Cowboys @ Saints Injury Update

DeMarcus Ware's status for tomorrow night's game against the Saints is still uncertain. He looks like a game-time decision. Both he and FS Ken Hamlin are listed as questionable.

Jerry Jones on Ware:

"The good news is that, aside from his soreness, he certainly does physically have the ability to play," Jones said. "We'll just determine that as to how he’s feeling at game time."

Wade Phillips had hoped that Ware's status would be determine before the Cowboys left for New Orleans. That didn't happen. Ware is listed as questionable for Saturday night's game against the Saints.

Make the jump for the rest of the injury report.

Star-divide

DC.com on Hamlin:

Hamlin had limited participation all week in his return from a high ankle sprain. Though questionable, head coach Wade Phillips has seemed confident Hamlin would play for the first time since Nov. 15. Alan Ball has been starting in his place.

Strong safety and the Cowboys' leader in special teams tackles, Pat Watkins, is out with his sprained knee. He is not expected to be back during the regular season.

FB Deon Anderson, probable, did not go at today's walkthrough practice due to illness, but he is expected to play.

TE Martellus Bennett (concussion) has returned to practicing a full basis, but is not eligible to play until next week. He will be out against the Saints.

CB Terence Newman (knee) and SS Gerald Sensabaugh (thumb) are also still listed on the injury report, but are fine and will continue to start.

As for the Saints' injuries:

DT Sedrick Ellis (knee) looks like a game-time decision for now; he has missed two days of practice this week.

CB Jabari Greer (groin) will be out.

K Garrett Hartley (hip), OT Jon Stinchcomb (knee), TE Jeremy Shockey (toe), and DE Bobby McCrary (back) all returned to practice yesterday and are expected to assume their normal roles.

Here are the rest of their injured:

Receiver Lance Moore (ankle, hamstring) and tailback Mike Bell (knee) practiced fully.

Ten other players were limited -- tailback Pierre Thomas (hip), guard Jahri Evans (foot), guard Carl Nicks (back), offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod (thumb), center Jonathan Goodwin (ankle), cornerback Tracy Porter (knee), safety Usama Young (hip), linebacker Jonathan Vilma (knee), linebacker Scott Fujita (knee) and linebacker Marvin Mitchell (hamstring).

they

might have to do what they did to Boldin, and hide his gear!

That won't work.

Ware would just go out there in shorts and a replica jersey and somehow dominate.

JJ states the obvious

http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/news/story?id=4754480

Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones remains noncommittal on coach Wade Phillips’ status beyond this season, saying the team’s performance down the stretch would play a significant role in his decision.

“The outcome of games ultimately do weigh in on decisions,” Jones said Friday on KRLD-FM in Dallas. “And the ones at the end probably have a little bit more weight than the ones at the beginning of the season.”

To bad he can’t fire himself. I can’t think of one GM that has been at the head of a team for 14 years without one playoff win.

Damn. Even the Clippers have won a playoff series in that time.

by Sharksbreath on Dec 18, 2009 2:34 PM CST reply actions

As long as Jerry is breathing

he will be running the Cowboys so you might as well resign yourself to that fact.

I was joking but ya gotta admit.....,.,,,

if Jerry wasn’t sooooooo rich, he does look pretty sleezy. I believe we have talked about this before, but it seems like his botox has reversed itself doesn’t it? I’m sure Jerry wants to win etc. but his meddling does get old.

by texstar on Dec 18, 2009 3:02 PM CST up reply actions

Jerry has behaved on draft day every since...

drafting a QB with the same birthday as him (Quincy Carter). He wanted Ware, Tuna wanted Merriman. Hmmm, good call JJ. JJ is not the problem. I think he needs to hire another psychologist, Brooking’s plate is getting too full.

by Keys80 on Dec 18, 2009 4:50 PM CST up reply actions

Bill wanted to draft Spears and the people in the scouting dept.

said that he would probably be there with Dallas’ 2nd # 1 pick and he was. Bill didn’t want Merriman that early because of character issue.

D Ware..if healthy is a crucial key to your game tommorrow night..

