Sound the Alarm Bells!! (part 2)
Just the other day, I viewed the highlights to the 2007 Divisional Playoff game ... all I was left with was an overwhelming disappointment as I kept asking myself "what if ...?" I remember how disappointed I felt after that Divisional Playoff game. Watching the Giants beating the 16-0 Patriots, later that year, couldn't help but feel that it should have been us. Its sad, but I almost expected to lose last year with the Eagles. It was difficult watching my favorite football team lose their manlihood. Their pride was stepped on. Their egos were battered. Tough times for a Dallas Cowboy fan.
We all remember .. Eli Manning taking a knee at the twenty with 9 seconds on the clock ..
I am quite sure we all recall .. forty-four to six!!
Think about it ... this is who the Dallas Cowboys are. Everyone remembers the collosal collapses. From the players to the coaches to the owner to the fans ... 44-6 resounds and repeats and repeats in our memories.
We all fear December ... whether we admit it or not, we all fear it. We all fear what the ending of our season will bring. Yet we watch with anticipation, like watching a good horror film with our hands over our eyes, but constantly slipping a peak through the cracks between our fingers to see what happens next.
We are sure "44-6" is who the Cowboys are by the way we, the fans, act. For instance, when you get in a heated exchange with your buddy who cheers for the G-men or just some random Eagles fan at the bar you frequent. You start off pounding your chest and say things like, "How 'bout those first place Cowboys!" But once the Giants fan grasps his Adam's apple (as to say "your Boys" are gonna choke), or the Eagles fan throws out that dreaded score (oh that dreaded score!) .. your head falls and you half-heartedly say, "Well we'll get them this year." .. "Romo is gonna choke!" is so branded into our heads, that even the strong-hearted Cowboys fans have lost faith.
There have been plenty who have come down this road, though. .. Isaah's Pistons .. Elway's Broncos .. Manning's Colts. Guys, and teams, who just were never gonna get over the hump. These great players all had their own demons, that were larger than life. Elway had the Super Bowl .. Manning the Patriots .. etc. etc. The critics and pundits echo their small-mindedness, when it comes to the '09 Cowboys, because we all know "Romo's Cowboys will never win a Championship" either. Heck they are not even gonna win a playoff game. Its never gonna happen because it hasn't happened yet. The so called "experts" say so, just like they said Elway could never win the BIG ONE. Boy I wish I had a dollar every time the Mike Franscesas and self-proclaimed sports experts of the world were wrong. (Franscesa is a New York sports radio personality, for those who don't know of him .. and an arrogant Giants fan)
It was a wiser man than your average sports pundit who pondered the greater aspect of failure and losing. Abraham Lincoln, during a time of the U.S's despair once thought aloud about failure, (and I swear to you a sign on the wall above the exit to the Cowboys' locker room should hang there saying the same), "My greatest concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with failure."
You see, its not us, its not some guy on TV or on the radio behind a microphone .. It is the Dallas Cowboys who need to ... remember how they felt after that Divisional Playoff game ... how bad that off-season hurt ... it’s the Dallas Cowboys … who need to think long and hard about the sting of 44-6 ... and ask themselves "are THEY content with that" … are THEY content with another long summer of thinking about “what if ..?”
Use the past as your mirror .. and you will find the real you. .. Romo's Cowboys have failed ... but they are far from content with it! .. On a November night in Philadelphia they showed me exactly who they are .. They will show the rest of the world who they are on a February night in Miami.

Please forgive me for saying this,
but you’re all over the board here. I get what you’re trying to say but I was lost a couple of times.
Go Cowboys though..!
"What the hell is going on out there?" - Vince Lombardi.
Biggest game of the year ...
was in Philly.
This post was really in responce to Tex’s “Sound the Alarm Bells” where he spews the venum and pieces together that because the Cowboys have lost when it counts in years past, they will continue that trend. My point is that just because Dallas has failed, does not mean it will continue. Media darlings and fans always jump on this bus. History has proven them wrong! Teams/Players such as Elway that were left for dead, lost the big one when they got there, then turned it around and defeated their demons.
Sure, falling apart down the stretch or in the playoffs would be devastating … but I have faith in this team because the way they have responded all season. Right now IMO, they have to flip the switch up a notch … and I think this group is capable of that.
In any case …. LETS GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This isn't the same team,
I truly believe these guys are different. I see a TEAM this year. Last year I saw a bunch of individuals. Romo has to throw to the open guy, not the one who wants the ball. AND, if one of the"stars" doesn’t get his stats so what. They don’t act dissapointed as long as they win. Good riddance T.O, Pacman, and Tank. Wade also knows he’s got to get it done or he’ll be looking for employment. I’ve got faith in this group of guys. We’ll be peaking at the right time December be damned. I just hope we’ve got enough firepower to beat the Saints when the moneys on the table.
This December will be different
In 2006, Romo only had 6 games under his belt, in 2007, we pretty much had the #1 seed wrapped up by virtue of our big win over the Packers the game after Thanksgiving and were on cruise control that December and last season we had injuries to key personnel, cancerous personalities dividing the locker room as well as 4 really tough defensive playoff teams that December.
This December, Romo has proved that he is getting better at really learning how to manage games when needed, our defense is playing great, our injuries are at a minimum and the locker room chemistry has never been better with guys like Brooking stepping up as leaders.
This December will be different for those reasons.
In Romo we Trust
Interesting note
that last year we had to play a bunch of tough defenses (4 top 10 defenses if I remember correctly) in December and this year we play a bunch of top 10 offenses. Interesting twist.
Ya'll may be done
before getting to play my Saints. Your December record aint too good you know. NYG are looking to stay in the race and ya’ll are in the way so I see them pounding you into submission Sunday. They know their season is done if they dont take it from ya’ll and I agree so my money is on the NYG………………..28 NYG 17 Dallas
You are here because???
…. Oh thats right because if one team scares you and the New Orleans faithful .. it is our Boys!! We match up with the Saints better than any team in the NFC.
Balanced offense.
Good secondary.
Front 4 that can pressure the QB.
.. We will see you in January!!

Look mate
I get that you are trying to take advantage of the first and likely only year that your Saints appear at all formidable, but its getting a little bit old.
The Knights season may have just ended, but the Cowboys year is just begining!
