Final Gave vs. Philly

Hi all,

I am not sure how this works, but someone here must know.

Star-divide

Is there any posibility of the season finale vs. Philly getting moved to the 4:15 Fox National game?

This game is probably going to be for the division and would be a better draw than the current games scheduled for Fox's 4:15 time slots:

Green Bay @ Arizona - possble playoff implicaitons but not the draw a Cowboy vs. Philly game would have.

Washington @ San Diego - sleeper

There's talk of it moving to primetime

I bet it gets moved to the 2nd round of games if it doesnt get picked for sunday night.
they scheduale all the games early that week and then move them around for playoff implications, so yes

It'll likely be the Sunday night game...

Either Dallas/Philly, or Colts/whoever they play (because or the undefeated season thing, assuming they remain undefeated).

They’ll do some test consumer research, and the decision will be made solely on what game they think will attract more viewers (and thus, more $), which will likely be Philly/Dallas.

It actually benefits us both strategically that way. We’ll already know how the playoff picture has formed based on the earlier games, and can play accordingly.

by JimmyK on Dec 22, 2009 11:19 AM CST up reply actions

ok, way cool... thanks....

but, can they really move it to the Sunday night game?
Hasn’t Dallas already had their fill of prime time (sunday or monday) night games. Of course counting the Skins game this week.

and any idea on when they would make that call?

by stephena on Dec 22, 2009 11:06 AM CST reply actions

The call would need to be made 6 days out
In Week 17, in order to ensure a Sunday night game with playoff implications, the decision to move the start time may be made on six days notice.

So I’m guessing that shortly after the Washington game, the call would be made.

That would suck.

I have to drive from Sacramento to LA that day, and the only way I would be able to watch it is if it is in the 10 AM slot.

That means both..

Cowboy v. Eagle games in 2009 would be Sunday night affairs.

The NFC East has won 11 Super Bowls; oddly none of those have come courtesy of the Eagles.

Cowboys match up well against the Eagles

Reasons:
1) Cowboys can pressure McNabb because he likes to go deep. Those plays take time to develop. Cowboys corners match up well with the Eagles. Last game Maclin was covered by Jenkins (who had an INT btw) and Hamlin covered over the top on Desean Jackson with Newman covering in the short zone. Sensabaugh and Barbie (who’s pretty good in coverage) can contain Celek, and Scandrick covers Reggie Brown in the slot. I’m sure Wade and Campo look at how the Eagles try to get Desean open. In a cover-2, they run the slot guy directly at one safety who’s forced to cover, the corner covering
2) Eagles don’t know what to do with Jason Witten or TE’s in general. Once they start doubling him, Miles will be available or Felix in the flat.

by DatNguyenNguyenScenario on Dec 22, 2009 1:24 PM CST reply actions

Cant argue the TE problem

but I do have to point out that they held Davis to 3 cathes for minimal yardage this past weekend. Its a good start.

wow

you cant compare witten to davis dude

by Dr. Cowboy on Dec 22, 2009 1:58 PM CST up reply actions

That's true you can't compare those two

I love Witten but Vernon Davis is a physical freak. That’s why Davis was a top 10 pick in the draft. He ran a 4.4, a 52" vertical (not a typo), and is now producing even though the QB play for the Niners is poor. Witten was taken in the third round for a reason.

by DatNguyenNguyenScenario on Dec 22, 2009 2:49 PM CST up reply actions

By that logic you would prefer Ryan Leaf or Jamarcus Russell

to Romo then?

So I had to establish the rules and regulations of the game...85!

by aussie_cowboy on Dec 23, 2009 12:23 AM CST up reply actions

What do you mean you can’t compare Davis to Witten?

I think his point is Davis has been a Pro Bowl TE this year and the Eagles just about shut him down. Not taking anything away from Witten, but you can’t say he’s heads and shoulders better than Davis… not this year at least.

The Eagles are the first team in NFL history to have a running back and a wide receiver with 500 yards apiece in the same season before their 22nd birthdays.

by Smitty2K3 on Dec 22, 2009 3:21 PM CST up reply actions

I love Witten

but Vernon Davis is a physical specimen. Plain Beastly. I would say you can’t compare them though too. Not because one is better than the other, but because they play different football. Apples to oranges ya know?

I would love to agree

that Witten is better. But I also am biased. Perfect example: I had Davis and Witten both on my Fantasy team this year. Kept playing Witten cause he’s my guy… Definately hurt in the long run.

by Mac_24 on Dec 22, 2009 5:46 PM CST up reply actions

Witten is one of the best TE's and not just this year like Davis.

Just because the Eagles shut Davis down doesn’t mean they will do that against Witten. For one, Dallas has many more weapons and alot more opportunities for Witten to get open. Our offense in general is heads and shoulders above SF, and that alone makes Witten more dangerous.

Better FF player =/= best football player

blocking, offensive schemes both play a part as well.

by aussie_cowboy on Dec 23, 2009 12:24 AM CST up reply actions

Wow, you're right

There’s absolutely no way the Eagles will be able to move the ball at all with all those defenders in their way on the other side. The Cowboys offense is a match up nightmare for EVERY DEFENSE in the league, so I can’t imagine the Eagles stopping their progress. I guess the Birds will just be forced to suit up for the game as a mere formality to avoid any disciplinary action from the NFL

Nice comeback

It has style, content and exudes sarcasm. I give it a 8.5 out of 10.

I am just wondering why all the emphasis on the last game on both sites, when both teams need to get past this weeks opponents. Neither game is a cakewalk. Just saying……..

by thepainster on Dec 23, 2009 8:55 AM CST up reply actions

I guess tensions just run higher when we play eachother

When it’s “cowboy week”, I’m nervous the whole week. I’m confident of nothing. Do I think we’ll beat you? Sure, I’m an Eagle fan…am I CONFIDENT? NO, NEVER, NOT ONCE!!!

It’s a good thing I have no position with the Eagles because I’m always a game or two ahead of the schedule when the Cowboys are coming up. I just hope the Eagles are looking at the Broncos, while I worry about the ’Boys.

Hey...

..at least the Eagles are in regardless of what happens from here. I’m worried about the ’Boys against the ’skins much less Philly the following week.

I also hope it is not the 1 p.m. game

Otherwise I don’t get to watch it

Considering Dallas usually attracks the biggest TV audience,

I don’t see this one being any different. It will be for sure 4:15 and most likely the night game.

ok let me re-phrase this.....I didn't know we had to type as in English class

For sure it will be no earlier than the 4:15 game, but most likely will turn out to be the night game. Better ? :)
