Factual Statement

Take Dungy and Marshall Faulk and make them eat crow on live TV

Just watching NFL network gameday at least Michael tells it like it is.

Sure Marshall was a great back, with 1 ring, but Michael , in spite of all his off field issues,
was part of the heart and soul of several championship teams.

Marshall owes a lot to Curt Warner for his ring……….. Tony I respect for his character, but Manning , as shown this year, is equally responsible for his getting over the hump with a ring.

yeah, Sky Sports (FOX as you know it) shows the lunchtime game, then the 4.15pm game and then another channel shows

the Sunday night game.

your early game starts at about 6.00pm over here, your afternoon game starts at about 9.15pm and the Sunday night game starts at about 1.30 am

We used to get MNF but that’s stopped this year.

Overall, coverage started in 1985 abd built from there

Great Balance

Defense played incredible. To hold this team at home to just 17 points is quite a feat.

Good balance on offense, too. 145 rushing yards on 36 attempts. Romo 22/34, 312 yards, no turnovers. Romo is playing as good now as he has his entire career.

this is the pros

you don’t cut to punish players, you’d do it to replace them with someone better.

Who is better? Who is to say that a Pro Bowl kicks is only a rested muscle away from returning to form? And you cut him,a nd he goes to the skins, or you cut him and sign someone expensive with zero upside? I mean there are a ton more variables to address than a fan’s emotions.

He looks so much calmer on the sideline.

Spencer’s really coming on, 2 good bookends next year.

People management is very underrated. You have some that are superb at both, like Phil Jackson. But if you have a QB like Manning, you just have to keep that engine running smoothly.

staying in bounds and also

picking up extra yards by fighting ahead. He also looked smart on his other catch.

Phillips had a good game

and as you said, made some smart plays. And everyone knows this team needs some more of those type of players. But let’s not go overboard and throw out a perfectly good second year, 22 year old, #2 TE like Bennett.

Having three good TE is a necessity in our offense.

by Luke. on Dec 19, 2009 11:16 PM CST up reply actions

A necessity how?

Also, I’m not kicking Bennett off the team, but if I’m the GM, and someone offers me a 2nd, I’m taking it.

Upgrade to a BTB Platinum Account to view this signature.

by accidental innuendo on Dec 19, 2009 11:18 PM CST up reply actions

Well our offense seems to run two TE sets around 50% of the time.

So the second TE is virtually a starter for us and the third TE will be moved into the starting lineup if either of them goes down (hence Phillips playing more today for Bennett). If your going to run a two TE offense successfully I think having a good trio is a necessity.

Plus they’re both cheap. Keep them and we’ve got the best trio of TE’s in the league no doubt. Trade away Bennett and one injury puts our whole 2 TE offense out the window.

by Luke. on Dec 19, 2009 11:26 PM CST up reply actions

Fair enough

But I’d rather have a better FB than a third TE. Not that Deon isn’t adequate, but I think it would improve the running game.

by accidental innuendo on Dec 19, 2009 11:32 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah,

I’d really like the second coming of Moose Johnston but there just doesn’t seem to be many great blocking plus great receiving fullbacks around anymore.

Oh well, as a consolation I’m happy to have really good #2 and #3 TE’s who are young, cheap and here for at least the next three years.

by Luke. on Dec 19, 2009 11:45 PM CST up reply actions

I'm not saying ditch him

but he needs to get on the trolley. His progress has been dismal.

by I_miss_Switzer on Dec 20, 2009 12:16 AM CST up reply actions

No doubt he's stalled some

But he’s still really young both football wise (2nd year) and life wise (22). He made some great lays his rookie year and he’s made some good play this year too. He just needs a bit more work I think.
