Well guys I'm going to spend the next few hours flipping thru the 1pm games...
Then settle down and watch the Cowboys with my Cowboy fan wife..We decided to roast a Chicken for dinner…Nothing better than ‘Roasted Birds’ prior to an Eagles game. Good luck today..you have home-field advantage and the weather is perfect for football, just make sure there is no chance of thunderstorms by keeping the ‘bolts’ in check..
And good luck to you sir

Definitely Rooting for the Giants
I hate the Eagles and have never hated the Giants. Good luck against them.
Stop
Abusing your wife and root for the Cowboys! Just kidding. I just tried to imagine my husband being a Giants fan, and I think we’d be so incompatible it’s not even funny. Heck, I’d be crazy if he went Democrat. But I’m ok that we’re of different faith backgrounds.
Hmm, maybe I should re-prioritize

why do you argue stupid stuff?
they had one full possession and 1 play of another possession before the quarter ended. that possession is still going on through the 2nd quarter. they haven’t gone 3 and out yet…and they just scored
and you were wrong
saying the saints had two possessions in the 1st quarter when they had 1 full possession and 1 play of another possesion is wrong.
well
i was right on my last post when i said the saints only had 1 possesion in the 1st quarter. so, 1 for 1 there. whereas you were wrong about that. you also thought it was interesting that hte saints only scored a fg in the 1st – even though they have yet to punt in the game. so, wrong again
Especially Since
The Saints scored a TD on their second possession. It’s true to say the Saints were held to a FG in the first quarter, but highly misleading to claim they had two possessions.
see
same old unstoppable saints Offense.
their defense is the only thing that maybe looks suspect right now giving up two long drives. but i doubt we can win a shootout against the saints.
guess we’ll see how good our shootout skills are today
you have to score TDs against the Saints
If the Falcons did that, they’d be winning right now
In Romo we Trust
right
if the falcons scored a touchdown on every possession against the saints they would win the game. I bet if we score a touchdown on every possession against the saints, we’d probably win too.
the more I watch the Saints/Falcons game
the more confident I am we can beat the Saints.
In Romo we Trust
yeah
i saw that 3 and out the falcons put up and i thought, “we’re going to win!” too. hard to see how that can’t be true.
Oh, 23 yard punt return by the Saints. Now they’re really toast!
the saints defense isn't good
but our offense is not as good as theirs. there is no way we can go point for point with the saints offense, which looks pretty unbeatable.
but we have a good defense
and if you get pressure on Brees, they’re not unstoppable
In Romo we Trust

so
is that true? I understand why you’d think you want the giants to lose because of the tie break but I’m much more scared of philly than the giants. if philly is the one challenging us for a playoff spot and we have to win the division to get in, I don’t want to play them on the last day of the season. much rather go into that game with philly playing for nothing
I want it to matter when we play Philly
Revenge for last year. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from that one. Plus, kicking their rear on the last game would be great momentum going into the playoff.
by Road Warrior on Dec 13, 2009 1:16 PM CST up reply actions
we don't really have the best luck against andy reid when it matters
if the point of the exercise is to try to figure out the easiest way for dallas to enter the playoffs, not sure if that means wanting philly to win.
In recent years, we haven't had good luck against anyone in December...
besides, if we win ‘em all, we’re in. Don’t need anyone’s help.

This is the way I see it
There are 2 stops for the wild card. If the Cowboys had won last week we wouldn’t even be having this conversation, because I would have a lot more faith in the Boys winning the division. As it stands now, we’ve managed to breathe new life into the Giants and put them back into what appears to be a tight 3 (actually 4) way competition for those two spots. Just sayin…

It's Because Fox Is Carrying the Game
And there are secondary regional market associations with teams. In San Antonio, Dallas is the primary team, and New Orleans (another NFC team) is the secondary market. Since Houston is in the AFC, Fox has no association with them. Ergo, you get the Saints. It’s been that way for at least 15-20 years.
Weird.
I’ve seen every HOU game this season up until this week. Glad I’m not a Texans fan.

by Aaron Novinger on Dec 13, 2009 1:29 PM CST up reply actions
It's Because of the Networks
CBS carries the Texans, except when an NFC team is the visitor. Then Fox carries them. That scheme has been in place since I first started watching the NFL in the early 1970’s. There’s an unwritten policy about primary and secondary markets. In San Antonio, Fox carries the Cowboys. If they’re not playing, then Fox will choose the secondary market team. That’s the Saints, not the Texans.
It leads to oddities like this, and frankly I’ve never been crazy about it.