I hope he can go as long as he is healthy….I don’t trust Doctors, never have..If you recall, the reason Brees didn’t wind up in Miami, was because “a Doctor” on the Miami team failed his physical, because of his shoulder..brilliant “Doc”!. I want my money back!!!
Jerry Jones needs to give up thinking he is a football genious and just write out checks..and let somebody who know what they are doing run the organization…He’s a puppeteer..If I was Phillips I’d walk after tommorrow before he cans him..Go pound salt Jerry…

My preference is for him to

hand the reins over to son Stephen. Guy seems good to go.

Oh, I told you, well suggested to you guys that Cerratos resignation would prove no motivation..

For the players in Washington..Well guess what?..They are in serious talks with Shanahan..So, there you have it..The Redskins are now out to prove their worthy..

I think it's more likely the Skins go into the tank.

They’ve put on a brave face for their lame duck coach, but now that the stuff is finally hitting the fan, will be interesting how the team responds.

by Road Warrior on Dec 18, 2009 4:13 PM CST up reply actions

It would be easy for the Skins to tank.

Nothing to play for and with the moves little Danny has made the whole season I’m sure it’s like a monkey F—-ing a football around there.

How bout dem Frogs!!!!

by DIRE WOLF on Dec 18, 2009 4:22 PM CST up reply actions

That's quite the visual I got there. LOL.

They’ll try to play tough, but if they get behind early, I can see them giving up. Then again, we never put anyone away early, so I expect a tough game from them.

by Road Warrior on Dec 18, 2009 5:12 PM CST up reply actions

Pat Watkins, is out with his sprained knee. He is not expected to be back during the regular season.

Does this means Pat Watkins will be back for the playoffs, so we’ll get into the playoffs?

How do I end a blockquote?

Of course, we'll get to the playoffs! Can't keep Dallas outta there two seasons in a row...that's preposterous!

Looks like Shanahan is going to the Skins

along with a new GM that happens to be George Allen’s son. That team is a mess. I hope these two fall on their face also. :)

Regarding Ware

I’d rather the Cowboys lose to the Saints than D. Ware be rushed back before he’s ready. I still shudder when I think of that collision.

If he can’t get on the field tommorrow then there are players that need to take up the slack.

Butler might get his chance.

Everyone has wanted to see more playing time for Victor and now he should get the chance. We have to get some pressure on Brees or we have no chance. I sure hope Rat wrecks havoc in the middle and everyone else follows suit, its gonna be a very tough game.

by jointman13 on Dec 18, 2009 5:32 PM CST reply actions

I heard they might just use D Ware on third downs.

And let Butler take the bulk of the other snaps. That was Calvin Watkins on the radio quoting “sources” on the team.

Get off Jerry`s back

No owner in the history of the cowboys has been as successful as Mr.Jones so shut your damn mouths!!! Three rings, maybe the best sports stadium in the world and one of the best brands in sport. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Unfortunately he`s a little old to play now but it`s the one side of the game he can`t directly improve. Now get your heads out of ur behinds and support the damn team!

Most don't have a problem with Jerry as an owner.

I think he is a very good owner, but IMO if he would fire the GM and hire one that new more about running a football team he would be a much better owner.

you hit the nail on the head Dire......

Jerry, the GM, gets too emotionally involved with the players on a personal note, which affects his judgement from an ownership standpoint. Good examples are the T.O. situation. He was too personally involved in that from a GM standpoint agree?

by texstar on Dec 19, 2009 10:48 AM CST up reply actions

Just looking at the stats between the two teams...

Not a whole lot in it. Certainly not enough to warrant a 13-0 v 8-5 battle.

Everything is pretty even offensively apart from points per game…(admittedly a key difference!) Dal 22.8 v No 35.8, but not a lot in it…total yards per game: NO lead by roughly 35, passing yards : NO lead by 25 yds per game, rushing: NO by 10 yards.

Even the head to head: Romo v Brees, it’s still very close. Brees has thrown 250 yards more, 10 tds more and 3 Ints more than Romo over the season.

Basically they are not light years ahead of us and we match up quite well across the board.

Time to show what we are made of and stick it to them….
