I can't help but root for Brees...

kid’s a Texan, right out of Austin. Undersized and overlooked his whole career, and now he may be the best. Now Reggie Bush and Jeremy Shockey…..those two can go step in front of a bus.

Lets go Saints

The Knights season may have just ended, but the Cowboys year is just begining!

by aussie_cowboy on Nov 30, 2009 7:39 PM CST reply actions

F*** the aints

I like Brees and allN and wish would have pounced on him when NO did, but I am sick of all these ppl at my work talking weird and talking crap about their aints being the greatest thing since sliced bread. Eff the aints, I have ONE team and that is the cowboys, and it is better for them that the aints lose so I go for belicheat and his unlikeable team.

Just need Brady to stay under 22 FF points

anyone have a link?

It's not that I'm saying we're due a playoff win, but I didn't have my license to drive when we won our last one...

how does someone get that wide open?

By being guarded by #31 that’s how.

Did you see the look of confusion on his face?

by elharpo on Nov 30, 2009 8:38 PM CST reply actions

Is it me or...

is the Saint’s defense actually their offense? When they score so easily and often I think opposing offenses press a little too much to keep pace. Sorta like NE did to everyone in the 07 season. Their defense shouldn’t scare anyone especially their linebackers & secondary. McKenzie is the best guy in the back 7. As I stated in a post last week, I believe we will move the ball on these guys and score, a lot.

by Keys80 on Nov 30, 2009 8:51 PM CST reply actions

brees = manning

These two freaks are crazy good. The game to them is sooo slooooow. They both help draw up the offense… and I mean all of it… Xs and Os, personnel packages… everything.
It’s unfair.
MVP – Brees? Manning? Favre? Chris Johnson?

by Joey2zs on Nov 30, 2009 8:55 PM CST reply actions

not to irritate the

in-house Romo-maniac, but how good would Miles Austin be on the Saints? You have to believe he’s faster than Meachem, Colston and Henderson.

by Joey2zs on Nov 30, 2009 9:01 PM CST up reply actions

Not henderson or Meachem

Austin is fast but not super fast.

Austin is good because he is not just tall (about 6’2.5) and fast but because he is also quick for his size and is very strong.

by quincyyyyy on Nov 30, 2009 9:07 PM CST up reply actions

Brady looks rattled

the offensive line is lunging, grabbing, and falling everywhere just to hold back 3 and 4 man rushes… i wouldn’t be surprised to see Brady get hurt.

protecting romo will be important

right now they are feasting on pressuring brady and forcing him to throw it before wr’s are open. a few near int’s on that last drive

Why exactly?

We will run on this team early and often. That will keep the beasts at bay and keep the ball in TRs hands not DB. Again, their offense is their defense.

He blew out his knee at the end of the year and they released him because of his salary and the fact he wouldn’t be ready until this late in the season.

by squidlo97 on Nov 30, 2009 10:40 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

for those who knock Jason Garrett for being a big play guy

the Saints have run just 36 plays and there are only 10 minutes left in the game.
They have almost 450 yards of total offense.

That’s over 12 yards a snap, with LOTS of big plays thrown in.

The scoreboard could melt if the Dallas o-line holds up in N.O.

by Rafael Vela on Nov 30, 2009 10:09 PM CST reply actions

Prior to this game they had 18 rushing TDs and 22 passing.

56% of their scores came throwing. They also run a balanced offense even when they average 20 a pop throwing.

KICK ASS every day!!!

by squidlo97 on Nov 30, 2009 11:29 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Um big plays are nice, and that is not our argument

We are saying you need to run the ball more than 11 times a game (or use Felix more than 0 times a game), and for all their big plays they have ran the ball 21 times so far.

Plus few teams can do what the Saints can do.

by quincyyyyy on Nov 30, 2009 10:13 PM CST up reply actions

I have no problem with the game plan in Oakland

I have a problem when Garrett gets away from the run and gets too pass happy. Big plays are great, but you still have to run the ball.

by quincyyyyy on Nov 30, 2009 10:18 PM CST up reply actions

If the other team is stopping the run

you have no choice but to pass the ball.

by squidlo97 on Nov 30, 2009 11:39 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Stupid penalties and lack of focus stop us.

WTF is Garret going to call on 3rd and 15? A draw to Felix? Hell no, he is going to pass. The only team that can stop the Dallas Cowboys is the Dallas Cowboys. Jason Garret can only tell the players what to do. If they can’t get it through their thick skulls and perform then no offensive coordinator in the league can make them.

"Help, it's hot and dark in here and someone is laughing." Taco Bell

by GunsUp on Dec 1, 2009 11:46 AM CST up reply actions

It is true that we don't run the ball 10 times a game every week

but I’m not just talking on the level of whole games. I’m talking about individual plays, where Garrett will throw the ball when you should obviously run it. There is value in catching the other team by surprise, but if you look at percentages running it on the goal line yields better success than throwing it.

