we beat the Giants by the same score or more than the Saints did. But turn the ball over (against any team) and you know the deal.

Can Garrett not go to a forced pass after successfully running it down a teams throat? We’ll see. Runs,Safe passes- screens, TE’s, slants. Build your way to earning a throw to single coverage down the field. No forces- repeat NO FORCED THROWS!

I agree winning the turnover battle is the key

however Romo hasn’t forced a throw since that Giants game

In Romo we Trust

by Terry on Oct 19, 2009 8:45 PM CDT up reply actions

You will be hard pressed to find any QB

that doesn’t force the ball at least a few times in each game.

When is the last time any QB in the NFL did not force even one pass in a game……………..?

Sometimes the QB does throw to a receiver that is covered, it happens in every game. Good receivers fight for the ball and either come down with or it, or at least keep the defender from making an INT.

If QBs only threw to receivers that were WIDE OPEN, the stats on completed passes would probably drop in half all over the NFL.

by BishopWest on Oct 19, 2009 9:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Agree with Terry

We ran for over 250 yards against the Giants. I’m fine with that if they try to shut down Romo. And by the way, your argument against every positive thought (“how did the Giants game work out?”) is getting old. Every team has bad games, that shouldn’t be the only point you focus on.

The Knights season may have just ended, but the Cowboys year is just begining!

Just keepin' it real, my brotha

also, you misquoted me. I said “how’d that work out?” regarding the Giants secondary being banged up. I remember several posters on this blog who were salivating over the prospect. Yet we all know how Romo played. So…how’d that work out? Otherwise, the team played very well.

by DavidH22 on Oct 19, 2009 7:01 PM CDT up reply actions

+1

Not that you need to explain yourself to anyone.

by kindablue on Oct 19, 2009 7:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Shouldn't

but it seems like Terry is always forced to explain himself to other bloggers when he makes a positive comment, but the negative posters shouldn’t need to???

by sduncan24 on Oct 19, 2009 8:43 PM CDT up reply actions

I've Never Seen

Anyone force Terry to do anything, much less all the time. Certainly no one to my knowledge has ever claimed Terry should censor his posts. It’s an open forum, and people can post what they want, and choose to reply, or not. The idea of anyone being “forced” to do anything here strikes me as not in the spirit of what Grizz has set up. It’s his tolerance towards a variety of views that makes this place so worthwhile to visit.

by kindablue on Oct 19, 2009 9:04 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree on the points near the end of your post

but let’s be real here. Terry is always questioned and is constantly talked down to due to his optimism. Obviously no one is putting a gun to his head forcing him to respond (and I realize sometimes he will fuel the fire), but as far as being questioned and being asked to explain, no one comes near the level that Terry gets it at.

If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.

by Cowboyfan729 on Oct 19, 2009 9:58 PM CDT up reply actions

Yes

Terry is just an innocent victim. Maybe we should take up a collection for him.

by kindablue on Oct 20, 2009 6:32 AM CDT up reply actions

I knew you were going to throw that word “force” back into things. Of course no one is forced to do anything, and that you want to argue that point is ridiculous. Yes you are right, no one is forced to respond to people who question their views, but what kind of blog would we have if no one responded to questions or counter points to their statements? It would look a lot like Hogs Haven, that what it would be.

by sduncan24 on Oct 19, 2009 10:40 PM CDT up reply actions

You Were the Person Who Chose

The word “force”, not me. I’ll let you decide which is more “ridiculous”: You saying that people “always forced” Terry to respond, or me pointing out that no such situation has existed.

And you completely missed my point. I am not arguing that people should not be allowed to discuss. On the contrary, people should be allowed to speak their peace, without others telling them what they should or should not post. So when someone tells another poster what he “should” post, that’s a censorious attitude. If you want to show you’re serious about letting people speak their mind, you should direct it towards those who are actually trying to prevent that speech, not those who are calling them out on it.

by kindablue on Oct 20, 2009 6:32 AM CDT up reply actions

I don't read

anywhere in that comment where he said you shouldn’t post, please point it out to me.

The comment that was made was that it shouldn’t be the only point he continues to make, not don’t post anymore.

I used the word force, but to harp on that word and not the thought of the post is getting off topic, this argument has gone beyond football and the Dallas Cowboys and has turned into two guys arguing semantics and apparently censorship. Let’s leave it at that.

I got a statistical question????

IF the Cards beat the Gnats in the Big Apple tomorrow, and the Skins somehow find enough pressure to put on the FilthyFowlz, how much will we move up on the Gnats in the NFC-East…Just curious is all…With a loss tomorrow, the Gnats would have 2 NFC losses, and the Boys would have 1 and 1…Im sure the Gnats would still be ahead statistically, but I was just curious as to how much if it came out to be like that…FEAR THE STAR
