Cowboys kicking around some options? Doesn't sound likely...not yet, anyways.

From Josh Ellis:

If (Nick) Folk is to be replaced, the simplest alternative would be to give rookie kickoff specialist David Buehler a shot at the field goal responsibilities. Buehler, who has 21 touchbacks on the year, said Monday he was talking to special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis and could get a look this week. Buehler was 26-of-33 during his career at Southern California.

Buehler has worked on placekicking far less than Folk since the regular season began. The Cowboys have considered using his powerful leg on kicks outside of Folk's range, but he has yet to have a try. Buehler took a series of practice kicks from 58 yards before Sunday's game.

Coach Phillips on bringing in another kicker:

"I think it'd be very hard," the coach said. "Most of them that are out there have probably done worse, and certainly haven't done as well as (Folk) has in a lot of the situations here."

Need a pistol?

JK, but a handful of anti-depresents would be good about right now.

Well, then they should stick to their words....

Didn’t they say that Beuhler would kick anything outside Folks range? And wouldn’t that be anything outside of an x-tra point?

I remember back in the day

When we had Vanderjagt and Gramatica, and Cundiff, and… Wow our kickers suck. I thought Folk was the cure to all these problems, I really hope he figures it out because he was one of the best in the game, but how long can they afford to wait and how many points can they afford to throw away?

Looks like Watkins is going to IR.....

sucks because he is our best ST’s player….

Yup.

I wonder if they’ll put Mike Hamlin in his spots. Sounds like the easiest choice there.

I saw a dog today. Have you seen a dog? You probably have. How was school? Was it fun? Did you get a lot of homework? Huh? Do you have any friends? Do you have a best friend? Does he have a big coat, too?

remember the days?

when Folk could nail a 53-yarder, get it nullified by a Buffalo time out, and when he lined up to kick it again, you just knew he was going to nail it a second time, and it might as well have been a replay of the first kick?

now when he lined up for even a medium range FG, i expect him to miss it and am surprised when he makes it.

so sad….

it's called confidence or a lack thereof

Kickers are like golfers and kicking is like golf, it’s 90% mental and most of that is confidence in your swing and if you lose that confidence you’re not going to be good.

The key for Folk is getting that confidence back.

Right, I don't think he lost his ability to kick.

It’s got to be mental or an injury. He’s healthy as far as I know, so it must be mental. I sure hope he snaps out of it, because I thought Dallas had a good FG kicker for years to come.

How bout dem Frogs!!!!

if

they give up on him, I think it’s a mistake.

I agree

Terry is right kickers are a different bred. Sure as hell Dallas lets him go, next year he will be kicking at high level again somewhere else. But something has to give the coaches can’t be scared to try FGs. Not a good situation to be in for a run at the playoffs.

If we have to kick many FGs this week

the Boys are in trouble. NO scores an average 36 points per game, Dallas averages 22. NO is +16 in turnovers Dallas is-1. Dallas has to score TDs to have a chance in this game. I’m not big into stats, but those really caught my eye.

I agree

We have to put the ball in the end zone Saturday to beat the Saints. I’d be more concerned with Folk in the Washington game.

how about Shaun Suisham??

Granted he’s missed a couple of kicks too, but he was 18 for 21 before the Redskins cut him.

Darren O’Day." - FirebatM3

you're joking, right??

Folk doesn’t miss 21 yarders like Suisham. Besides, he was already our kicker and we cut him because he sucks.

Folk does...

But I still think we keep him, but put Buehler in for right now if he is up for it. Let Folk rest his mind for the playoffs, hopefully.