Moreover we are 18th in the league in attempts. How does that make since when we have one of the best runningback tandems in the league. Not to mention their was that long stretch of games where are receivers weren’t doing squat.

by quincyyyyy on Nov 30, 2009 10:26 PM CST up reply actions

I disagree

Running the ball inside the 10 requires a certain mentality by the OL which I’m not sure we have, especially without Colombo.

Just out of curiosity, which situations are your referring as obvious running downs?

In Romo we Trust

by Terry on Dec 1, 2009 8:17 AM CST up reply actions

no, you need the power to outscore them

Carolina ran like made on them and lost because they could not sustain scoring.
Dallas can run but nobody can play keep away from them for 60 minutes.

by Rafael Vela on Nov 30, 2009 10:24 PM CST up reply actions

You make it seem like you are less likely to score if you run the ball

Each team still has the same number of drives as the other team in a game if I am not mistaken. But one has to be efficient.

The only time that you should abandon the run for the pass is when they get far ahead. As long as you are scoring every time you have the ball – whether you take 2 minutes or 7 minutes to score – it shouldn’t matter.

by quincyyyyy on Nov 30, 2009 10:31 PM CST up reply actions

No, this team has been a down the field offense the last three years

I have no problems with it. This isn’t the ‘90s Cowboys. They don’t power run like those guys, and they commit too many penalties.

This same bunch went powerball on the Giants in the ’07 playoffs. How did that turn out?

This o-line isn’t a powerball bunch. Yeah, it’s good to run, but they are going to attack throwing the ball — and they should.

by Rafael Vela on Nov 30, 2009 10:34 PM CST up reply actions

We have shown the ability to be a great run team, and to be blunt we have to if we are going to win

Saints have Shockey, Henderson, Meachem, and Colston. We have Austin and Witten. That is it. They win if it comes down to who is going to put up more yards through the air.

by quincyyyyy on Nov 30, 2009 10:38 PM CST up reply actions

absolutely not true at all

We have never shown the ability to be a great run team and I if Romo gets the time Brees gets, he can slice up their secondary much worse than Brees will slice up ours.

In Romo we Trust

by Terry on Dec 1, 2009 8:21 AM CST up reply actions

We haven't?

At the beginning of the year we were averaging close to 200 yards per game rushing. Right Terry…

by quincyyyyy on Dec 1, 2009 8:48 AM CST up reply actions

that doesn't mean we can run whenever we want

those runs were the result of catching the opposing defense off guard with brilliant play calling by Garrett. ;)

In Romo we Trust

by Terry on Dec 1, 2009 9:05 AM CST up reply actions

Catching them off guard? Seriously?

You can’t run 200 yards in a game without the opposing defense starting to take notice of your run game much earlier on.

by quincyyyyy on Dec 1, 2009 9:22 AM CST up reply actions

if they play their safeties

25 yards back and concentrate on stopping the pass, you can.

In Romo we Trust

by Terry on Dec 1, 2009 2:11 PM CST up reply actions

Your right but at one point late in the game they ran 21 times and threw 22.

They don’t abandon the run EVEN when they throw that well.

RAF, they throw this great yet they don't stop running the ball.

These guys wont play like this against us

because our defense is much better than the Pats D.

The Knights season may have just ended, but the Cowboys year is just begining!

by aussie_cowboy on Nov 30, 2009 10:24 PM CST up reply actions

Unh.... Depends on what you mean by better?

Better run D? Yeah. Their passing D is statistically better than ours…. Add to that fact our issues with turnovers (In that we don’t really get them) and it’s kind of a wash.

And the Saints haven’t really been running the ball a ton this game. All the monster plays are via the pass.

by tkosmith on Nov 30, 2009 10:30 PM CST up reply actions

Nope

by aussie_cowboy on Nov 30, 2009 10:33 PM CST up reply actions

Again, I know and agree. But scoring D can change pretty darn quick if the points catch up to the stats…. And if this team doesn’t start getting some more turnovers, I think the scoring will start to go up.

by tkosmith on Nov 30, 2009 10:35 PM CST up reply actions

Actually, they were ahead of us going into tonight.

Obviously they won’t be now, after running into that buzz saw. But going into this game, their scoring defense was at 16.4/game compared to our 16.5/game. And the Saints ate them up.

I’ll admit it, the Saints are scary.

by Baked Potato Soup on Nov 30, 2009 11:41 PM CST up reply actions

Atlanta had the momentum on NO in the late third to early fourth quarter of their game

One of NO’’s TD’s in that game came off a Pick 6 when the linebacker had clearly interfered with the Atlanta receiver.

