Sunday Games Open Thread

After waiting for Santa, we have to wait again. The Cowboys and Redskins don't kickoff until tonight. In the meantime, enjoy the Sunday afternoon games.

There are still a variety of permutations for playoff spots and playoff seeds in the NFC.

The Panthers visit the Giants, while the Broncos tussle with the Eagles later in the afternoon.

Green Bay plays host to Seattle and Arizona welcomes St. Louis.

This is an open thread for game chat.

A philly loss does not help us unless dallas loses tonight

Dallas still needs to beat philly next week to win the east

Philly losing doesn't really even help us then

unless the Giants lose. A 3 way tie at the end of the seasons means Dallas is out. Wish we could have won against the Giants at least 1 time. I am kinda hoping Philly wins to keep pressure on Minnesota.

Bennett and Phillips

Many people have been talking about Phillips and Bennett. I love me some Marty B. However, in watching Phillips, he reminds me of another cowboys TE. You know big, strong, good blocker, not the fastest in the wordl but smart, dependable and crafty with routes. Now I am not annointing him but he sure seems very similar to that “other” white TE on the roster.

but if they thought he was going to be good Jerry should have found a way to keep him. Put him on the 53 if that’s what it takes. QBs are to hard to find to let a good one go for nothing.

Honestly,

I just want the Cowboys want to take care of their business without help from anyone. They completely own what happens to them and that’s rare this late in the season.

Just go out and beat the redskins..

Of course, I still the Giants and Eagles to lose because they’re divisional rivals..

But pressure is a good thing,

It builds character, especially before going into the playoffs. The Cowboys must deal with the pressure this season in order to be successful.

The final game of last season showed they couldn’t handle pressure, they folded like a cheap tent.

"What the hell is going on out there?" - Vince Lombardi.

by Nisri on Dec 27, 2009 12:38 PM CST up reply actions

The Eagles game has no bearing on the Cowboys.

If the Cowboys beat the Eagles next week, Cowboys win the division (assuming they win today), regardless of whether the Eagles win or not. But, if the Eagles win, they keep putting pressure on the Viking, thus they would have to play hard next week against the Giants. The Giants losing could be an insurance against the Cowboys crapping their pants next week.

5 Wild Card teams have reached the SuperBowl in the Past 10 years.

That’s a 25% chance that a Wild Card team will make it to the big game. 3 of those 5 teams won the whole thing. Thats a 33% chance. Although I like the Cowboys chances as a Division Winner better, I will take the playoffs anyway they come. Any given Sunday as people will often say.

Object Lesson for DAL

No matter how good you look the week before or how supposedly weak your opponent is – you got to TCB. NY was driving for a 1st possession score, looking like it was picking up where it left off against WAS. One play turned teh entire game around.

Dallas – the only way to be what you aspire to be is to play hard, play smart and impose your will on the other team. The only way to erase erased the stigma of last year’s collapse, is to win.

Always be more than you appear and never appear to be more than you are

Although in some strange way the fact that the Saints might actually have to beat a pretty solid Panthers team to gain homefield would actually give them more momentum heading in than beating the Bucs to clinch would have.
