giants are probably gonna win
meaning we NEED this one.
Anybody know when FOX switches to a closer game because I’m stuck watching Minnesota and Seattle. Come on FOX it’s 35-3.
Lol
feel sorry for you

Barbarian rolls
Keep doing what you been doing, keep getting what you been getting.
bigtime play
the rare time Romo says kill and something good happens
Wide open...Romo misses the pass...
…where I have seen this before?
Was that one all Romo Terry?
It sure looked like it

Marion the Barbarion strikes again
Great run
Scott
Another bad pass to a wide open receiver
and another pass on first down
Is it too much to ask
for Romo to throw a second good pass?
Keep doing what you been doing, keep getting what you been getting.
Pretty much sums up the whole team today...
Make one play miss another
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.

Footwork

I would say footwork is a symptom of mental engagement

This loss is on Romo
can’t wait for sports talk radio this week here in DC…
What is wrong with us?
This is the 3-6 redskins.
I have noticed a new resurgence in Cowboy hating in 2007, which can only mean one thing- We're back.
Dallas just breaks your heart, don't they?
"Emotion is highly overrated in football. My wife Corky is emotional as hell but can't play football worth a damn."
- John McKay, the first coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Romo is at best not into it, or at worst has quit
I am no Kitna fan but he can’t be worse
The passes to wide open players who are uncatchable
I didn’t say he has quit, but it is possible. His head isn’t there and he has had three plus quarters to harden up and play football

The INT was not all that costly

yup
we’re awful…i know anything can happen, but we’re just not a playoff team right now.
I have noticed a new resurgence in Cowboy hating in 2007, which can only mean one thing- We're back.
our 3rd down defense has to be the worst in the league

2nd timeout for Washington
That might cost them.

It's tough to beat a high school team...
…if you can’t get to the endzone.
2009 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2009 New York Jets: 11-5?
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25
We just can't stop them can we?
How about we try to get onwe paly where they dn’t gain yards

We've stopped them many times
hence the 3 points

A good team
would have us 44-0 by now.
Keep doing what you been doing, keep getting what you been getting.
To be honest
Even after the Eagles game I felt like Saints would beat us 41-21 or something.
But the Saints aren’t flying as high anymore as they were a couple of weeks ago.
Obviously neither are the Cowboys.
2009 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2009 New York Jets: 11-5?
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25
would be beating us 44-0

in 2 weeks, we start playing good teams
"Emotion is highly overrated in football. My wife Corky is emotional as hell but can't play football worth a damn."

not at all
defense is playing well aside from 3rd and long.
a good team would have us at 17-0 like GB last week
D can't come up w critical stops
O is hopeless. And I am completely befuddled by the O’s sudden inability to do anything
Always be more than you appear and never appear to be more than you are
I bet our D could come up with critical stops
if they played against our offense…
This is awful...
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
yes it's depressing
I have noticed a new resurgence in Cowboy hating in 2007, which can only mean one thing- We're back.
The D reminds me of good pitchers on bad teams
who have a 12-12 WL with a low ERA and get about 2 runs per game support
It's crunch time for the D

Christ, all these lost opportunities
On the day the offense plays as well as the defense, we’re gonna win 38-3.
2009 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2009 New York Jets: 11-5?
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25
any win over wwashington would make me proud
I’m sure as he** proud of our defense today
this D gets more impressive every week
(to me at least).
If we learn how to stop these 3rd downs….we’re elite
+1
The problem is that we have a DC and an OC but don’t have a HC.
"Emotion is highly overrated in football. My wife Corky is emotional as hell but can't play football worth a damn."
- John McKay, the first coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
4th quarter
game on the line. All we have to do is drive the ball and score. Who else is ready for another Romo heartbreaking loss?
For now...
I’ll settle with a 7-6 victory.
But if the Cowboys talk about “looking into the mirror,” the next four days a time to do so.
2009 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2009 New York Jets: 11-5?
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25
it needs to take a long time
cause I feel like our D is at the breaking point
at this point I'd take any W any which way we can get it
we desperately need it to stay ahead, and to give the kiss of death to the Skins season
no better chance than this to score
It’s up to Romo now…

I'd love to see a breakdown of
run/pass on first down.
We are down 6 points. Can still run
Dallas needs to conserve timeouts
they will be big later…

2009 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2009 New York Jets: 11-5?
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25
Good decision
maybe Tony will wake up now
there ya go good play romo
and he can’t slide there cause he probably wouldn’t have gotten it.
I think he's trying to loosen up their run D.

