Sunday Games Open Thread
After waiting for Santa, we have to wait again. The Cowboys and Redskins don't kickoff until tonight. In the meantime, enjoy the Sunday afternoon games.
There are still a variety of permutations for playoff spots and playoff seeds in the NFC.
The Panthers visit the Giants, while the Broncos tussle with the Eagles later in the afternoon.
Green Bay plays host to Seattle and Arizona welcomes St. Louis.
This is an open thread for game chat.

A philly loss does not help us unless dallas loses tonight
Dallas still needs to beat philly next week to win the east

Philly losing doesn't really even help us then
unless the Giants lose. A 3 way tie at the end of the seasons means Dallas is out. Wish we could have won against the Giants at least 1 time. I am kinda hoping Philly wins to keep pressure on Minnesota.
Dallas will beat philly next week to win the east

Need to clean out the garage today. I'll be back for the Redskins/Cowboys KO. GO Matt Moore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Family, Friends, Cowboys, Beer & BBQ. Life is good!
Ha! I've got garage work to do too.
Might just take the laptop out there and find some livestreams.
I saw a dog today. Have you seen a dog? You probably have. How was school? Was it fun? Did you get a lot of homework? Huh? Do you have any friends? Do you have a best friend? Does he have a big coat, too?

Bennett and Phillips
Many people have been talking about Phillips and Bennett. I love me some Marty B. However, in watching Phillips, he reminds me of another cowboys TE. You know big, strong, good blocker, not the fastest in the wordl but smart, dependable and crafty with routes. Now I am not annointing him but he sure seems very similar to that “other” white TE on the roster.

He might be similar in color and size but thats about it

Dallas has a good #1
but if they thought he was going to be good Jerry should have found a way to keep him. Put him on the 53 if that’s what it takes. QBs are to hard to find to let a good one go for nothing.
How bout dem Frogs!!!!
Honestly,
I just want the Cowboys want to take care of their business without help from anyone. They completely own what happens to them and that’s rare this late in the season.
Just go out and beat the redskins..
Of course, I still the Giants and Eagles to lose because they’re divisional rivals..
"What the hell is going on out there?" - Vince Lombardi.
A giants loss would be a huge help
I also just want too see dallas take care of biz but alot of pressure would be taken off there shoulders with a giants loss…Doubt its going to happen anyway but u never know
^^^^^
What the hell?
I’m repeating words and missing other ones.. Ooops!
"What the hell is going on out there?" - Vince Lombardi.
But pressure is a good thing,
It builds character, especially before going into the playoffs. The Cowboys must deal with the pressure this season in order to be successful.
The final game of last season showed they couldn’t handle pressure, they folded like a cheap tent.
"What the hell is going on out there?" - Vince Lombardi.
thats true
I think I am more concerned with taking more stress off of my own shoulders…I rather avoid another repeat of last year

If Dallas wins out
and goes into the playoffs as the NFC east champs they will be a force to deal with. If they go 1-1 and back into the playoffs not so much.
How bout dem Frogs!!!!
strange, but I'm going to root
For the eagles, today. Maybe, it will motivate the Vikings to play hard against the gnats.
by Mr._Mulligan on Dec 27, 2009 12:35 PM CST via mobile reply actions
The Eagles game has no bearing on the Cowboys.
If the Cowboys beat the Eagles next week, Cowboys win the division (assuming they win today), regardless of whether the Eagles win or not. But, if the Eagles win, they keep putting pressure on the Viking, thus they would have to play hard next week against the Giants. The Giants losing could be an insurance against the Cowboys crapping their pants next week.
by Mr._Mulligan on Dec 27, 2009 12:40 PM CST up reply actions
If the Cowboys "crap their pants" next week,
then they don’t deserve to go to the playoffs, period.

Not like that man,

"What the hell is going on out there?" - Vince Lombardi.
5 Wild Card teams have reached the SuperBowl in the Past 10 years.
That’s a 25% chance that a Wild Card team will make it to the big game. 3 of those 5 teams won the whole thing. Thats a 33% chance. Although I like the Cowboys chances as a Division Winner better, I will take the playoffs anyway they come. Any given Sunday as people will often say.

Object Lesson for DAL
No matter how good you look the week before or how supposedly weak your opponent is – you got to TCB. NY was driving for a 1st possession score, looking like it was picking up where it left off against WAS. One play turned teh entire game around.
Dallas – the only way to be what you aspire to be is to play hard, play smart and impose your will on the other team. The only way to erase erased the stigma of last year’s collapse, is to win.
Always be more than you appear and never appear to be more than you are

What would he be worth now as our #2? He’d be a solid backup for us and could be worth a #2 or #1 draft pick for a trade partner?
You can't make that assumption....
If Moore was playing behind Romo he’d never see the field. He looked downright awful last season, too. His value would never be a #1 or #2 on this team.

they played better than they are today, for sure
in one, Romo played his worst game of the season.
In the other, our oline was pounded by a dline that got up to play them.
In both, the Giants put points on the board with relative ease (which they do to most teams)
actually if you read their blog...
how did that team sweep us AND the refs. Everything is the refs fault…
It's one of those things
Mismatches in the division happen.
The ’70 Cowboys went to the Super Bowl.
But they were swept by the Cardinals, who were 7-2 and collapsed late, by
a combined score of 58-7.
Some years you just don’t match up with one team.
The '95 Cowboys won the Super Bowl
but they were swept by a sub .500 Redskins team.
It happens.

