9 Points Shy of Undefeated: A Comparison
I'm not big on "coulda woulda shoulda" but I was looking at something interesting tonight and thought I'd share.
Have a look at all the teams that have one or two losses already:
Denver Broncos: Lost their one game by a total of 23 points.
Minnesota Vikings: Lost their one game by a total of 10 points.
New England Patriots: Lost their two games by a total of 10 points.
Cincinnati Bengals: Lost their two games by a total of 26 points.
Dallas Cowboys: Lost their two games by a total of 9 points, against a NYG team that was hot at the time, and against a Denver team that remains hot.
The only 2-loss team that can top that? Pittsburgh Steelers: Lost their two games by a total of 6 points.
Lots of other dynamics and stats at play, of course, but I thought this was interesting -- we haven't yet been "blown out" (10 or more points), but Denver, Minnesota, and Cincinnati all have been, though they may have one less loss.
Consistency?
We'll see!
Enjoy the win! I know I am!

yea thats interesting
we are a much better team than those first two weeks. The Bucs game we played rather poorly i thought. The Giants game Romo self destructed.
Aside from that, we’ve been very solid – we were right there in the Broncos game but couldn’t make enough plays on both sides of the ball to rally. But give the Broncos credit – like the Eagles, they’re a good team that can frustrate offenses.
Good point.
One of the reasons I was advising people not to slit their wrists four games into the season was that Dallas had lost to two (then) undefeated teams, literally on the last second both times, and that both games could have gone the other way easily, if not for several key plays that went against them.
Lack of talent is hard to come back from, but that’s not something Dallas needed to worry about. Bad luck eventually evens out, and mental errors should be correctable, and that was what cost them both games.
I think if you put two of my best seasons together it wouldn't come up with the numbers he's going to have at the end of the season. -Troy Aikman on Tony Romo
As I said many times
The only team that can beat the Cowboys are the Cowboys. Since the Denver game we haven’t been beating ourselves, that’s the key.
When we play our game, we can beat anyone, including the Saints, Vikings Colts and Steelers
In Romo we Trust
and both of those losses were in the final seconds
a stronger defensive stand against the giants + better goal line execution against the broncos, and we can be 8-0 right now
not that i’m complaining :)
Just thinking that as well
Thanks for pointing it out though. Both those games were winnable and were late breakdowns. The way the defense is playing now, I can’t imagine it would happen again. Was Jenkins the true starter for either of those games? He has made a tremendous difference in the secondary, particularly with attitude, that seemingly has everyone playing with more confidence.
I agree with Terry that the way the Boys are playing, there is no reason to think they can’t hang with or beat any other team in the NFL.
