This is an open thread for game chat.

ESPN must be loving the fact they got this game on the shedule

not as much as FOX is loving

that they got the more “important” one in Green Bay

sure..keep telling yourself that.....

Romo can’t do what Favre is doing right now…I would trade Romo for a 40 yr old Favre in a hearbeat right now..

Romo can and has done already

see you suffer from short term memory loss

Did anyone hear Young earlier on Sportscenter

where he said he thought Romo played pretty well, he just didn’t have anyone to throw to. Did he miss all those open WRs that Romo couldn’t connect with? Idiot.

by selke99 on Oct 5, 2009 7:36 PM CDT reply actions

Steve Young is an idiot.

Watching him next to Matt Millen makes me want to jump off a high building.

Dang

I have Aaron Rodgers in my FF league…I am up by 14 going in to this game and my opponent has Chester Tayler, Brett Favre, and Jared Allen. That one play was a 7 point swing against me.

Why the hell do they challenge that?

Nah.

Romo will come around...

have to keep the faith. It is the only way I will maintain my sanity. Of course, one could argue I am already insane for keeping the faith in Romo.

I am keeping the faith with Romo. But only if they unshackle him and let him do his thing. Did you just see Aaron Rodgers get stuck when he tried to roll out? Romo, I think, would have evaded that sack.

by SB2008 on Oct 5, 2009 8:25 PM CDT reply actions

Rodgers threw a horrible INT

lets go on the packers blog and see if they want him benched and say he sucks.

I don't think after 1 INT.

He throws one of the best balls I’ve seen among active QBs.

Short QBs

not good. If you look at the best QBs in the league now they are 6’4+

Ummmm

most people think Brees is one of the top 3 QBs in the league.

by The Immortal Iron Fist AKA AFB on Oct 5, 2009 9:26 PM CDT up reply actions

He is one of the best short QBs in the past 20 years

but he’ll have his craptastic games just like Romo. Which is why people are always asking why he is so underrated.

by quincyyyyy on Oct 5, 2009 9:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Elway was only 6 foot 3

And Steve Young was 6 foot 2…

I just think that’s a very very very overrated number.

6'2 is the absolute limit

And I never thought Romo was 6’2.

by quincyyyyy on Oct 5, 2009 9:38 PM CDT up reply actions

the proof Romo is 6-2

is that he is taller than Tiger Woods who is 6-1, check out the pictures on BTB Facebook.

Brett Favre has also had a very up and down career

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=112 But he also has a cannon for an arm so that helps him a lot. He can make throws that Romo could never make.

Plus I don’t think Romo is actually 6’2. Romo has always looked shorter to me.

1) Favre (MIN)
2) Defense (GB)
3) Jennings (GB)

and my opponent has….

1) Ryan (GB)
2) Defense (MIN)

I can hardly tell what I’m supposed to be pulling for……LOL

by BishopWest on Oct 5, 2009 9:07 PM CDT reply actions

You want favre to throw a TD to Jennings then have the GB defense to recover a fumble for a TD on the ensuing KO.

Then, you’d be golden—even moreso if Grant happens to be the guy who fumbles.

Even if the coach is all "rah rah rah"....

….if the players don’t execute…..there’s no advantage to it

by BishopWest on Oct 5, 2009 9:23 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm really,

really down on Romo. Romo’s soft as puddin’. He completely lacks the grit that Favre has shown tonight.
I think he thinks he’s lucky to be in the NFL, and is just happy he is QB of the Cowboys, and because he has come this far, he thinks his work is done… and if he fails, aw hell, at least he gave it a great shot and was the Cowboys’ QB at one point in his life.
At his heart he can’t believe how far he’s come, so he has some deep seated doubts in his abilities, and because of that, he hears the boos and criticisms and they affect him deeply. So he is now totally doubting himself and his worth to be the QB/leader and his ability to be a winner.

BUT, I’m hoping he’s watching Favre tonight. I think it could spark something in him. Romo has the ability. I just think he’s riddled with doubt. I do’nt think he’s got a great mind, and in no way is using it going to help him. He just needs to feel what’s right and trust that instinct.
He’s at his best playing with that stupid grin. He shouldn’t clutter his mind with anything at all, let alone negativity.

by Joey2zs on Oct 5, 2009 9:15 PM CDT reply actions

Not just grit but talent

His accuracy was miserable yesterday. You can not be a starting QB in this league and throw balls like that. And don’t get me started on his decision making…

by quincyyyyy on Oct 5, 2009 9:19 PM CDT up reply actions

thats somewhat harsh

Alot I agree with but too say he is lcky to be in the nfl is a stretch…I respect what tony has accomplished.. The guy comes from a small school and does not get drafted to becoming the starter in dallas…I tip my hat to the guy..

by scandrick32 on Oct 5, 2009 9:20 PM CDT up reply actions

Oh really?

