[UPDATE: Coach Phillips says that Witten will be a game-time decision. END UPDATE]

Both Jason Witten and Tony Romo were limited in practice today, Todd Archer reports.

Witten has a sprained foot, which he suffered Sunday vs. Washiungton and is more of an issue because of the short week. Romo has been limited the last two days in the "sped up" walkthroughs but he said he will play Thursday.

If Witten is unable to go, Martellus Bennett would get the start.

"I'm always ready," Bennett said. "I'm usually playing 50 plays out of 65 so that's just 10 extra plays. I'm ready to do whatever is needed."

no wonder Kitna is getting more snaps

Very interesting.

We need Romo and Witten, but I think we can win with Tellus, not so sure about Kinta.

I heard it on Wade's presser.

Witten is tough as hell. Anyone who can play with a broken jaw like he did is hard to keep down.

How bout dem Frogs!!!!

if he's hurt, I'd rather he rests now

as important as he is in every game, he’s going to be more important after the raiders

This is why Dallas keeps drafting TEs

They run patterns, they block on the edge and they play FB.

I would rather rest Witten. I don’t care how tough he is. He has nothing to prove to me. The Cowboys should win with Bennett as the down-the-field TE and Phillips as the blocker. We’ll just see more of Anderson that normal.

I want to see Witten healthy for the Giants, Chargers and Saints. Dallas is going to need every point it can squeeze out of those games. If he plays and aggravates his foot after three days of rest he could be crocked the rest of the year. Give him one game off and get him as close to 100% as possible.

I would echo this sentiment for anyone non essential.

Is Felix 100%? If we get a decent lead, would it be crazy to give Romo some seat time?

by Benthere on Nov 24, 2009 7:20 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

agreed.

I would like to see what Martellus can as the primary TE option. I do think there times Witten could get more yards and turn a 5yd catch in to a big gain. I also know Witten is a sure handed and dependable as they come-both blocking and Recieving.

i don't think its worth further injury

tellus would fill in just fine… i’d rather miss witten against the raiders, than push him to play and risk further injury… feet injuries are messy business… rest now, jason witten, for you will certainly be needed to finish our playoff push

no they don't

I wish they would dress him and see how we start and then go from there.

i think coaches think like that

i know for sure that if wade would tell witten to try his best to play the game, and then he goes out and further injures his foot that keeps him out 4-6 weeks, many people on this site and in the media would raise hell about the decision

I'm not worried about Witten being out....

Bennett will fill in nicely and to be honest Witten hasn’t been that effective this year for whatever reason…

Witten has been ineffective this year.....

It’s almost as if he’s lost a step. I’d hate to see how bad he looks when playing injured. He has been really slow, and not getting much seperation at all. If you have him on your Fantasy team, you are cursing him every week!!!

Let’s give MartyB a shot to go downfield and make some big plays.

Without a #1 Receiver

his numbers are down. Teams are putting their top shutdown corner on Witten and using their safety to check the seam. Besides, Witten has been held in to block more this year than in the past. Our WR’s are the problem. They can’t get open against single coverage without safety help over the top. We need a #1 receiver for Witten to be more effective.

He does look slow for some reason....when he catches the ball it's like he is running in quicksand...

I pointed this out sometime ago and I love witten to no end, but dont be surprised if he doesn’t see another contract especially if Marty B keeps improving..

He is still the biggest problem for Ds

They use there best cover man on him alot. I don’t think Jerry will let him go anywhere.

How bout dem Frogs!!!!

No...

He is on pace for over 80 catches and 700+ yards. The only place that he’s not close to his averages are in TDs. You might say he looks slow or whatever, but the numbers are fine outside of the TDs.

College classes?

I’m sitting here re-working Marty B’s math…Hmmm…

Maybe he's giving himself the remainder of 5 plays off

Or maybe he went to Texas A&M

You can't stop Patrick Crayton, you can only hope to contain him.