The offense is a train wreck. Its a short week and then we have the Raiders, but in that 10-day break, Dallas has to reinvent their offense or they are toast.

I'd say quite a few players didn't "engage" early
Romo didn’t play good most of the game until clutch time came and then he played great. Isn’t that what so many QB’s are judged on?? Most of the offense didn’t engage early and played like holy crap. Romo stepped up and won us a game at the end though. It sucked how we won but it’s better than a loss.

Cowboys today...
Is this the sign of:
A) a mediocre team getting lucky?
or…
B) a good team that dug deep down and got a gutsy win?
2009 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2009 New York Jets: 11-5?
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25
i would say a team of unknown capability
that played witha ton of heart and pulled out a win over a division rival thats given us tons of problems the last few years
More B, than A...
Defense has been great…
Jason has tinkered too much with the offense…
Yeah, but Jason can't go from extreme to extreme...
He’s smarter than that.
I'll say B.
I’d like to think we’re just “saving” our best for last. We knew the deadSkins couldn’t score, so we just didn’t worry about revving up our engines on offense (see Florida Gators vs. Tennessee Volunteers).
Probably will be the same way Turkey Day, although a little better. You don’t want to give everything away for the league to see.

that would have been 21-7.

it does happen
it’s the nature of speaking about the game from play to play. it’s why people post during the game.
however, aussie cowboy, are you serious? it was 6-0 with minutes to go in the game. Cowboys had forced no turnovers, but committed turnovers, they missed field goals and teh redskins missed 2.
You don’t own the moral high ground by saying people were overreacting – AFTER the decision is final.
If you were in a car skidding out of control towards a guard rail, but it stopped all of a sudden… would you mock those in the car who expected the collision?
I'm not trying to claim "moral high ground"
Just commenting on how so many fans are extremely negative. Calling for Romo to be benched, saying the season is over and that the team has given up. Frankly I see it as rather ridiculous.

but people speak/post from play to play… so it’s only natural they exaggerate the importance of each play.
i dont begrudge you exaggeration at times, but when it becomes the norm, you can't complain about an optimist's reaction
Doomsday returns... Wade Phillips style.
It's just fan reaction. I don't think there's anything wrong with it
Fans react negatively when the team is playing poorly and they react positively when the team is playing well and they post accordingly. I don’t think very many Cowboy fans have emotions that run in neutral for very long.
You can do a lot of things in life. You can't stab a teammate with a pair of scissors. - Kevin Smith
the Cowboys O played like crap, but the negative comments started the moment Barber fumbled...
I believe that was the opening drive? And we looked good up to that point. And Barber is not known for fumbling … AND WHO KNEW HOW THE GAME WOULD PROGRESS… the pessimists turned out to be right, it was a game similar to last week… UGLY … but with 5 minutes to go in the first quarter I started to take exception to all of the AT THAT TIME overly pessimistic ranting … so shoot me :)
Bottom line for me: we have championship caliber units on both sides of the ball… we’re 7-3 … we’ve got TONS OF ROOM for humility and improvement … I kinda like where we are right now.