CBS Has a Doubleheader This Week
They could have shown both Dallas and Houston, but because of the secondary market arrangements that Fox has, they broadcast the Saints instead. Long story. Read above.

How much does Peyton Manning love playing the broncos in indy?
Heck, I’m not sure anyone on that team now was even on it in 04.
Bears down 6. Bengals down 3.Falcons with chris redman down 7. I don’t care about the Saints that much, but it would be helpful if those other results changed.
I’m rooting for cincy cause if we were to get the 6 seed I would much rather play minny than arizona.
If Packers win this, they likely go 10-6 at worst, which is a big problem.

Saints defense just simply isn't that good
If a defense can contain their offense, they can easily be beat
In Romo we Trust
if the offense can be contained
the Saints will lose at some point and it will be a team with a good defense who will get to Brees
In Romo we Trust
not arguing that - just arguing the "easily" part.....sure if you can stop the Saints O. then
you could easily beat them….that’s like saying if i had Larry Allen’s body (in his prime) i could easily bench press 500+ pounds…..problem is i don’t have Larry Allen’s body, and stopping the Saints O. is likewise a pretty tall order….but on any given day, i agree our D. is good enough to stop ’em if everything falls into place
by Loozeeana_Cowboy on Dec 13, 2009 2:01 PM CST up reply actions
I don't if they can be contained,
but if Dallas can slow them down then we can win
How bout dem Frogs!!!!
any offense can be contained
Saints offense isn’t as good as the 07 pats and those guys we’re held to 17 points in SB XLII
In Romo we Trust
24 points is probably a solid OU line
for what the saints will score (but I am a cowboys homer).
but i still don’t see how we’re going to do that. and while getting pressure on brees is a nice thought and all, we’re not great at that.
if we pressure Brees we can hold then to 24
We have a much better defense than Atlanta and they held the Saints to 23 with 10 min to play, it’s doable for sure
In Romo we Trust
they got 1 stop
and 1fg and the rest was all long TD drives. if that’s what happens to the cowboys, they will need to score like the Saints every time – meaning they will have to have the best offensive game of the season against them.
the d will have to be much better than what the falcons have done. they’re going to at least have to stop the saints on half their possessions
not true
Falcons just got a stop and made Saints kick a FG. Saints have a really good offense, but they can be contained.
Falcons have an average defense and they only have put up 26
And there is no question in my mind our offense can put up a lot of points on them
In Romo we Trust
you realize how this isn't a real prediction
yes, if you stop the saints offense, you can score 7 against the D and win 7-0. Stopping the Saints O is the game. You are focusing on their weakness as if that is the key to beating the saints. Find me a way to stop the Saints O.
pressure Brees, not rocket science
Brees is just like any other qb whoever played, you pressure him and he won’t be as good.
In Romo we Trust
What are the odd?
All these same name players, it’s getting weird, let’s see Roy Williams, Adrien Peterson, now Mike Jenkins. Are there others?

His wife just bagged him cuz it’s been freezing rain here all day. Asked if I wanted to go. Don’t think so.
Sounds like it may be Ice Bowl II - The sequel..
I was at the first one…My buddy asked me if I wanted anything from the concession stand..I said yes I’ll have a coffee..Next thing I know about 20 minutes later is my name being called: “Bobby”..I turned and looked around and there he was..He didn’t buy coffee..he bought two beers..and they were literally frozen to his hands!!..I had to pry them off..The Meadowlands was 75 miles South of where we lived..It took us 69 miles to thaw out..I had another friend across the field who caught pnemonia..I can’t even to this day remember who won..I think those memory cells suffered frostbite!

