Did any good come from the packers game?
I know for the most part the game was extremely hard to watch. I t was almost unbearable. But, some good things did happen.
I know everybody is blaming RW for the loss, and he did make two huge plays that really cost us. But, he also got going a little bit and it looks like he may be able to really contribute during this last stretch. He created separation and put himself in position to make plays. Also it looked like he and Romo were on the same page for the whole game, which is the first time this year we've really seen that. Eventually he and Miles Austin will both contribute in the same game, and when that comes we'll be dangerous.
I thought Romo played pretty well despite being under pressure all game and having his running game taken away although we were either tied or down a measly 3-0. I know we were in 3rd and longs a lot, but we needed to run the ball much more, Marion has played well against the pack in his career.
I thought the defense played very well for a long time. They stopped the run for the most part and held the explosive packers to basically 10 points (that fumble put them against the wall). I liked what the defense did all game, but correct me if I'm wrong I think we had 5 staright 3 and outs, and any defense would get tired. I felt like they were on the field all game.
The thing I'm really cocerned about though, is Nick Folk. He had off-season hip surgery and hasn't been the same since he came back. I don't think its time to use beuhler but Nick's gotta start drilling kicks like he used to.
In all it was a rough game. And, we were completely outplayed. But, there were some decent things that happened that may improve us as a team in the near future.

yea there were good things
Romo was absolutely a positive. He played tough football all day despite running for his life.
RW, though I absolutely hate him today, was probably a positive in that he showed that he and Romo are getting better and better.
Defensively….there were few negatives. I find it very hard to blame the D for this loss. Give them some.
The oline was awful, and in their two games against 3-4 Ds, our offense has been pitiful. The injury to Columbo is a huge one. The negative from this group definitely outweighs the positives mentined above.

If he hits
Austin the entire game is different. I agree.

The 2nd great showing by the defense
The defense have pretty much shut down two of the most explosive passing teams in the league two weeks in a row, to me, that was the silver lining in this game.

This will sound strange..
But if the Boys were going to pick a week to just plain blow in a game, this was a good week to do it. (Non division opponent).

absolutely, on the road to boot
we beat our divisional opponents we’ll win the East, simple as that.

Win the 4 division games left, and Oakland, and yes we'll be 11-5 at worst.
that should win the division. I’m hoping we’ll beat the Chargers, though, and go into the last Philly game with nothing on the line for us, and rest the starters.

I agree with Terry.
Not to jinx it, but when’s the last time we’ve given up a big play? The Packers had one sustained drive that ended in a touchdown. The other touchdown they scored was after the Romo fumble from the five-yard line. They shut Philly down too. I just hope Ken Hamlin and Mike Jenkins are alright. I didn’t realize how bad we are without them.

Uh, yeah man. Our backups are pretty terrible.
Our depth in the areas we had injuries sucks. Not much to speak of on the O-line, and our backup guys in the secondary (other than Scandrick) are atrocious. That’s when Green Bay started scoring pretty much is when Hamlin and Jenkins went down. And that’s when we stopped moving the ball is when Colombo went out. Those injuries killed us. Plus when you have Folk shanking field goals, Garrett passing the ball on 3rd and goal at the 1 yard line, Roy Williams dropping passes and fumbling in the open field, and retarded refs it’s going to be a long day. If anything good came out of this game it’s that maybe they’ll wake the ‘f up and prepare every week like they’re playing in the Super Bowl. Never underestimate teams, that’s how you get beat.

you have to give the pack credit
they we’re 4-4 and fighting for they’re playoff lives. They were more motivated then us and punched us in the mouth. I’m not saying that it’s acceptable, but they had their back against the wall and played a hell of a game especially defensively. it would have been huge if we could have won, but hopefully we will be 8-3 in two weeks, and on pace to a division title. if Minnesota can lose a few (wishful thinking they still play NYG, AZ, surging Car, CHI) we may even have a shot at a bye… but let’s win our division first.

