New Blog: World Soccer Digest for Soccer Fans!

No, your eyes are not deceiving you, SB Nation did a visual refresh on the blogs. I know from past experience that changes to the blog are met with cheers and jeers. That's to be expected. I would just say if you don't like it, give a week to grow on you before forming a solid opinion. Yeah, there's a lot of white space, that's the first thing everybody notices. We'll see what happens, the SB Nation tech team is collecting reactions and bugs and will be working on cleaning up any errors and changing things that don't work.

I don't mind the change

But that’s because not much was changed. More the font than anything else.

2009 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2009 New York Jets: 11-5?
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25

It loads much faster, too.

Thank. God.

I know that I’m spoiled thanks to my connection, but it drove me crazy. I can’t imagine what someone on a slower connection must have gone through.

This is by far my favorite site and I come back to it dozens of times a day, so any speed boost is awesome to me.

That was driving me crazy

It took forever to load before (I’m spoiled, OK?) but whatever the IT dept. did has fixed it. Thank you.

Cheers and jeers

Cheers: a lot cleaner and brighter looking, font is fine. Can’t say it’s faster but I’ve seen that comment a couple of times today.
Jeers: line spacing has changed and paragraphs don’t show up in the comments any more, making anything that’s longer than a one-liner much harder to read.

Test.

Do you mean there are no spaces between paragraphs

after hitting the return button

like I just did?

There is something very mysterious going on...

Because now it seems to be working again.

I hit the return button between Jeers and Cheers, and while it showed up in my draft, nothing showed in the post. On some of my previous comments I had to manually insert a html < p > to get it working.

Well, now it’s fine, so stop staring at the egg running down my face.

It's great except

the font is so “Baby Boomer Big” the landscapers outside my work read the blog through the window when they cut the grass. What a clever way to increase readership…

mostly like it

loads faster +1
I’d perfer that all headlines were justified though

Yeah, that's my one of my few complaints, as well.

Kinda don’t like the font and the size and stuff.

Looks like modern-era cheapness. I’m sure it’ll be fixed, though.

by Rickyy. on Nov 3, 2009 5:43 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

It lookes sleeker, more modern-ish

My only nitpick is the font/size of the main post headlines, but I’ll get used to that.

Cleaner looking, noticed it right away

Haven’t noticed the paragraph problem mentioned above, but that would be big.

Headlines

I don’t like the new font face for the headlines. Not sure even exactly how it is different now, but I liked it better before. The headlines actually seem more cluttered now and just seem to get lost and not stand out as well. I waited a day to see if it grew on me but it hasn’t yet lol
