Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

Dear Anthony,

This is your week. There, I said it. I agree with Wade that playing OLB is not all about sacks, and yes, you have done a solid job against the run and getting pressure, but come on. This is what the Packer's website says about their projected RT for Sunday, T.J. Lang:

That left Lang, who has started two games this season at left tackle, to take the majority of the snaps on the right side on Wednesday. The rookie has already done his fair share of bouncing around this season, seeing time at both of the guard spots during the preseason before making the shift to left tackle after Chad Clifton sustained an ankle injury in Week 2....

<and don't forget this gem>

The last time Lang started at right tackle in a game was his sophomore year at Eastern Michigan, when he opened the first 10 games of the season there before shifting over to left tackle for the final two contests. He started all 24 games over his final two collegiate seasons at left tackle.

Star-divide

This is your week. Man up. Could you possibly dream up a better opportunity? I am honestly asking...

Coach Winters: Mississippi State's offensive set. 2nd & 2 on our own 24, what defensive set might we call?
Alvin Mack: Eagle Zipper Hero, unless the setback shifts into the I.
Coach Winters: Good..[clicks to next slide], third and seven?
Alvin Mack: Oakie Thunder Lion. {What's your assignment?}
Alvin Mack: Kill the quarterback. {{Coach Winters clicks to next slide}}
Alvin Mack: Hit the tight end so hard his girlfriend dies. {{Coach Winters clicks to next slide}}
Alvin Mack: Kill everybody.

Stop drooling

I watched T.J. closely in the Minnesota game { I was one that wanted the Cowboys to draft him earlier this year.} and he played fairly well. The line as a whole basically sucked , but he did alright. I think the boys are going to get their fair share of sacks, but I expect to see Lang play better than some seem to think. Spencer has been very close so it would be nice to see him get a sack.

Lang would have been a solid pick for Dallas

Flozell is pretty damn good at LT, yet Tony ran for his life last year.

Why? Because, our guard sucked. The Packers line is probably mad and out to prove something this week. Don’t expect anyone to roll over for you. Unless it is Favre for Strahan. Man did he look like a b*tch in heat or what?

The problem with that theory is that Dallas will most likely work to get Ware as many snaps as possible against the weaker tackle.

Despite the lack of sacks, I have no problem with 93s work this year. DE/OLBs usually need lots of game reps before they learn all the tricks in the NFL, and the actual number of sacks isn’t always the best way to determine a pass rusher’s effectiveness (I’m thinking in particular of the season when Indy won the Super Bowl, and Freeney had 5.5 sacks).

Spencer will get there eventually.

I think if you put two of my best seasons together it wouldn't come up with the numbers he's going to have at the end of the season. -Troy Aikman on Tony Romo

At some point the complete lack of sacks is a concern, even though he's playing "well" overall

Luckily Ratliff is getting some, but this is a 3-4, and you need the OLine to respect the other side-Even Ellis would still be good for 8-12 sacks

playing across from DWare. I mean, how do you play opposite DWare and not even have one sack halfway through the season??

People can only say, “Well, he’s been close to a lot of sacks!” so many times. He needs to grab a few, even if he just lucks into some cheap ones, to really complete this 3-4.
