Eagles games back to back?
Hello all.
I'm sure a little research would yield a result, but I like you guys, so I figure I'd ask the community instead.
If we win the division, and the Eagles get a Wildcard, could we face them in back to back games? I mean, we play them for our last game. The only way we get a bye is if the Vikes take a major dive, which I don't see happening. So, we will most likely be playing in Wildcard weekend.
Does anyone know how those matchups work? Is it based on record? Do they separate teams based on division?
Is it possible we'd play Philly back to back, and if so....how much would that suck?

First round matchups...
Seeds 1 and 2 get first round byes.
The 3 seed (the division winner with the 3rd best record in the conference) plays the 6 seed (the wildcard with the worst record).
The 4 seed (the division winner with the 4th best record) plays the 5 seed (the best wildcard).
Unlike in baseball, you play whoever you’re seeded against regardless of whether they’re in your division or not.
So yes, it’s a very real possibility that the Cowboys might play the Eagles in the first round of the playoffs, whether we win the division or you do.
Could happen
Looks like the Saints and Vikings will get the No.1 and 2 seeds. The third and fourth seeds play the wildcard teams, so yes, it’s possible.

Thanks for that.
Cleared it right up for me. Wouldn’t that be nuts if it happened to us AND Arizona and GB?
Two repeat performances. Interesting.
JERRY: I worked a club in Dallas one time and they couldn't afford to pay me so they gave me these. Oh, I can't wear these! They look ridiculous!
KRAMER: Ah, you look like a cowboy! Huh?
JERRY: But I don't wanna be a cowboy!

agree Terry.........
he couldn’t change it this year anyway even if he wanted to
agreed
Not only are there rules, but I don’t see what the argument is for making a change

I can remember the old rule
where you couldn’t play a divisional opponent in the WC round, never thought that made any sense back then.

Fortunately this isn't baseball
or he might!
Love that Allstar Game idea, lol

The funny thing is
it could happen to Arizona as well. Green Bay heads to Arizona the final week and could conceivably play them in Arizona again the next week for the wild card.
Anyone know what the precedence is?
I think the Giants and Eagles had this happen a while back, and I remember it happening now and then. Is there a trend in the rematch?
I think the NFC East champs will most likely be the 3 seed…
The Cardinals are slumping somewhat and thus will fall into the 4 seed. This means the NFC East runner up will be in a race with Green Bay (most likely) for the 5 seed.
So we could just as easily see Dallas (should they win the east) hosting Green Bay wild card weekend as we could see a 3rd match up with the Eagles. Frankly I’d love another shot at the Packers; but this time in Dallas.
But alas I’m getting ahead of myself, as there are still remain 5 very tough games to be played between now and then.
The 2009 Dallas Cowboys: Talk to me in December.
The NFC East has won 11 Super Bowls; oddly none of those have come courtesy of the Eagles.
yes you are...
if you look at the schedule AND individual matchups, we could drop the rest of our games – sounds crazy, but it very well could happen. We don’t match up well with the aints or bolts at all and the giants and eagles and giants are always trouble.

honestly
we could play “well” and go 2-3 and miss the playoffs. Its entirely possible.
If we play well every game though, we should definitely NOT lose to the GIants and Redskins. We are better than those two teams. The Giants are like half a team at this point.
our chances of dropping the rest of our games
is the same as us winning out the rest of our games. Cowboys match up well against any team if they execute and protect the ball.
I still believe the only team that can beat the Cowboys are the Cowboys.

well we'll see against NO.
I love how the new buzz word in the NFL is “execute.” Everyone makes it sound so simple that if your team executes then you’ll win. I think you can pretty much say that about most of the teams on any given Sunday. Not trying to diminish what you are saying, but sometimes the other team has something to do with whether you execute or not.
If you have the talent it's very true
Being a really good team takes both talent and execution, can’t have just one to be successful.
And when two teams are equally as talented and execute about the same, then usually turnovers will be the difference in the game.

As of right this minute the playoff seedings are such
that Green Bay would visit Dallas and the Eagles would go to Arizona.
Let's get into the playoffs first
and I am still waiting for a FanPost or something about Wade Phillips saying he feels disrespected by Jerry since he’s been such a winner. Could somebody please get on that please? Thanks.
Of course I would prefer
that the Eagles stumble down the stretch and have the Cowboys administer the coup de grace in the season finale.
I suppose it’s possible. Will DeSean Jackson miss any time with his concussion? The Eagles are at Atlanta, who are without Ryan and possibly Turner but fighting for their playoff lives, at the Giants who may also be fighting for their season, at the 49ers (win) and at Denver before finishing up at Dallas. If the Eagles go 2-2 in the next four games, then it’s conceiveable that a season-ending loss would keep them home for the playoffs at 9-7.
Besides, the Eagles suck in December, right? Since 2006 they’re only, uh…well…never mind.
