I stand by my statement 2 drafts ago...
I said it then...and I will say it again...Ray Rice would have been the better choice for us as our backup running back for Barbarian at that time...instead of...dare I say it again...Felix the Cat!!
I know Ray. I said at the time he would be a VERY productive NFL back...I was told he was too small...anyone seen his numbers this year compared to Felix? To be fair, I will not compare last year as Felix was hurt all year.

Great, You are a genius.
Is that what you wanted to hear? Because otherwise this didn’t really need to be a fanpost.
The Knights season may have just ended, but the Cowboys year is just begining!
you're brilliant..
dumb post.
Texas Stadium has a hole in the roof so God can watch his favorite team play football.
I stand by my statement
You’re an idiot.
Why would you post such an inane argument, much less try to pat yourself on the back.
What would Rice have behind MBIII. Much fewer yards based on YPC.
Stupid, stupid post.
He who knows nothing is closer to the truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors. - Thomas Jefferson
Look
Rice looks awesome. Chris Johnson looks ridiculous. Matt Forte was perhaps the highest regarded of that whole group coming into the year, Rashard Mendenhall is coming into his own, Steve Slaton is productive, Jonathan Stewart is effective.
That class of runner was borderline unbelievable. It’s very easy to state that we made the wrong pick, but the fact is that Felix is averaging 7.5 yards a carry during his first two years in the league. It’s easy to say we should have gone in a different direction, but the RB tandem we have right now is working fantastically, and I don’t think any other back would be as good in a part-time change of pace role as Felix has been. Declaring the pick a mistake when Felix has been so effective is ludicrous, even if Rice, Mendenhall, or my barely mobile grandmother may have been a better choice (based on another perspective)..
That's absurd
You’re comparing to very different players on two very different teams. No validity to your argument whatsoever.
Epic Fail since 1985
Stand by it.
And then come talk to me in another year or two. If Felix can stay healthy I would take him over just about any RB in the league. Chris Johnson included. This guy is special, we just haven’t seen the full picture yet.
Jimmy Johnson for GM.
Chris Johnson
vs. felix…… CJ > Felix. much much >’er.
Texas Stadium has a hole in the roof so God can watch his favorite team play football.
I stand by it.
Maybe I have high hopes, but I think Felix has the potential be the better back. I’m probably wrong and just being a homer, but when Felix is 100% there aren’t a lot of guys that impress me more than him.
Jimmy Johnson for GM.
Sadly yes...
CJ > Felix… but healthy Felix is no slouch, either one is a win just CJ = more wins

I think Felix is better because he's a better inside runner
and CJ isn’t that much faster than Felix. I think if Felix was healthy and featured like CJ is with the Titans, he could put up similar numbers.
In Romo we Trust
Um..
Do you even watch Titans games at all? Johnson has had many runs on the inside, and at the very least, will break them to the outside because he has the ability to and is talented enough to. I am a huge Felix fan, but CJ is arguably the best back in football, and Felix doesn’t even come close.
ok, but the issue is that Felix has trouble staying healthy

As of now
you can’t compare the two Johnson may be the best RB in the league… Felix doesn’t even start. maybe in a few years they will be comparible as of now they are most def. not.

I totally missed the boat on Chris Johnson
I never thought he’d be anything other than a one dimensional RB with good speed, and said so many times in the pre draft discussions that year. My apologies to those who were touting him.
You can't stop Patrick Crayton, you can only hope to contain him.
I don't know dude
I still love Felix. I don’t think it is fair at this point to really say for sure which one is better considering that Felix has been injured a lot. I suppose you could point to that and say that Rice would have been the better pick, but when both are healthy I think Felix is still better. Of course, both are very good so it isn’t an argument that is really worth having.
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
Eh
We could play this game all day. I stand by my statement that we should have taken Randy Moss over Greg Ellis in 1998.
interesting post.
I think they are both good backs, but Chris Johnson is the best back in the class. He might be the best back in the NFL, 6 straight games of 125 yards.
Felix is going to be great if he can stay healthy. I am happy with Felix, but I wouldn’t be mad if we had Ray, either.
I would rather compare Julius Jones and Sthepen Jackson.