i have my doubts
I see the last 3 weeks as its own group of games, where the offense has played poorly and the defense has played very well. In two of them, the offense did JUST enough to win and in one it didn’t.
2 gutsy wins in 3 weeks
over division rivals. It wasn’t pretty for sure, and our offensive obviously has a ways to go, but these were 2 wins that showed the heart of this team.
I may be wrong, only time will tell, but I think a much improved defense and a qb who does a better job managing the game will lead to finally lead to some late season victories.
The Team That Played Better Lost Today
That’s why in the NFL a win is a win.
Greetings from the Humungus, the Ruler of the Wasteland, the Ayatollah of Rock and Roll-A. I laugh at your puny plans.
that team
couldn’t get much going at all against our D. They played marginally better at best.
yeah?
If the skins have an average kicker, the Cowboys lose. Period.
an average kicker
still struggled to hit 47 and 50 yarders. Those are not sure things. Give the defense some credit.
field goals
aren’t TDs. the Defense get gets the game ball… but the margin here was razor thin. Those who are critical of the cowboys effort are right… those who are relieved and happy the cowboys won are right… those who are concerned are right… but those who are on moral soapboxes insulting those who are concerned about only 7 points and a narrow win aren’t right. They’re self righteous jackasses.
o i agree the margin was thin
a win against washington is a good win no matter how it happens. We have lost to this team time after time even in our best years.
We absolutely have to improve offensively, yes. But dude…they’re our rival. We’ve beaten washington and philly with gutsy play and just enough offense in 2 of the last 3 weeks.
Joey, excellent points...
I’m one of those “moral soapboxes” not because I’m not also concerned, but because of the absolute tidal wave of pessimism starting with the team’s first mistake.
If criticism were candy, we’d all be diabetics.
Do the Boys have things to work on? Sure. Is there room for criticism and concern? Absolutely.
Is the sky falling? Did we just get blown out by the Eagles with a playoff birth on the line? … from a large percentage of posts, you would think so.
I’ll continue to remind the pessimists WHEN their positions are far from reality.
We’re 7-3, have a top 10 defense AND offense, with both units showing potential to be GREAT… sorry if my optimism offends anyone :)
Doomsday returns... Wade Phillips style.
thats such a ridiculous argument
If the skins didn’t have a very solid defense, we would’ve won easily. period.
If the skins had a great qb we would’ve lost. period.
I can play this game too.
actually
he played better than i expected. campbell may have the skills to be the equivalent of mcnabb. shame he’s in that circus of an organziation.
hes not a bad qb i agree with you
hes right now kinda like a poor man’s eli with running ability i think – he takes what the defense gives him and buys time with his feet, he rarely if ever beats himself…but they do not score much at all and that is a sign of a qb whose not in the top 10 of the league.
Today he played well, but generally hes missing the opportunities for big plays when they’re there.
Agreed, our D was excellent
And got the turnover when it counted.

earthworms and intelligence
I’m compelled to write by the negative commenters on this board. Cut newman, cut scandrick, fire garrett, bench romo, cut roy williams, etc. Is this supposed to be serious a comment? Play a team of kitna, pat mcq, allan ball, and kevin ogleetree. Do you have the intelligence than an earthworm? I can tell you how that would turn out. Poorly.
Dallas had the 2nd or 3rd best offense in the league going into the GB game. I re-watched the GB game. The offense looked great on the first drive. It bogged down after columbo went down. To me its obvious what changed. Free for Columbo. If you want to say the dallas offensive players are bad it’s incumbent on you to explain what changed. Why did they go from being a top 5 offense to being a bad offense.
My explanation would be that while Free hasn’t been terrible its been enough of a drop-off to tip the offense and have a dramtic impact. First there are little plays where he lunges and whiffs on a run block resulting in negative plays, leaving 2 and 10 instead of 2 and 7. Garrett’s options are then circumscribed in 2 ways: one by down and distance and second by the need to protect Free. I suspect the biggest difference is the changes we can’t see. The extra blocker garrett is keeping in to help Free, the plays Garrett isn’t calling because he doesn’t have confidence in Free yet (which btw is exactly the right thing to do). And its not Garrett’s fault that Barber fumbled on the 20. If Dallas is up 7, Garrett had more flexibilty to call the game. So if you want to call for someone’s head, start with Free and follow that up with Barber or maybe Demarcus Ware for not being able to get a sack against the skins 2nd string left tackle.

