Around SBN: Are The Orioles Bad Or Unlucky With Their Young Pitching?

Watching film paid off for the Cowboys' defense this week, particularly on the Eagles' short-yardage plays. Coach Phillips talked about the success they had in shifting the defensive ends in over the guards.

"(Nose tackle Jay) Ratliff played it real well in there too," Phillips said. "We moved everybody inside."

Phillips said video showed the Eagles usually called a quarterback sneak over right guard in fourth-and-one situations.

"That's the play we had worked on," he said. "(McNabb) is a strong quarterback, and they have run a lot of sneaks for first downs, especially on fourth down. So we had a special defense ready for that."

Phillips said the Eagles tipped their hand when they lined up on fourth-and-one from their own 42 in the third quarter.

Harbaugh

You run your mouth and dare talk crap about the cowboys and then call the owner to apolgize??? what did he say to Jerry? “Oh, Im sorry, I didn’t mean it that way?”….If you’re gonna talk crap, then stand up to it…..grow a pair Harbaugh….you’re an idiot!

he said it

to sell books. Would any of us known that he had one if he didn’t insult our team? No.

Wade outcoaches Reid, who would have thunk

Just goes to show you that you don’t have to be the intense, rah rah guy most fans expect a HC to be.

Wade has tons of experience and knows the game as well as anyone. Don’t let his aw shucks demeanor fool you.

I like Wade.

I always enjoy making fun of him during the games.

I like Wade as a Def Coord.

Dunno about HC yet. Seems like he looses it from time to time.

Wade has won 70% of his games as HC here

That’s pretty good any way you look at it.

Aye to that.

Wade had to put up with a tremendous amount of negative crap from local media types from the moment he was announced. His training camp was too soft. He wasn’t entertaining in his pressers. He’s boring. He’s a doofus.

He’s taken Big Bill’s core of defensive players and augmented that with his own and built a pretty good unit, and potentially really good.

I have always thought Wade was a very good DC.

I have questioned him as a HC. I hope he makes me eat crow.

Me too

For the first time in his tenure, I am actually feeling positive about the Wade/Redball combo and wondering if they can actually enjoy playoff success together.

I sure hope so because if we have to change our coaching staff, that makes this team’s window of opportunity that much smaller.

Agreed.

I agree to a point...

I never had an issue with Wade as the coach because of what Dungy did.

But I have a HUGE issue with Jason Garrett… He’s no good. When I watch the offense, it seems like we are scoring in spite of his play calling. I always hear about this guy being some kind of offensive mastermind, but if that’s true then why is it he can’t figure out a way to use Roy? If the “coaching staff” that was in Detroit at the time could do it, why can’t he?

Don’t get me wrong, Roy Williams is also to blame, but this is just crazy. Witten hasn’t had a single game where he looked like the best TE in football this year. And after starting the season with what looked to be the best RB group in the NFL, we are passing until the middle of the 4th qtr… WTF?

So anyways, Wade is cool with me, but JG needs to be replaced in the offseason. Honestly, Dallas shouldn’t score less than 24 a week with all these weapons.

Genius my ass…

I'm a limousine-riding, jet-flying, kiss-stealing, wheeling-dealing son of a gun!!! Wooooo!!!

I've questioned him as well.

When the team falls apart, you have to question. I’m just sayin’, it hasn’t been an easy task to be the HC of the Dallas Cowboys, and he’s done pretty well at quite a few things.

Did you know?

Wade Phillips is 3-2 against the Eagles as head coach of the Cowboys.

by EagirlsSuck on Nov 10, 2009 7:36 PM CST reply actions

I admit

I was never a Wade fan. As much as I do believe he can run a good defense, as a HC he just didn’t wow me. For several reasons the team is coming together nicely right now and Wade is a part of that. He’s doing well and I hope he continues. If at the end of the season Jerry decided to go another direction at HC would it break my heart. I don’t think so. On the other hand, better the devil you know. We have seen what Wade can do and Jerry has won with Barry Switzer as HC, so why not Wade.

Not gonna lie, that defense worried me

Philly has run that qb sneak over guard for years on short yardage, and it always seems to be a ridiculously successful play. And to be fair, we probably didn’t stop it even knowing it was coming.

But the way we lined up…anything outside was gonna be a big problem. I’ve seen too many barber runson short yardage where he takes it up the gut, bounces it outside and has a huge run to feel confident throwing that defense out there in the future.
