I don't understand all the pulling and

movement on a 4 and inches run? Why not a QB sneak like all other teams do?

by Nisri on Dec 27, 2009 9:51 PM CST reply actions

Roy's unwillingness to catch the ball. . .

. . .is starting to catch up with us. Tony doesn’t trust Roy = limited options = forcing passes like the one to Choice = getting RW’s teammates hurt. Bench RW — he’s a massive liability now, too.

by dfan77 on Dec 27, 2009 9:52 PM CST reply actions

how many looks has RW

seen since? And especially since that obvious drop in the 3rd?

I’m sure Tony will keep it simple for “short bus” Williams and only throw to him when he has no other option. And then cross his fingers.

by dfan77 on Dec 27, 2009 9:55 PM CST up reply actions

That's what we have to come to grips with

Roy isn’t a #1 receiver. He’s going to make a few plays (like the TD) and make a few bad ones. And in the meantime, Miles and Witten make the important plays.

yeah, i googled, here's some on it:

“Officials have been told to throw a flag when an offensive player grabs onto or twists the facemask of a defender — a 15-yard facemask penalty — or when he violently shoves a defender aside with a stiff arm to the face — a 15-yard hands-to-the-face penalty.

“Then, I’m going to use the elbow,” Barber said, jokingly, before adding, “I didn’t even know. I’m going to have to read up on it. So you can’t stiff arm at all? What about the throat?”

I'm happy

nothing ever comes easy against washington…but we’ve played very very well tonight aside from drops and short yardage.

Romo + this defense…we’ve got a shot to make some real noise these playoffs.

"When people talk about Super Bowl dynasties they mention the 1970's Steelers, 1980's 49ers, 1990's Cowboys and the current New England Patriots, but nobody has dominated the Super Bowl like Anheuser-Busch. In recent years, Budweiser has been the MVP of Super Bowl advertising -- making another company the favorite to win the Ad Meter poll was never an option."

I know division winner matters in the first round

But does it in the later rounds? Even if we win division and finish with same record as GB, would we still host them if we faced them?

by mhuff13 on Dec 27, 2009 10:07 PM CST up reply actions

I was wondering that too

I forget – it didn’t used to be the case, but there may have been a recent rule change that would give GB the home field against us in thatpotential nfc champ game.

If we have the bye, we absolutely are at home in round 2.

Cards hosted the Eagles in the Title Game last year despite having more losses...

And the Eagles beating them in the regular season so I guess Division Winner supercedes head-to-head throughout.

by MadMick on Dec 27, 2009 10:18 PM CST up reply actions

It is kind of goofy though when you get 8-8 and 9-7 teams hosting in January.

Especially a team like last year’s Cards who only got in to begin with because they were able to fatten up on such a crap division.

by Nisri on Dec 27, 2009 10:07 PM CST reply actions

i absolutely dissagree about

Barber…

he is NOT a runner like LT was or A. Peterson is, etc….

he had a few great years when he was sharing time consintantly with Julius Jones…

JJ would run OK and MBIII would come in and Hammer the D.

remember when Emmitt left Dallas and Hambrick took over….?!?!?! Hambrick played well behind Emmitt and we all loved Emmitt but he was at his end and Troy was coming up..
as soon as Troy was the main guy, they knew how to play him and he did SHIT…

i think if we STARTED Choice, and used Felix the same.. .then brought in MBIII on short yardage, goal line, and to close out games.. we would have a different backfield..

now MBIII (and remember i said he is NOT an all game, every down back) would have more TDs and more long runs as he would be fresh vs. a tired D.

that’s my take…

i don’t think J G is using our backs in the rigth combo..

by stephena on Dec 27, 2009 10:07 PM CST reply actions

I agree

Felix needs to be our starter, I can’t think of any logical reason not to have him do so.

Who cares who the starter is?

That doesn’t even matter in the NFL anymore. Regardless, they’re going to split carries. It’s just the # of carries each gets that matters.

by mhuff13 on Dec 27, 2009 10:09 PM CST up reply actions

by starter i mean

the guy who is out there on MOST basic first and second down plays…

exceptions being short yardage and goal line…

so ‘starer’ is really just a situation term to me..

stiffarm rule

It is a offensive facemask is the rule you can still stiff arm. I like barber but we when he was a finisher he ran with som much passion and heart and I don’t see it anymore. 2 years ago that stutter step woulndt have happened he would have ran some ones butt over for that first down. With our 3 backs he has to be the physical one.

I'm undecided

I love the poise of this team and think we’ll rise to the challenge. Maybe moreso than if we’re at home.

Yet, I don’t like the idea of a cold weather game, where mcnabb has an obvious advantage over Romo and i don’t think either team will run the ball well

by foyesboys on Dec 27, 2009 10:14 PM CST up reply actions

Taking emotions out of wanting to win the next immediate game...

…Would it be harder to have to win three road playoff games or potentially beat the Eagles three times including twice in less than a month? Of course, I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t happen unless the Cowboys and Eagles ended up playing Wildcard Weekend and I believe that’s the least likely scenario.

so...using yahoo's scenario generator

IF minny gets the 2 seed, we are guaranteed a rematch against philly.

If Minny loses 1 game, and philly wins, we are either @ Minny (GB wins) or @ AZ (GB loses)

If Minny loses twice, everything is in play. Too complicated. Philly, AZ or us could get a bye in that order.