Credit to whom? The only big time “evaluator” in major college and NFL levels that was enamored with this QB Romo is Sean Payton. Are all recruiters/College football coaches and NFL scouts wrong? Face it, Romo doesn’t have a next level to ascend to. 2007 was a flash in the pan. This team is doomed to mediocrity for the next several years due to being oversold on this snake oil salesman QB and the contracts that the team owner insists on passing out. I know everyone likes to ride M Tex for his constant prodding about Romo, but he is RIGHT. Not about Henson, but he is right about Nomo Romo.

by Aaron Novinger on Oct 5, 2009 9:25 PM CDT up reply actions

Don't see that from where I'm sitting...

If he lacked talent he wouldn’t be in the NFL. He may be thinking to much, IMO. He needs some consistency on those medium-deep throws, but he’s better than many QBs in league right now. Too early to judge the season girls.

by CrazzyyHorse on Oct 5, 2009 9:25 PM CDT reply actions

Oh don't get me wrong

he was a very good QB in ’06 and ’07. But for some reason or another he declined. A lot of times with these QBs it just happens, no explanation. If you go look at previous pro-bowl QBs throughout the years you would be surprised at some of the names you would find.

by quincyyyyy on Oct 5, 2009 9:28 PM CDT up reply actions

That is B.S.

Garrett and Wade are not telling Romo to overthrow his receivers or behind them on slants. They are not the ones who tell Romo to ignore wide open receivers. I don’t know how you could blame Romo’s failings on them. It is a convenient excuse because coaches are a lot easier to replace than franchise QBs. But sad to say that is the case.

by quincyyyyy on Oct 5, 2009 9:33 PM CDT up reply actions

I think that his being held back is true to some degree.

They obviously came out against Carolina ready for him to drive the bus. Downfield shots (Tony’s favorites) were minimal and then completely absent in yesterday’s game. Those are his bread & butter throws. These sideline routes and dumpoffs while he should just tuck it and run are not his game.

I’m telling ya—he’s been JuliusJones’d.

by Elwood62 on Oct 5, 2009 9:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Phillips has his problems

but he has done a good job with the defense, which is what he was brought here to do. It’s just that RHG and Romo have not held up their end of the bargain.

by quincyyyyy on Oct 5, 2009 9:42 PM CDT up reply actions

That's why he need us ya'll

To stay strong and think positive, say a prayer it won’t hurt, you know, that he can be his personal best, dig deep for his lost inner BF. C’mon guys, member when we were saying he was a “Brett Favre starter kit”? Don’t know who came up with that, but I do know we were all true believers. I still believe and I’m gonna keep doing so until I’m sure as sure can be that it’s just not true.

Truly truly most truly disappointed in Jason Garrett, not sure I understand his thinking, it makes no sense.

I'm not always right, no one is.

Romo may be influenced by some fans that are close to him, but that’s not me, and I don’t think that’s you, though I could be wrong. I doubt that Romo ever reads this blog, and even if he did, if he lets what we say or don’t say influence his game, then he has a serious problem.

Sorry if I came across a little obtuse before, it wasn’t intentional. I respect your opinion even if I disagree sometimes.

by BishopWest on Oct 6, 2009 12:22 AM CDT up reply actions

I didn't mean that

Sorry Bishop (what diocese are you from:) It’s just that I’m thinking that if we’re not careful (as a blob sort of creature) a mob will form and throw a good quarterback under the bus. The kind of negativity that we see here daily on this blog that attacks Tony oRmo cuz he is _________, or isn’t___________, and definitely is____________, but will never be_________, well it just gets me to thinkin, that yes, as a collective this negativity spreads like a disease among the frustrated spoiled rotten Dallas Cowboys fans. We need to calm down and be the best fans we can be.

There’s a lot of criticism that can be heaped on us as well. Like, why the hell can’t we be more like the KC fans who I think are sooooo freakin obnoxious for their behavior, but I’d be giving out awards for the same if Cowboys fans would be like that. Truth be told, I’m jealous of their fervor, especially when they have no reason in the whole wide freakin world to even give them a passing thought.

I’m just as frustrated as anybody here Bishop, just wish everybody would wait to execute the team until we have the final FINAL results.