So It Takes A Genius To Be Happy With The Way Dallas Played Today?
Or more specifically Romo? Sorry, chief, but the vast majority of us get upset when the Cowboys play terribly because they are a team of superior talent. Playing down to Washington’s level is unacceptable. We won today, and in a 16 game season that’s all that matters. But there doesn’t need to be any champagne popping with anyone on the offensive side of the ball. The D really stepped up today and put Romo, who was having a terrible game, in the position to win.
You may not like the negative comments, but don’t you dare accuse fans who want to hold their team to a certain standard of being stupid. That being said, there are knee jerk reactions that are just silly, but being positive doesn’t indicate intellectual superiority.

saying to bench Romo and cut X player who just made a bad play
I know it’s out of frustration, but it does frustrating to read it over and over when it actually is really stupid
the most idiotic comments that I’m singling out are the various calls to play Kitna, cut newman, cut Roy Williams, run more, fire garrett, fire Phillips, etc.
did you make any of those comments? if you did I think you’re either not serious or an idoit. if not you can probably ignore my comment.

an extremely frustrating game that had 2 good drives… one on the ground in the first quarter that ended in a fumble, and one in the last 3 minutes through the air that ended in a TD… everything in between was pretty uneven, drive killing mistakes, missed FG…
the D played well overall, and was saved by 2 Suisam missed FGs, but typically gave up too many 3rd and longs..
You just saved Raf a butt load of time
writing up his game summary!
I wonder if “run first” is going to be this week’s mantra?
FREE THE OGLETREE!!!
we were worse offensively this game than the GB game
but you have to factor in Romo’s injury somehow.
you do
just ask terry. it was probably the most heroic effort on any person’s part ever.
Will you just stop...
Romo was off even before the hit to his side, but he made a play when it counted.
yeap his passes were off even before the hit
he was something like 2 out of 5 for 12 yards
thats definitely true
but Romo generally starts slow and heats up. The injury CLEARLY affected his ability to get the ball downfield accurately. Even our last drive, we had a bunch of 10 yard passes.
once he got that first down running
it was like the juices started flowing and the Romo of old returned. kinda strange.
Tony is a very good end of half/end of game qb.
earlier in the game on third and long he didnt bother to run (looked like he would of made it) and threw the ball away
was that because of the injury or mental cramp
i didn't think it was nearly as obvious that he would've got it.
there looked like there were two redskins defenders about 15 yards off the LOS. getting 10 wouldn’t have been easy but he may’ve been able to get it.
I imagine we had 10-yard passes all game, but
the receivers weren’t running 10 yard routes… Jason has yet to show me that he has a short passing game, when the defense shuts down our intermediate routes…
They threw one to Roy early in the game...
Pass was tipped, almost intercepted… never saw it again… haven’t seen a circle route to one of the backs since Felix caught one for 30 yards several games ago… Is Jason that dim?
Isn't that what we wanted??
Last year, with T.O. , we kept trying to go deep all the time. Once the D figured that out, we kept trying anyway and ended up with 3rd and longs with an injured backfield.
With our running game, we should be trying to pass underneath to set up manageable conversions.
Redskins Defense
going into this game, I didn’t give them enough credit, trying to discount their #1 pass D ranking due to the strength (or lack thereof) of schedule.
But I have to give them credit. And give Dallas’ offense a little bit of a break. They are a good defense. I certainly don’t feel good putting up only 7 points against them and being shut out for 57 minutes. But keeping in mind that they are actually a tough D helps keep it in perspective a little bit. And the offense made the drive when it counted, and put it the points it needed to for the win, thanks to an over solid outing by our defense and a couple missed FGs by Suisam.
their D is legit
They blew two plays against philly, but aside from that…they’ve been fantastic all year.
Still…we could’ve played much better offensively.
their D has given us trouble for a while now
second game last year was hard fought.
first game last year the forced us into may 3 and outs and shut down TO.
second game 2007 we got railed.
first game 2007 TO blew up.
second game 2006 was the crazy fg game, we didnt do too well offensively that game either,
I wonder how much did JJ pay Suisham LOL
he used to kick for the Boys before. Speaking of kickers Billy Cundiff is the man in Baltimore
