BGN is a very arrogant website

Every time they win, the headline is “Eagles trump” this team or “Eagles bury” this team.

Like they’re this amazing team or something.

2009 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2009 New York Jets: not 11-5 :(
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25

by Grady90 on Dec 15, 2009 7:56 AM CST reply actions

I disagree...

on the every time part. Maybe Jason will use that kind of headline after a blowout but not after every win. Look at the headline after the huge Giants win. “Eagles beat Giants in a shootout” not something like “Eagles let the Giants hang around but came on top fairly easily”.

But most times I check out your site (which is fairly often) it’s some bragadocious headline lol.

Most Dallas fans are band wagoners from the glory days, that’s a proven fact. You’re saying 20 million watching Eagles games are ALL in Philly? Be more realistic man.

You Philly fans are so full of it. The reason Dallas is America’s Team is because they have a ton of fans all over the US. You have been reading Dawks comments to much. Try thinking for yourself for a change. The band wagon crap is lame.

Just because I don’t come here often and comment doesn’t mean I don’t think the same way he does or the rest of BGN or fans of other teams, that believe that most of your fans are band wagoners. Tons of fans all over US is one the major arguments against you guys.

The Cowboys have fans

in DFW, all over Texas and all over America what is bad about that. I think Philly fans have always been jealous of the Cowboys high profile and five SB trophies. Calling Cowboys fans “bandwagon fans” is the only defense y’all can come up with and it’s a weak defense. By the way I was born near Dallas and have live in Texas all my life. Except four years I spent in the Marines.

I’d like to meet you and take your picture… place it in my library. You’d be the first Dallas fan I’d have met from DFW… making you the sole non-bandwagon Cowboy fan I’ve met. Until then I document you though, you are a unicorn.

There are 4 million people in DFW alone

No..

It’s a true statement.. To assume otherwise could be considered stupid, as the country does extend outside of DFW.

I have never met a Dallas Cowboy Fan from DFW area or even the state of Texas, I’ve only heard about them… That is a true statement.

Now I know your numbers should exceed 4 million. When I finally met one, you will be bumped up from Unicorn to Narwal…

Get out of your cave and visit DFW

Yea.. no

If you read my other comment in here, I’ve lived in plenty of cities in a number of states, I’ve even visited countless more… I see lots of daylight. But you’re doing a fine job of convincing me that maybe the problem is more so that Dallas fans from DFW need to escape out of under that rock that Jerry built?

to mention your thinking. I lived in Dallas till this year born and raised in Plano /Frisco area, nice to meet you and I make two. Btw let me get my whole family on here that way you meet about 23 more Cowboy fans residing in Dallas. Dirk did make a sarcastic point to yours about smart Eagles fans , well even though it was dumb, it fits perfect with yours.

Philly Fan here

I’ve lived in plenty of places, I currently live in Florida.. I was born & raised in Philly, always an Eagle, and all other Philly team Fan. In my life I’ve met plenty of other Philadelphia born Eagles fans (excluding Family here) and of course plenty of Cowboy fans. I however have yet to meet, in person, a Dallas fan that was actually born anywhere in the state of Texas.. in my life. And thus (in my experience), EVERY Dallas fan I’ve met IS a band wagoner. I’m told that compared to the typical jerkwad bandwagon Cowgirl fans, the real ones from Dallas area or even the state are actually nice people… but seems like they’re a rare species to find.

Also not all the wagoners are horrible. Due to necessary conditions (school/work) I’ve made friends with a few of Dallas fans. Of course, every friend I have that wears a star jumped on the bandwagon and has yet to fall off. I’ll give it up that they’re good fans of your team and we regularly have fun and banter about the rivalry… but they have no real connection to the team other than the day they decided to hop on the wagon.

Anyway, I agree DIRE, the band wagon crap is lame.. however, Dallas seems to have the largest wagon.

Maybe if you actually were in Texas ever , then maybe you would meet a Cowboy fan born and raised in texas. Just a suggestion man :)

by Fernie67 on Dec 15, 2009 1:16 PM CST reply actions

I have been a Cowboys fan since the 1960s

I am 51 years old and was born and raised in Waco Texas (100 miles south of Dallas) and have NEVER met anyone from here that are fans of any other team other than the Cowboys, we are true blue here and always will be, Tom Landry was and is a legend in this state, something that was captured in the animated tv show King of the Hill, where the Tom Landry Middle school is (fictional of course) but in this state some day there will likely be schools named for him, like Jim Bowie, Stephen F Austin, and Davy Crockett, other legends of Texas.

In my life i have lived in several states and outside the U.S. while in the military, and i saw cowboys fans everywhere i lived including overseas, i have yet in my life to see eagles fans anywhere else, and i guarantee that is you are in another country and you mention nfl football they will say cowboys, most have never heard of the eagles.

I saw a report a few years ago that said the more merchandise was sold with the Cowboys logo than any other NFL team, Eagles were not even on the top 10 list. in reality the Eagles could not at this time even begin to be considered “Americas Team” and likely never will, they are and will always be a regional team, the Cowboys are to Pro Football what the Yankees are to Pro Baseball.

