Dallas, San Diego and December.

The perfect opportunity to put a stake in the “December swoons” arrives today in the form of the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers who haven't lost a December game since 2005 and had a different starting QB and Head Coach at the time. The Philip Rivers and Norv Turner combination has never lost a December game; 15 and 0.

Star-divide

The Cowboys December struggles are well documented and don't need to be rehashed here. In the Tony Romo era they are 4 and 9 in December (starting with Parcells 06 campaign of 1-3).

The December champions come into the game red hot. They've won seven straight to hit 9-3. The December stragglers come into their second December game off a lose in their first. So why shouldn't this be an easy win for the Chargers?

Because although the Chargers are good they're not as good as those numbers suggest. The Chargers 7 game win streak includes these 4 games against three of the worst teams in the league; KC, Oakland, KC and Cleveland.

The Chargers December success is also misleading. Out of their 15 December games and wins they have played 2 playoff teams. Two.

Dallas' 15 December games have been against 8 playoff teams including multiple Super Bowl Champs and Conference game attendees.

It couldn't be a deeper contrast. San Diego's December schedule over the last few years has probably been the easiest in the league while Dallas' has probably been the hardest.

So while this game is a huge test for Dallas playing a red hot team who never loses in December it's also a huge test for San Diego because we're the best opponent they've faced in their December streak.

Dallas wins 27 – 20.
