Poll: Does Austin have what it takes?

Austin is about to go up against one of the best secondaries in the NFL.  Their yards per attempt is 4th, and they rank third in ints.  Asante Samuel and Sheldon Brown are arguably the most potent CB duo in the league.  If there was ever a test to truly see if Austin is the real deal here it is.

I think he'll do pretty good

I doubt he puts up monster numbers, given the amount of weapons we have on offense, but I think he’ll be up to the task to contribute a great deal in a victory over one of the better secondaries in the NFL.

Epic Fail since 1985

What I'm actually afraid of

is that one or two of his fumbles are going to go the other way. Lost amidst the hoopla of the last three games is the fact that he’s fumbled twice, with both just happening to bounce his way. The scary thing is that neither were really forced by the D, they just kind of slipped out during a routine football play. Watch out when the defenses actually start going for the strip. (Or maybe I’m just splitting hairs because I’ve said for three years that Austin wasn’t ever going to do what he’s doing right now…)

Good Point

I think you are right. He needs to make sure he protects the football because as the weather gets colder and the football gets harder to hold on to, defenses will begin stripping like they have fake double d’s and kids to feed.

I wonder if he is aware that ball security should be his number one priority after the catch and not always making it to the endzone.

His raw talent has definitely shown up but late in the season its the savvy players that help us win those tight games. Like not going out of bounds when we are ahead late and not fumbling the ball when no one touches you!!!!

It will be a Great Night for Austin

The silly Iggles will bring the blitz and Brown/Samuel will be caught looking for a short pass and Austin will run by them while the o-line provides just enough time to get the ball out of Romo’s hands.
