Best Thing about Miles Austin

Now I have a use for all the Keyshawn merchandise in my closet.  The new Austin name tag on top of the old makes me very happy.  I figure I am saving at least $300 to retag the 3 Keyshawn Jerseys that I havent worn in Years!

And even more important we have a playmaker that compliments Tony and they should grow together over the next 10 years to be something special.

What do you guys think is the best thing about Miles' Emergence?

seriously..

I love the positive vibes coming from this team..

Do you tweak the offense to see what you have in Hurd and Ogletree or just keep it rolling?

Miles is a big play guy.

I guess I didn’t realize it until the last couple of games. I knew he was talented, but I couldn’t have ever predicted him making this kind of impact. Never underestimate the value of a receiver who can consistently stretch the field.

10 years?

Romo playing at 39? Well… He used to be a Farve (misspelled on purpose) fan…

He is a young 29

Hardly played at all his first three years, so he is like 26 in NFL years. I will take 6 more good ones.

Yeah, Peyton's 32

But he’s still considered to be in his prime

The deep threat opens up lots of things

for other receivers and the run game. Whenever defenses double him, it’ll open up Witten, Roy, Bennett, and anybody else in a passing route. Miles big play ability has the potential to keep the 8th man out of the box on defense, making it easier to run for Barber and company.

He's not the typical cocky WR

not an ounce of TO in his personality

by Kansas Cowboy on Oct 26, 2009 10:48 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I hope that you knocked on some wood.

Because when TO came into the league, they used to talk about how humble and polite he was, too. I remember them specifically mentioning that he always answered reporters with “yes, sir” and “no, sir” among other things.

Yeah, I worry about potential attitude problems in the future

Miles a great kid, but fame can go to anyone’s head. Hopefully his inner circle keeps him level.

Am I the only one who's nervous about being able to keep Miles?

We paid an arm and a leg to bet Roy, and you know if Austin keeps this up, his agent won’t settle for anything less than what Roy’s making.

I’m assuming Jerry’s smart enough to get something done, but it could get interesting.

Uncapped year next year,

There should be no issue about keeping anyone you want, just give them a big contract in the uncapped year.

by Dooud on Oct 27, 2009 12:24 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Most likely an uncapped year, yeah

But that’s not 100% confirmed, if I’m not mistaken.

I suppose Jerry initially planned to have Roy and T.O. playing this year, meaning he was willing to have two receivers earning close to $10 million a year…maybe he is willing to spend that much on one position. I dunno’.

also..

The Cowboys were under the cap this year anyway…cut some dead weight and avoid a really high draft pick (aka don’t be terrible for the remainder of the season) and they should be able to maneuver to keep Miles…

If there is one thing Jerry does..it’s spend his money. Gotta give him that.

Wade Phillips has never won a playoff game as a head coach..he has lost 4 home playoff games.
His longest tenure as head coach was 3 years.
Only once did his record as a HC improve from one year to the next (by 1 game)

i love watching him play

the grace of the WR is really probably the one thing I love most about this game in general. and from all the football I’ve watched, I can say now that Miles Austin has got it!

from a fan’s perspective, sometimes i think i’m just being a homer about it, but now i’m seeing that was we have seen in him really is there. he has all the attributes to be a great receiver. size, speed, strength, agility, catching, intelligence, route running, timing, shedding or evading tackles and getting yards after, long ball and short, to the outside and across the middle, willing to go up and fight for the ball, and take a hit after catching it, dedicated hard worker always striving to improve, great team first attitude, humble and articulate, and having a great fun time playing and showing it.

That all makes him great to watch. But there’s something about him that to me makes him especially amazing and fun to watch, which is a kind of grace. He has such size and strength in his body, yet he moves so smoothly. It’s an intangible thing, but I just love watching the way he makes plays.

I know it’s still only 2 games as a starter, he’s still got to show consistency, he’s still got to do it against top corners, he’s still got to deal with teams game planning against him more and studying him more on film, and he’s got to continue to strive to improve. but man, he is just torching these guys and looking very impressive doing it!

I think we may really have seen the breakout of a truly great new Dallas Cowboys receiver who we’ll get to enjoy watching light games up for years to come.

+1

With confidence I think he is only going to get better. He demonstrates one of the best aspects of the Parcells approach. Bring in a young, raw guy, train him the right way and this is the reward. Sort of like a good farm team approach in baseball. Very very few owners or GMs have the patience for it, but this is an excellent example of how it can work, when a team takes the time to mine the lower draft rounds and undrafted free agents.

I like the big play connection with Romo

This looks like a staple of the offense now. Almost all the big plays have come off the same route. Imagine, now he’ll start commanding double coverage. They can’t double everyone.

best thing about Miles is that ......he's not T.O.!!!

All joking aside, the kid simply has phenomenal talent and has a great attitude and work ethic.

I personally see Romo to Austin being one of the greatest qb/wr combos in franchise history before their playing days are over.

This kid is special and is well on his way to becoming a star in this league.

+1000 Winner Winner, Chicken DInner

I think that is the best answer and the best reason, Everything else, winning, TD’s playoff wins will hopefully come because of a better and infectious attitude that Miles brings to the team. How can you not like a guy who is obviously having that much fun?

Biggest Question....

How does anyone accumulate three (3) Keyshawn Johnson Dallas Cowboys jerseys? That’s exactly one jersey for every 100-yard receiving game Keyshawn had for the Dallas Cowboys.

I hope you also ordered a Jenkins name tag for your Julius jersey! =)

LOL, I have 3 ROY ROY 31's also

I buy some, people give me some, you know. I really liked Key when he played for us, but I think I will like Miles better. The Roy Roy jerseys make good rags.

I don’t know if Miles will be a star, but expect him to be at least a good WR for many years. I am still concerned about how often he gets hurt.

One thing that I liked was him catching it despite being interfered with.

On 2 of his 6 catches, including one of the TDs, he drew interference penalties and still made the catch, and on the TD, broke a tackle and took it home.

Not about Austin, but that’s the most accurate I have seen Romo in months. One of them, I had to pause the game and go get my gf so I could show her how perfect the pass was. She wasn’t as impressed, though.

Dump her! LOL!

KICK ASS every day!!!

by squidlo97 on Oct 27, 2009 4:52 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

She was like, isn't that what he's supposed to do?

She’s not a huge Romo fan. Loved Aikman. She’s in the medical field, so she expects efficiency and gets extremely frustrated with Romo’s sometimes erratic play and poor decision making. Plus, I got her out of the pool to come see, lol.