It's not that I'm saying we're due a playoff win, but I didn't have my license to drive when we won our last one...

maybe.
i think it had something to do when they became the NO Cowboys after Payton took the HC.

the saints D
got a pick to end it last week, pick to end it this week. They did give up a late drive to the redskins that should have lead to a loss but still.
and yet the common line on the board is that their D is weak
w/ Romo’s ability to throw up some stinkers, their ballhawking D worries me…
but i’m probably alone on that one.

Don't Know About You Gents
But I want the Saint undefeated when we play them. Losing to Atlanta today won’t help us, because we probably won’t catch NO anyway.
NO is playing for the killshot instead of eating up the clock..
that could come back to haunt them…
It's not that I'm saying we're due a playoff win, but I didn't have my license to drive when we won our last one...
wow
intersting decision there by payton. that may come back to haunt them
Zero faith in the K after missing that extrapoint?
I saw a dog today. Have you seen a dog? You probably have. How was school? Was it fun? Did you get a lot of homework? Huh? Do you have any friends? Do you have a best friend? Does he have a big coat, too?

What the heck is sean payton doing? why
Since Tony is the holder...
The cowboys can do the same thing. :-)
the same thing would mean that they fail as well
no thank you

this is why i hate the saints
they still might win but payton is the worst. he does not deserve an undefeated team. thinks way too highly of himself
Payton should get roasted like belicik did
that was an absolutely terrible stretch of playcalling.
WTF is with the commentary from the refs this year?
Chicago O-lineman just got called for a “major” facemask
lol
Probably a Packers fan.

as long as Redman doesn't give them a gift INT like before
they’ll blow right down the field for at least a FG
In Romo we Trust
Chiefs putting up a good fight with Buffalo
Chiefs moving might score and go ahead

Cowboys really want the Saints to win this game ... knock Atlanta out of the pic for good
also better to watch us end their little streak
Doomsday returns... Wade Phillips style.
The saints might not be so motivated, next week, if they win today.
by Mr._Mulligan on Dec 13, 2009 2:47 PM CST up reply actions
no i don't think so
i think atlanta winning may help us with the tiebraker picture – i’m not sure, but theres a chance that if we tie atlanta and green bay, we come out of that three way.
while if lets say
we just tie gb at 10-6, we miss the playoffs
Colts just returned KO for TD.

These coaches need to start playing Madden
a lot of them are TERRIBLE at managing the clock and their timeouts. Throw challenges in and I can’t believe some of these guys make millions.
4th and 2
and they threw it short of the first down
DOH!

Shame this Andre Johnson game is being wasted
but on the bright side at least Atl might win.

Without a running game
And knowing he has to put up a ton of points because Brees sure as hell will. Like I said, pretty decent for an insurance salesman.
Sean Payton will be quoted after the game,
“Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.”

redman really blew it
he had roddy white wide open and missed him and then threw short at the end.
last 2 games have been squeakers and against mediocre at best teams
gotta feel a little better about our chances next week
here's hoping we beat them next week
and continue a winning streak that we start today

but they tend to come to play against the really good teams.
wait
are we a good team? i guess we’ll see.
but using your logic, if the Saints come out flat against us and we win, it’s because they played poorly against a weak team. but if we get run over by them next week, it’s because we’re a really good team?
…i’m so getting flamed for that.

lol huh?
I’m just saying that in their huge games this year(Eagles, Giants, Falcons with Ryan, Pats), they’ve crushed the competition, while against the lesser teams they’ve seemed to not play as well.
lol
i’m just using backwards logic…
it gets scary after a while. it should stop upon kickoff

I think so too
I think Arizona, GB, us or Philly will give them a ton of trouble in the playoffs and they won’t make the superbowl.
spoke too soon

Saints are certainly beatable
I dont know why so many people say that we cant beat them.
The Knights season may have just ended, but the Cowboys year is just begining!
That's what I came in to say. If the Cowboys fire on all cylinders, could be a very
interesting game next week.
Even if they dont
The Cowboys could still stay with them

That trade really worked out for denver, didn't it?
Josh McDaniels now looks like a genious
That packers win means we have three roads to the playoffs
1. win 3 and get one other east game to go our way
2. win 2, one of those being beatign philly
3. win 2, don’t beat philly, but giants also go 2-2
I’m assuimg 9-7 doesn’t make it, but i guess it could if the giants go 1-3 as well.