Great fantasy development for me in BTB fantasy championship
I have Crosby and Doomsday has Rodgers. They are on Seattle’s 15 yard line. Rodgers throws the ball 14 yards and the receiver is tackled on the one yard line, which eventually results in a field goal. Beautiful.

we had a shot to win those 2 you mention. Heck we prolly should have won those 2
Well I just said the Ravens game because it was the closing of Texas Stadium, so the parallels are there
But yeah, this is more of a beating of “44-6” standards.
Speaking of the Ravens,
they just tied the squeelers

I think...
Unless Minnesota or Green Bay loses out, the ‘Boys and Iggles will be 3rd seed and 6th seed. Who’s where depends on who wins next week. Either way, w would play them 2 weeks in a row.
When the wild card came into the NFL
a team couldn’t play a another team in their own conf. the first game
How bout dem Frogs!!!!
yeah, but wouldnt it be orgasmic 2 step on their filthy 'midnight green' throats 2 weeks in a row

That kicker accuracy is down 5-10 %age points league-wide. Folk was just helping the curve.

guess that redskin game was a fluke
for the giants of course, the redskins are pretty awful

Really, Colts; really?
And by proxy really, Peyton; really? You think Tom Brady’s shrill screeching ass would let himself be replaced like this?
I think

Clarice Painter just blew the Colts undefeated season.
I wonder if Egghead forces his way back into the game.
Of course when the Colts lose in the divisional again.....
The flogging won’t be as brutal if they’re not undefeated. Or will it?
“Gee willickers, I tell you the Colts really lost momentum when they replaced Manning late in that next-to-last game instead of going for the undefeated season. It really deflated them.”
I don't know why they always do this
The one season they do win the Superbowl, they had to fight their way all the way into the postseason instead of resting starters, sipping tea, etc.

Sheldon Brown is hurt pretty bad
Huge loss for the iggles if he can’t go next week.
Ich bin ein Berliner--JFK
How'd that happen?
Concerned, but I’ll take it!

he looked like he had a lower leg injury.
let’s see if he comes back or not. i.e. hurt or injured.

Here's a perfect example for how HORRIBLE Eagles fans are:

Gitant fans crack me up
Going into this weekend 70% of Giant fans thought they would make the playoffs how comical. Talk about an overreaction to one game. Its funny because Tuck said this was feeling like 2007 when they won Superbowl. Hows it feel now Tuck?
OH NOES!!!
We may have a game on our hands, ladies and gents!!!

eagles fans complaining about the refs...classic lmaooooo
there imploding right now ..
Broncos making is very interesting all of a sudden
would be so sweet to see both giants and eagles lose, go broncos!
this game doesn't really affect anything
we have to beat them next week either way if we want the NFC east championship
True, except
Maybe the Vikings have more motivation against NY-and we may still need that…..
I haven’t done the math lately, but if Vikings lose, Eagles win, can they still get that bye away from MN?
All meaning, it may be better if Eagles win this game, actually! (If Boys lose tonight)

I'd rather Vikings lose
we still have a shot at the bye and the Giants will hopefully mean nothing to us after tonight.
If the Cowboys still need a Giants loss next weekend...
That means they crawled into the playoffs like chumps and would subsequently get squashed like little bug bastids.
well, they'd be in
but I’m with you

Anyone else getting tired of seeing so many WR screens in the NFL?
getting to be overused.
Also, when was the last time a Cowboy laid a hit like that one on the kickoff that caused that fumble?
Both teams look very physical out there.

yeah, I remember that
I miss early RWilliams ….
Used to love counting the dropped passes after he laid a hit early in a game.

I know
The Egals can stuff the run well….But the Broncos have given up on their running game…..They wont win the game just throwing

As long as we take care of business the rest of this year, the result of the Iggles game doesn't matter
Let’s just make to sure end the regular season on a bright note!
Some wussy playcalling there

we’re going to be w/out the special teams coach tonight?

what this Deenver game actually menas is that if we beat Philty next week, we wont be playing them in the 1st round
we would probably be playing green bay
We eliminate NY with a win
so it still has a lot of meaning.
plus how nice would it be to go in to the playoffs with a 3-game win streak
while the iggles go in on a 2-game losing streak
I dont know what some of you are drinking
But if the Egals lose+ a Boys win….we’re tied for the NFC East lead….with next week for all the marbles….Less meaning…are you kidding me?
by PasstheSuper Bowl on Dec 27, 2009 6:35 PM CST reply actions
what???????????
Dallas can win the division eeven if philly wins as long as they win tonight…come onnnnnnnnnn mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn jezzzzz
I think people are thinking that, as long as the Boys win today, a win next week will be
a division title, regardless of the Broncos game.

Dallas now gets a third shot a knowcking out the gints for a 2nd time, they better cashin this time.
Ignore the Mainstream Media, EMBRACE THE HATE!!!!
Thats game
Now its time for the Boys to put a whoopin on the skins!
Time to pull the plug
On the Giants playoffs hopes!
Mc Daniels should have gone for it on 4-2, instead of playing it safe, the game should have been put in his offenses hand.

Disagree with the reversal. He dragged his feet,
but his right foot was off the ground as he gained control of the ball. Ugh.
I think that was a helluva catch.
gotta give the beagle credit
just read at dasllascowboys.com
that wes phillips, son of wade, “will assume most of the special teams duties”. he apparently handled things in the offseason after decamillis got hurt in the practice bubble