Chris Johnson
that is all. To be fair though, Felix is only like 22 years old. He has very little tread on his tires and he is going to be a valuable weapon for a long time.
Agree, but Chris Johnson was considered a bit of a reach where he was taken
so I’m still pretty pleased with what we got. A home run hitter to off set the Barbarian.
That RB draft class could go down as one of the best
And, don’t be surprised a year or two from now if Forsett breaks out. And if the Raiders ever stop sucking McFadden could be a beast. There is still a lot of untapped potential from that rb class surprisingly.
wow@the venom
it’s this man’s opinion… he’s not attacking you personally so back up off him. Y’all act like you gave birth to Felix.
Now, for the record. I would take Felix over Ray Rice. However, anyone who would rather have Felix than Chris Johnson is not thinking clearly. Remember, Chris Johnson started as Lendale White’s change of pace. Not that Lendale compares to MBIII, but you get the point. The injuries alone make Johnson the better choice.
I love his ability, but in two season’s he’s been competently healthy for a total of maybe 6 games. notice i said competently, not completely.
Coach Winters: Mississippi State's offensive set. 2nd & 2 on our own 24, what defensive set might we call?
Alvin Mack: Eagle Zipper Hero, unless the setback shifts into the I.
Coach Winters: Good..[clicks to next slide], third and seven?
Alvin Mack: Oakie Thunder Lion. {What's your assignment?}
Alvin Mack: Kill the quarterback. {{Coach Winters clicks to next slide}}
Alvin Mack: Hit the tight end so hard his girlfriend dies. {{Coach Winters clicks to next slide}}
Alvin Mack: Kill everybody.
and to top that off... Chris Johnson is the best runner in the league
You take him, hands down, over every other runner right now. If for some reason you have evidence he won’t last, then we can discuss. But until then, you are making a bad argument for choosing ANY runner ahead of him. Including AD.

so you'd take the guy that has less YPC

Running backs do more than just run and catch the ball.
They also block, and Adrian Peterson wipes the floor with Chris Johnson. Yeah, I’ll take the guy who has more touchdowns, who had 1300 and 1700 yards his first two seasons, and is on pace to have another outstanding year this year, and is the superior blocker. Hands down I’d take Peterson.
Jimmy Johnson for GM.
Also
Chris Johnson is really fast and can cut but that doesn’t mean he is better than Adrian Peterson. Besides, you can say the same about Peterson. What 225 lb RB do you know that can run a 4.3 and cut like Barry Sanders and run you over like Eric Campbell? Peterson uses his speed when he has to but he can straight run you over. Run over, truck, lay the wood, etc…I’ve never seen Johnson do any of that to a defensive player. To sum it up, Chris Johnson will probably have better stats this year, but Peterson is the overall better player.
Jimmy Johnson for GM.
AP Is A False Choice
Dallas did not have a choice to select AP; Dallas deliberately chose to not take Chris Johnson
But
Why does Peterson having the better size mean he is the better back? Prototypical size does NOT mean that they are the better player. Let us look at the pure statistical argument of their first two seasons:
Chris Johnson: 468 attempts, 2,624 yards, 5.6 YPC, 18 TD’s, 554 receiving yards, 2 receiving TDs, 2 fumbles/2 lost
Adrian Peterson: 501 attempts, 3,101 yards, 5.2 YPC, 22 TD’s, 393 receiving yards, 1 receiving TDs, 13 fumbles/7 lost
And keep in mind that CJ still is in the middle of his season, so it is very likely that he will finish this with closer to 2,900 yards rushing and just as many, if not more, TDs. And if you look at the last stat, there is a GLARING difference.
Look, the two very well could be the best two backs in the league, and you really can’t go wrong with either, but objectively CJ is the better running back. And why in the hell would CJ attempt to truck through someone when he can cut and run around them? Let’s also look at the fact that Peterson has had numerous games where he was completely shut down, and that he plays on an offensive team that has less weapons than CJ.
this is dumb
rice is a mix of barber and choice, if we drafted him we wouldn’t have our speed/breakout guy. Rice gets 25-30 carries/game felix gets 10 on a good day and gets 90 yards i would much rather have felix jones.
I really liked Ray Rice a lot in that draft too
But I don’t regret having both Felix and Choice on the team.
You can't stop Patrick Crayton, you can only hope to contain him.
Rice and CJ are both good backs..
But Felix has the ability to be a truly unique player. His speed and quickness are really very impressive. Not to say CJ and Rice aren’t..but I wouldn’t trade for either of them.
Cj looks to be a very similar player but again this is a relatively small sample size and Felix just hasn’t had the health or opportunities to show his true worth.
Rice also looks like a productive back but his quickness isn’t in the same realm as Felix when healthy. He’s more of a TC kind of back but still very good.
All of these comparisons are long term and assuming felix’s health though. But, he was never injury prone in college and I think it is still too soon to say he is after only 2 seasons.
No
CJ is just as fast and quick as Felix, less injury prone thus far, has proven he can be an every down back, which Felix hasn’t proven, and CJ is putting up all time great numbers, and potentially could break 2k yards this year with a YPC over 6. If that isn’t a unique player, then what is?