I'm not taking anything away from them at all.
They wanted it more and they went out and took it, plain and simple. We allowed it though. The injuries can’t really be helped, that was just unfortunate. But there’s a laundry list of other things we did that killed any chance we might have had at winning the game. Hopefully this game serves as a wake-up call. Preparation has to get better and be consistent. You can’t get comfortable, the minute you do that you’re in trouble. Also Jason Garrett did a horrible job of play-calling. He’s been good for that last few games, but yesterday he was terrible.

I don’t buy the whole “they wanted it more” argument. The Packers are a good team. It was on their home turf. They got every possible break (injuries, replays). Roy Williams was awful. It was just one of those days. None of that has to do with want.
Watch Romo on the touchdown drive again and tell me he didn’t want to win more than anybody else on the field.
And to say we were unprepared is wrong. Romo looked prepared. The defense looked prepared. The O-Line didn’t play well, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t prepared. You can prepare all you want, but unless you execute, it don’t mean nothing.

hey, sometimes you eat the bear
and sometimes the bear eats you. Losses happen in the NFL. I think fans over analyze losses way too much.

We were going to lose one
After the win in Philly, it was pretty easy to start dreaming of a seven game win streak, with GB, Wash, and Oak on the schedule. But this is not a 9-2 team. We’re just not that good, that consistent (I know, hindsight is…blah blah). So losing one of those three games was bound to happen. My money was on the annual dogfight against the Skins, so I’ll gladly take the loss outside the division.
Try to look at it this way—with the loss this week and the Skins win over Denver, there’s no way the Cowboys overlook this game. They come out and play like the better team that they are, and head into December at 8-3, still leading the division but still having to fight for their playoff lives. That, I think, is a great position to be in moving towards the postseason.

I agree with you partly...
…but it’s they way in which they lost that I have a problem with. And now they have injuries to contend with.
The 2009 Dallas Cowboys: Talk to me in December.
The NFC East has won 11 Super Bowls; oddly none of those have come courtesy of the Eagles.

not that good??
There are only 4 teams in the league with better records. The Cowboys are good, and there have only been 4 teams better and more consistent.

Ease up there, Terry.
Context, context, context. The Cowboys are good. They’re right up there where their record says they are, with the top teams in the league. HOWEVER, they’re not 9-2 good. That’s what I meant, sorry if it wasn’t clear. 8-3 sounds about right—and it’s better than most of us hoped for at the beginning of the year.
Now go defend the star against some other dejected hater—I’m actually on your side :)

the difference between 9-2 and 8-3
with all the close games in this league is negligible. The Giants, Chiefs, Eagles, Broncos games could’ve gone either way based on a couple plays.
What if Romo doesn’t throw the ball to Kenny Phillips on an incomprehensible, boneheaded play?
What if the Chiefs manage just one or two more positive plays in that game (say, make that fg that ratliff blocked?)
What if the Eagles get that first down spot?
What if Romo and Austin connect in Denver instead of going oppositive was and giving Champ the INT? WHat if Spencer catches the ball that slips between his fingers and returns it for a td?
I know most people don’t like this view, but I think you’ve gotta view the nfl in terms of probability. Right now, we’re a good not great team, cause we’re not offensively capable of pounding these teams and putting points on the board.
I don’t think we played significantly worse against GB than Philly. The line wasn’t that much worse. Against Philly, we made big plays and got timely (but correct calls) that took away big plays from them. Against GB, we didn’t make plays and got very untimely calls that reversed important plays.

There could be positives...
If Free can step up and show his worth…
If the defense can continue to play at this level…
If Romo and Roy continue to improve their timing.
But..
The major negative was injuries..
Colombo really hurt
Hamlin is no gem – but Pat Watkins is even worse
and…I don’t know how this post singles out Scandrick as the one guy that didn’t get dogged.
It seemed that many of the 3rd down pick up and loosely played coverage that allowed for big chunks of yardage were thrown right at Scandricks man with little hesitation. Once he got in GB really picked on him..looked like he had regressed a lot..especially when you compare him to Jenkins