Dallas had effectively controlled Atlanta through four quarters the week before.

I’m feeling really good about our chances, even after watching this game. The key will be preassuring Brees up the middle. I think our corners can keep everything in front of them long enough for Ware, Ratliff, and Spencer to get in Brees face.

by LDVFootball on Nov 30, 2009 10:25 PM CST up reply actions

I think there's a chance...

But not if the Saints are anywhere near to this level. We would have to completely bottle up Brees, and I don’t really know that we can do that.

well

doesnt it seem likely we are going to get 2 shots at N.O. in N.O.? They are going to have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. so the likelihood is, if we make it as far as we all hope we do, we’ll be traveling down to N.O. sometime late in the playoffs.

personally, i think it makes more sense to get slobberknocked in 2 weeks, fall off their radar, and surprise them in late january.

to me, if we upset them at home in 2 weeks, it’ll be almost inconceivable that we would have a chance to beat them again, at their place, in late january. inconceivable. can anyone here really imagine themselves sitting on their barcalounger in february saying, yeah, that’s right, we beat N.O. twice in N.O. in the span of 6 weeks?

Run the ball, score on long drives

and limit the big play.

that is how someone will beat the saints in the playoffs.

just like atlanta did to the 14-2 vikings in an NFC CS game.

teams are going to have to keep the saints offense on the sideline, and it looks like they can be run on.

I wanted to post this before the game but couldn't get recepption

I was wondering if we should use RW like they use Colston. Half of his game is on or outside the numbers. Drew seems to throw him high back shoulder throws. He doesn’t get drilled because the corner isn’t in a hitting postion and it’s really a safe throw that with Colstons size he can easily go over anyone else to catch the pass. RW can thrive with his ability to go up high and again with the backshoulder pass he is more times than not protected from the big hit.

KICK ASS every day!!!

Use a similar defensive game plan to the one we used against the Eagles, run the ball early, and limit the turnovers

That is how you beat the Saints

If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.

Yep Cowboyfan

We have the beef up front that is a excellent game plan, You reading this JG?

more likely scenario

in all likelihood, we are going to get absolutely throttled in N.O. in 2 weeks, and what’ll happen is, we’ll start with a heavy dose of runs, find ourselves behind 37-0 after the first quarter, start to play catch up through the air, nearly come all the way back, still lose, and too many on here will say that by starting out running we never gave ourselves a chance in what was obviously going to be a track meet.

do i hope the above happens? of course not. It merely seems likely.

also we might

Want to rattle brees and plant him on his a** quite a bit, every qb looks average when they get sacked a few times and consistently don’t have time.

I was thinking that while watching the game..

How would this guy (Brees) do if he had the slobber knocked out of him a few times? Not quite as well I bet.

kinda like the hype

of the Pats being 7-3 and the Saints being 10-0

The Saints played as though there wasn’t even another team on the field. I understand believing in your team and always believing you CAN win every game…but I don’t know how you watch this game and feel very confident.

"What did it feel like? That collision, I didn't feel nothing, because he was pretty much defenseless. It was like running through a cardboard box. Seriously. Cardboard box."- Sheldon Brown on his pounding of Reggie Bush in the '06 Playoffs

I'm not confident at all...

I have seen nothing from the Cowboys this entire season that tells me they’re going to be beat the Saints in New Orleans. The Saints will line up in a plethora of formations and run an overabundance plays while the Cowboys will line up in the shotgun 80% of the time. I kid Jason Garrett, I kid…

But in all seriousness I would be very surprised if the Cowboys pull off that upset in a few weeks (unless the Saints suffer an unfortunate injury or two). In the mean time I’m more worried about this weeks’ game with Giants. Nothing irks me more than getting swept in the division; especially the Giants whom I hate more than anyone. If the Cowboys lose to them this Sunday I’ll be wearing my "who farted" face all next week.

The 2009 Dallas Cowboys: Talk to me in December.
The NFC East has won 11 Super Bowls; oddly none of those have come courtesy of the Eagles.

If we take of business the next few weeks, beating the Saints won't be necessary

and it will be fun and interesting to see how we match up against them.

You have to play one game at a time.

Take care of the team in front of you and worry about the Saints in 3 weeks. A lot of things can happen in 3 weeks worry about that bridge when we get there.

Lets see

Both our starting cb’s are out this week. One of our best recievers is out.Reggie Bush is hurt.Your coach doesnt even come close to the talent of Sean Payton. Our offensive line is the best in the nfl.And we put 48 points on the Giants and the Eagles
And we’re playing in New Orleans keep trying to talk yourself into thinking your better then us.We’ll see you in a few weeks
