A Fast Start...For Once
I'd love to see the Cowboys take the opening kickoff on Sunday, or force the Seahawks to punt on their initial drive and take possession, and then drive down the field for a touchdown right off the bat.
So far this season, the Cowboys offense has not scored a touchdown on their first possession. The only time they scored any points at all the first time they touched the ball was in Week 1, when they barely moved into field goal range. This inability to score seven points immediately goes back to 2008, where they last did it in the 12th game of the season. So that makes 10 consecutive games where they have failed to score a TD coming out of the gate.
Of course, this trend often means that the Cowboys fall quickly behind, or at least frustrate the heck out of us fans. Of course, we all know that Romo has always had a problem with early-game jitters, so that probably has the most to do with the offense's overall sluggishness to start games. In addition, perhaps Garrett is also just being cautious at the beginning, trying to find out the opposing teams defensive tendencies and such.
Whatever the reason, I'd love to see an early touchdown against the Seahawks by about 1:10pm EST. And for what it's worth, when they last scored a touchdown on their opening drive - which was in the 12th game of last season - it was against this same Seattle team. It's time to set the offensive tone again!

It's not how you start, it's how you finish that really matters

yep - some horses, as slow starters, have still won the Derby.
And I’m sure their owners weren’t upset because they weren’t fast starters.
However, I’d prefer for Dallas to score a TD every possession :)

Terry's right.
But it would be nice to see them play a solid four quarters of football on both sides of the ball. That would of course start with a stop of the Seattle offense and a Cowboy drive for touchdown. Time to set the tone.

For this team to take it to the next level, they have to start better.
Instead of falling behind bad teams, or even just letting them hang around, this team needs to show that it can come out and put it to someone. Games like this, they need to win big and win early.

give it time
It’s only the 7th game of the season, still a lot of games to go before they need to take it to another level.
It baffles me why fans want the team to place flawlessly so early in the season. The season is a marathon, not a sprint.

It baffles you why fans want their team to look sharp and play well? Okay…
And we all know that next week is not the Super Bowl. But, considering this team, coach, and QB’s history, they absolutely need to look good and win as many as possible early in the season. For a team that has been knocked for their mental mistakes, discipline, and preparation, at some point they need to show that they are not only improving in those areas, but consistently maintaining focus.
If they come out and are sloppy, turn the ball over, and look out of sorts, that would be 2 steps back for a team that took a big step forward last week.

every game, yes because it's impossible
no teams does it, they all have their peaks and valleys, I’d rather have the valleys early and peaks late

So because it is impossible for a team to play flawlessly every week, the fans shouldn’t want them to do it early in the season?

yes
you never want to peak too early, you want to get better as the season progresses.
We peaked too early in 2007, don’t want to do that again.

Who said they had to peak and fade?
Or how long the peak should last? Why can’t they just play well and then be consistent. Why can’t they play to their ability and continue to improve? They seem to fade EVERY year, why not peak early, then fade, so that they can peak again at the end of the season?
It seems ludicrous to want the team to not do well. But knowing that you feel that way certainly explains a lot of your stances on this board.

If every team has peaks and valleys
and we peak early, it is only logical we will fade after peaking.
I never said I don’t want the team to do well, I said if they are going to have low periods during the season, it’s better to have them early than late.

I don't expect them to perform flawlessly
Just wishing that they’d be able to put some sort of pressure on opposing teams by scoring early…

there are at least 10 more games
It will happen sooner or later, but it won’t happen all the time. As long they have a “W” at the end of the game, I don’t care how slow or how fast they start, as long as they get the job done before the clock reads 00:00 in the 4th.

We Jumped on Denver 10-0 Early...
that didn’t do us a lot of good. I agree with the sentiment though, I would love to see us dominate from start to finish.
