cowboys lose again in december, but...

hard to blame that on romo. i don’t like his last couple of throws, but the guy he went 36-49 for over 300 yards, 2 TDs, no INTs. it wasn’t his fault today.

hard to believe we had the early lead in this one.

Raf hit it on da nose prior to this game. It's up to the D... and the D came up short.

The D allowing big plays, MB3’s fumble, Folk’s missed FGs, and the ST allowing Hixon’s punt return TD were more the reason for this loss — not Romo’s play.

Name a QB that can make every throw.

They weren’t “dumb” passes they were just off. “Dumb” passes would be ones that he threw to the other team. He didn’t do any of that. The only reason we were in this game at all was because of Romo. And that grounding call was because his O-line was horrible once again.

It’s amazing that Romo could have such an overall good game against a division opponent in their own house and you take two throws of his and lump him in with all the bad things that happened today.

I said he played well

and made three costly errors in crunch time

The pass to Barber was dumb because Romo could have run for it and made a dumb pass

The won to Williams wasn’t dumb – just off by 6 yards

by I_miss_Switzer on Dec 6, 2009 6:35 PM CST up reply actions

I should have figured someone would find a way to put this on him. He missed

a pass. He also hit a whole bunch of crucial ones. Why was Barber hanging around short of the first down marker? Huh? He plants his sorry butt a few yards downfield, and it’s a first down. Romo was still putting them in a position to do something when he hit Austin for that TD pass. Know what? I’m not going to argue with a hater like you. This loss is on ST and D, not on Romo.

I pointed out everything he did well and now all you can do is try to twist out of it by sayin “I said he played well”. It’s what’s called a backhanded compliment. You can’t just say he played well but had a brain cramp at the end and called them “costly errors” implying he “cost” us something. I knew exactly what you were doing. Dallas' Problems

For some time now, I’ve complained about the performance of the front 3 in our 3-4. Have you heard Spears or Igor’s name called today?

Go watch a Pats game and see how Ty Warren disrupts plays.

Watch a Steeler game and see if Aaron Smith gets nothing.

Pick any 3-4 in the NFL, their DE’s outplay ours all day long.

When you couple that with an undersized NT like Rat who CAN be single-teamed by a Jamaal Jackson or a Chris Snee, you get trouble.

The problem on offense is simple. This team has not proven they know how to throw the ball downfield.

Dallas has no over-the-top option and that’s why the idea of big plays doesn’t exist, unless it comes from YAC.

What is really troubling is that the better teams have learned that about us and focused on stopping the run while limiting YAC.

Finally, I must say that Special Teams play has fallen off of a cliff. It’s folk, it’s coverage, it’s everything. DeCamillis needs to turn that group around.

by aussie_cowboy on Dec 6, 2009 6:37 PM CST up reply actions

I disagree.

I think one of the reasons to play a 3-4, with larger than average DE’s, is that hopefully they can take on more double teams allowing their LB’s to make plays. Our De’s don’t do that. OT’s usually can man up on them allowing double teams on Ware and Rat.

My prediction after 4 games…..that may be optomistic now. Wade is the coach because he lets Jerry tell him what to do. That is why Parcells left. He got tired of that SH++. As long as Jerry is the owner and thinks he knows what he is doing…..our team will be losers……and yes I do remember the SB’s of yesteryear. Jimmy put those teams together and Jerry ran him off when he wouldn’t give the big ego enough credit. Joke after joke . Quit going to the games, quit buying their jerseys.

It's December,

and Jerry Jones owns the team. It hasn’t been right since the team that Jimmy Johnson built, got old. It’s been downhill from there, and the common denominator is Jerry Jones. Jerry needs to hire a real GM, step aside, and we’ll see a change. Until that happens, the Cowboys will always just tease us.

Jerry is like the little boy in the candy store with lots of money, and he’ll never share, so……

by foyesboys on Dec 6, 2009 6:36 PM CST up reply actions

Until he steps aside, his meddling will always hamstring this team. Him forcing TO down the Tuna’s throat, eventually led to him leaving. It will be that way with any coach. Jimmy left a winning football team on the verge of 4 in a row, because of Jerry’s meddling. Jerry IS the problem.

I do watch the games

but suggesting that “Dallas sux in dec” is illogical if you suggest that it is a trend that will continue forever.

How bout just Dallas against the giants? They’ve torched our secondary this year.

Sucks he didn't make that pass to Roy

But one play shouldn’t make or break a game and it doesn’t in my opinion.

ya

I think thats Tonys one mistake of the game. Get that and your one stop away from tying it up, but overall, I dont think you can blame Tony for this loss

where he was incredible, consistently making pinpoint throws with guys in his face.

