It's time to replace...
Orlando Scandrick. He can't cover the slot anymore, at least not against the Giants' Steve Smith. How many times does Wade have to watch Scandrick miss another tackle on another simple hook route before making the change? Some will correctly observe, "But do we have anyone better?" The solution isn't to bench him, but to move Newman to the slot and Scandrick to the outside.
Yeah, he'd have to learn the technique, blah blah blah. His technique couldn't be worse now, and he killed us today. Move Newman to the slot, Wade.

Scandrick is not the the reason they lost but i admit he did not play well
Barber fumble..Special teams, inability to run the ball was the reason they this game..
Huh?
He’s a second year player. He’s been good before. Players don’t all have linear learning curves.
Who replaces him? Good CBs don’t grow on trees.
I never get this idea that guys have a bad game or stretch of game and people want to cut them.
This is the method that was left to us by Jimmy, everyone loves to quote Jimmy and how he would just
cut a bad player off the team if he needed to set an example.
Jimmy got to live in a world that did not have a salary cap, he could cut all he wanted and Jerry could afford a small purging of players and just move right along. I remember hearing this on msm radio where they invoke Jimmy; he did a real bang-up job in Miami.

Jimmy cut expendable players
Curvin Richards was the best player he cut and he never played when the chips were down. He wasn’t a rotation player. He was a sub. He fumbled in garbage time so Jimmy could cut him to make an example.
Orlando Scandrick is the nickel corner. He’s an important situational sub. If you cut him out of spite, some team will snap him up insert him at corner, coach him up, and when he comes around, laugh at you for the next eight years for giving them a free player at one of the most depth deprived positions in the game.
You have to know what a player is worth. Scandrick is struggling — a lot — but he still has value.
I am not saying that we should cut Scandrick, no, not at all.
I was just bringing up the cut syndrome comes from what Jimmy used to do; but that was in a different era. But that is where this kind of “just cut him” talk stems from on this fanbase.

Remember last year when people were calling Jenkins "Junkins"?
Saying how they wished we would have gotten Aqib Talib, and how Scandrick is gonna be so much better…..
……..crickets.

It's not a bad idea
Teams are targeting Scandrick. Manning two sides of the field isn’t working out for him. He looks like he’s guessing out there.
He can’t be any worse at LCB in the nickel than Jacques Reeves was in ’07.
Aw snap
I knew FOR SURE this was going to be a Nick Folk post, so I clicked, eager to read others tear him to shreds. Instead, it’s a Scandrick thread. I for one still think the guy should stay in the slot. He looked uncomfortable playing outside.
Maybe they could move him to safety, and let Ball play the slot? If not this year, then next?
Epic Fail since 1985
Premature...
2nd year player, he is still growing, last year Scandrick played very well, this year he is in a sophmore slump, wait till at least next year before condemning him

I'll say this....
not being able to cover Steve Smith…is not a reason to get rid of someone.
I’m not sure your guys’ perception of Scandrick outside of Giants games…but I know what Steve Smith does, and that’s not be covered by anyone in the slot.
Champ Bailey was probably the only one to “Shut him down”, and he still had 7 catches for 71 yards.
Steve Smith is legit, kind of a shame that only Giants fans know this.

Those of us who have him in FF know.
I saw a dog today. Have you seen a dog? You probably have. How was school? Was it fun? Did you get a lot of homework? Huh? Do you have any friends? Do you have a best friend? Does he have a big coat, too?

Scandrick is good
but not good enough to cover Steve Smith, put him on Nicks, Manningham on the outside and throw Newman back in the slot to cover Smith…
Why not have Jenkins follow Steve Smith?
Its makes sense to have your best corner on the other teams best wideout. I guess Wade was content to let him kill Scandrick and Ball again.
He simply....
sucks…that guy seemed to be covering the WR on every big play that NY did….
GO COWBOYS !
Scandrick
Incorrect! I think he is a young player with great upside and potential.Give the guy a break he is young ,and is going to make mistakes.Just give him a chance.I mean who else would you rather have out there Cletis Gordon?Scandrick has tremendous upside and will be very good in a couple of years.
newman
had a pretty bad sophomore campaign too.
Great point
Newman was gawd-awful the first 3/4 of the 2004 season…