So Eagles fans, you can gripe, and whine and say whatever you want, but your team will NEVER be on the same level as the boys and that is a fact. historically the Cowboys skip a decade for greatness, they started there run in the late 60s and were pretty great until the start of the 80s, then by the early 90s they were great again, they are on the verge of greatness again, and you will see this in the next few years.

by TRFAN on Dec 15, 2009 1:35 PM CST reply actions

Dallas and Giants have 4 but the Cowboys’ shitload of bandwagon fans inflated two of those games vs the Giants

that tells you that it’s biased. If you wanna argue, be unbiased.

by Dub_TC on Dec 15, 2009 2:20 PM CST reply actions

Yes, that was pretty biased. My bad....

But how can you argue it’s not true? The Cowboys bandwagon argument has been done a million times. If the argument came up that many times, chances are it’s gotta be true. Check out this page. http://deadspin.com/5396788/the-bandwagon-is-actually-a-nissan-truck-still-more-updates

That picture was taken by our moderator Jason B and it spread across the web. That site had cowboys/yankees fans defending themselves. Can you honestly tell me after reading those responses they don’t sound like bandwagon fans? A bandwagon fan is someone that becomes a fan of a team when they are winning. period. A bandwagon JUMPER is someone who jumps off when the team is no longer winning. If you became a fan of the Cowboys during the glory days, then YES you are a bandwagon fan for the rest of your life, regardless of how old you were or if your bandwagon DAD made you. Most of your stories are these two.

If you are from Texas or anywhere near Texas, then yes I consider you guys true fans. The reason Dallas has so many fans across the country is ONLY because those people jumped on the bandwagon and never got off. Once a bandwagon fan, ALWAYS a bandwagon fan. If you jump off to another team, then you are a bandwagon JUMPER. Makes sense?
I bet if I made a poll here, and you guys actually voted honestly, at LEAST 65% of you would say you became a fan of the Cowboys as kid when they were winning Super bowls.

As for the Giants, I live in Philly and have family in NY so I go there pretty often. You have no idea how many Giants fans started popping out after the Superbowl win. It was purely a Yankees/Mets town until the win. So I have first hand proof on their bandwagon-ism. Look at their ticket sales after the win.

I just wanted to have a discussion going. That’s all.

Just because you are a fan of both the Yankees and the Cowboys

doesn’t make you bandwagon. I follow both teams, Dallas because they were the first team I saw live and the first city I visited in the US and the Yankees because the first baseball game I went to was in Yankee Stadium. I started following both teams in 2005, at a time when neither had won a championship that decade. So I follow both the Yankees and Cowboys and am not a bandwagon fan, so your argument holds little weight.

The Knights season may have just ended, but the Cowboys year is just begining!

by aussie_cowboy on Dec 16, 2009 6:01 PM CST up reply actions

if

you wanna argue that the Cowboys AREN’T America’s Team …. that’s a valid argument. The Eagles are not even close to being America’s Team …. I’d choose the Colts, Pats, or Steelers before the Eagles.

by Dub_TC on Dec 18, 2009 3:51 PM CST up reply actions

What????
The reason Dallas has so many fans across the country is ONLY because those people jumped on the bandwagon and never got off

.

How do you justify that? If a person becomes a fan and stays through thick and thin, where is the bandwagonism? I live in Northern Delaware and didn’t start watching football until I hit 40. As I watched some games, it became pretty apparent that the Cowboys were the class team of the NFL. So I decided to go with a winner. And have stayed with them. It also was funny to see the local Eagle fandom get their panties in a bunch whenever they saw me wearing my colors. I think I enjoyed that as much as watching my ’Boys rake in the Lombardies.

Am I a fair weather fan?

My dad was born in Fort Worth, I was born in MO. I chose the Cowboys over the Greatest show on turf when the Cowboys were horrible. I don’t recall a single superbowl the boys played in and I have pretty much followed this team with an inordinate amount of passion even though for the past decade the’ve been fairly silent (until Romo the best DC QB I’d seen in person was Bledsoe!). Does that mean I jumped on the bandwagon?
Truth is, your idea of all fans not rooting for the team nearest their hometown makes them fairweather is unsubstantiated and unfair.
And really, there is no way an argument like this could ever be dealt with reason.

by tyhall on Dec 16, 2009 5:57 PM CST via mobile reply actions

Who gives a damn where you live and what team you root for

The Iggles seem to be the only fans who feel that unless you live in, or adjacent to, the city where your favorite team plays, then you are a bandwagon fan.

This is the dumbest basis for an argument I’ve yet to see anywhere on SBNation. Not surprised it’s from Philly fans however.

You can't stop Patrick Crayton, you can only hope to contain him.

by APerfectStar on Dec 16, 2009 10:20 PM CST reply actions

That belief specifically goes to teams that are dominating the sport like the Cowboys were in the 90’s. If you became a Cowboys fan in the 90’s when they were winning super bowls then you are a bandwagon fan. If you became a Yankees fan during the Torre dynasty, then you are a bandwagon fan. That belief is not for all fans, just those specific ones. I don’t know why its so hard for you guys to get it. It’s really simple.

p.s. Patrick Crayton sucks.