Lost In the Carnage of the Disappointment

Is Romo’s play. The line didn’t help him much, but he played a very smart game, did not turn the ball over—critical in road division games—and found the open receiver. He played much higher than average. All is not lost yet, as long as your QB is playing exceptional.

by kindablue on Dec 6, 2009 6:43 PM CST reply actions

Yeah, and you forgot that one bad throw DOES make everything else he did meaningless. LOL

by kameleon_o on Dec 6, 2009 6:47 PM CST up reply actions

I don't believe it.

There’s absolutely nothing different about this team. Sure, there are still 4 games left in the final stretch, but right now it looks like December still lives.

At least it wasn’t Romo’s fault.

2009 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2009 New York Jets: not 11-5 :(
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25

by Grady90 on Dec 6, 2009 6:43 PM CST reply actions

That is just pure unadulterated superstition

You might as well hire a witch doctor to turn things around when you believe some sinister thing happens when the dreaded calendar turns to December. It’s crazy to believe that way. It just happened that is all, get a grip people

I wrote a fanpost about this.

If the Cowboys do continue to slide this December, they’re out of excuses. There are no locker room cancers. There is no overconfidence.

What would be left, BUT superstition?

Keep in mind that doesn’t mean I’m a superstitious person in general.

Superstition

spreads like a cancer, and then people, fans, media dumbasses, and even the players themselves start to believe it and then it becomes a fact. When something besides executing a play is in your head, you might not have what it takes to win the freaking game. It’s perpetuated because “they” (READ-NOT OUR FRIENDS) want to make it go on and on and on and on, ALL TO OUR DETRIMENT.

Dear God, I wish I could make it stop, it pisses me off

this year

our december is very tough. We could go 1-4 in december and everyone will be like ooo they choked, yet we would be like 1-6 against winning teams, so that shows more that we just regressed to what we were – a slightly above average team who struggles to win against better teams.

I hope to god that doesn’t happen, but if it does, it says more to me about our talent than any crazy other reason.

The first game this

season we lost that Romo threw zero int’s

Players not stepping up today

Ware
Newman
O line as a whole
Bennett

our DEs are nothing but average all day long

by I_miss_Switzer on Dec 6, 2009 6:45 PM CST reply actions

Newman wasn't terrible.

Scandrick was. The Giants have 3 fast quick wrs who are good in space and he just seems to be screwed out there.

by foyesboys on Dec 6, 2009 6:52 PM CST up reply actions

His chase on Steve Smith

was pathetic and scared – I am likely just focussin on that one play though

by I_miss_Switzer on Dec 6, 2009 6:58 PM CST up reply actions

Not sure who you blame, but..

This team can’t get on the same page. The D rolls, the O falls.. O rolls and D and ST fall off. NO sure who you blame, but this loss stinks.

but when they lapse – wow, do they lapse

Does seem like that happening doesn't it

If the entire team can be really good at the same time it would be so nice

realistically, 3 plays totally changed this game

The Jacobs catch and 70 yard run. He barely beat spencer and got around the corner. We had NOONE on that side fo the field. The only one that could stop him was sensi and he was already on the ground. I think we need to give the giants a lot of credit for this – a. their wrs required extra attention which allowed it to happen and b. jacobs is very fast.

The punt return td, where our guys lost containment was another. That was poor all around. Hurrendous tackling.

And finally, the folk missed field goal.

Honestly, these teams were even aside from these plays – it was more of a “whoever gets the ball last will win” game aside from these.

The barber fumble was very very painful too.

So basically…mental mistakes, a tough play on the jacobs run, and a fg kicker whose been suspect.

by foyesboys on Dec 6, 2009 6:48 PM CST reply actions

that is 17 pts.

like 24

but i don’t like looking at it that way. The first game we HANDED them. The second game, they made plays and we didn’t.

by aussie_cowboy on Dec 6, 2009 6:54 PM CST up reply actions

If I had to blame this loss on anyone

it would be the Giants. They played harder.

Leonard Davis. Missed some game changing blocks.

And the refs. The Giants got away with mad holding.

by elharpo on Dec 6, 2009 6:50 PM CST reply actions

that's what really upsets me...

we have road graders on the O-line but yet we can only run when there’s a fullback and 2 tight ends.

by mrbelk on Dec 6, 2009 6:53 PM CST up reply actions

yea this game would've been closer

if the refs made good calls. But as I noted in the post above, they made the big plays and we did not.

by foyesboys on Dec 6, 2009 6:54 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah, like I

said the #1 culprit was the Giants. They simply played better.

by elharpo on Dec 6, 2009 7:12 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah

And they seem to get worse at the end of the season.

Home stretch Cowboy fans

Suck it up. Go to work tomorrow, live your life, see you back here next week, that’s all there is to it. We can only watch and cry or whoop it up. This season isn’t over, it’s the 4th quarter and we’re still in the game.

GO COWBOYS!!!!
