06:38 – Mike Pereira analyzes the play in Dallas where an instant replay negated a penalty on the Redskins just before halftime.

Damn good thing they missed that FG!

Pereira:

We really reviewed and reversed a play that wasn’t even reviewable… we should have stayed with the ball at the 26… should have stayed with the delay of game which would have moved it to the 31…

(What he doesn’t address is the other aspect Wade was complaining about, that the thrown away ball didn’t pass the line of scrimmage and should have been intentional grounding.)

Wow! Just wow.

I just now watched this, and I’m really shocked that a bigger deal wasn’t made of this. I guess if they had made it, it would have been.

So it turns out that they got it wrong, screwed us out of 10 yards, and actually 15, because the Redskins were about to get another delay of game before they stopped the review. That’s 2 weeks in a row that we were screwed out of 15 yards due to botched handling of replays by the officials. I wonder if this is an area that will be on Stephen Jones’ agenda when he joins the Competition Committee next year.

FILE - In this Sept. 4, 2009 file photo, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Shaun Hill aims a pass downfield against the San Diego Chargers during the first quarter of an NFL preseason football game in San Diego. Hill earned the starting job for the 2009 season by beating out Alex Smith, who missed last season after re-injuring his surgically repaired throwing shoulder. Head coach Mike Singletary largely chose Hill based on his play down the stretch last year: he went 5-3 over the final eight games and he also owns a 5-0 record at home in Candlestick Park.
