not worried about it

Gurode and Bigg will be able to handle him. Plus, he seems like the type of player who will slack off some now that he’s got paid.

All I ever heard about him was that he was an underachiver who stomped Gurode’s face. Then, he lights it up in his contract year and gets paid. I see him going straight downhill from here.

Injury prone 28 year old with a habit of taking plays off. I was almost hoping the Skins would waste their cap space on him

Not good

But one thing that gives me hope – Haynesworth had 5 years in the league of underachieving. He then had a breakout year in his contract year. He did manage to sustain this performance for another contract year after being franchised. But I suspect he is a high risk of underperforming now he has his fat contract…

And now he gets to stand on Gurode’s face twice a year…

Agreed

Chris Mortensen made a great point the D line coach from Tennessee had a lot to do with success of Haynesworth.

But, tough to see how getting a top DL hurts a top 5 D.

yea

while i think he’ll underachieve for his contract size, Haynesorth will still be a force. This division looks like its going to get a lot better through FA (although washington as always way overpaid for what they got).

50/50

doesn’t involve the cowboy organization, but effects our season for the next 3 years though. Anytime a division foe picks up a dominate player it is news you can use.

ok ok ill ease up i suppose

i just would hate to come here and see the fanpost just a bunch of copied quotes with no thought. Especially if its just stating how “random” team signed “random” player. I guess NFC East should news is relevant right now.

i agree Ham....otherwise i would have made this post at about 6 this morning when i heard the news...

We can’t be making posts for every free agent signed by other clubs, including division revails..I am sure everyone was already aware of this transaction…..Cowboy related material please…

You don't think

That this monster contract, won’t have a ripple effect on our ability to sign DWARE???
For that reason alone its fanpost worthy!

See....Like this news

CB Shaun Springs was just released by the Washington Redskins…a possible cheaper option than Anthony Henry…or another option at FS, which I am sure he’d be pretty good at….BUT i’m not going to post this news in a FAN POST !!

by CowboysRnumba1 on Feb 27, 2009 10:44 AM CST reply actions

I wouldn't mind seeing Springs here

Not only do I think he could help us, but it might mean a lot to him that he’s now playing where his dad played.

OR like THIS !!!

Bart Scott JUST became a New York Jet….Breaking NEWS on ESPN !!!!

Looks like Baltimore will surely look to keep Ray Lewis, so if Jerry had any thouts of signing this great Hall of Famer, He better do it now…

by CowboysRnumba1 on Feb 27, 2009 10:53 AM CST reply actions

It doesn't seem like Jerry is going for it...

I get the feeling that he is going to pass on Ray Ray.

Maybe there is someone a little more under the radar they can pick up during free agency. I hope they do something because it looks like they’re loosing players this off-season and not replacing them.

I can’t believe some of you are actually having a poopy diapers moment...

Because I posted this news in a fan post. To me this is very relevant because it effects the Cowboys upcoming season. Especially considering how absolutely awful the Cowboys offensive line was this year. The Redskins defense, which was already good, just got a lot better. The Cowboys have, at best, been splitting the season series with this team for the past few seasons and now that they’ve added Haynesworth it just got a lot tougher.

You can tell yourselves that he’ll just decide to start underachieving now that he has a new contract but if anyone in this division has excelled in underachieving it’s been our beloved Cowboys. I for one hope they still intend to add more depth to the o-line this year and seeing as how they have just tenured Proctor, it doesn’t look as promising as I had once hoped.

The Cowboys need to trim some fat and add some muscle and the early indications are they’re going to leave things as they are. The NFC east is just too tough to put that same team on the field again.

totally agree, we needed to stir up this bowl of festering talent, and has beens

getting rid of overpaid, underachievers, and straight up terrible talent is what I’d prescribe

Roy W
B Johnson
A Henry
G Ellis
P Watkins
Berger
Proctor
McQuistan
Curtis
Carpenter
Hurd

I’d get rid of them all…not just a few…

by CowboysRnumba1 on Feb 27, 2009 8:34 PM CST reply actions

Dont think there is any reason we need to get rid of Hurd or Ellis

I agree with you mostly.....

but I need to make sure that Spencer’s up to the task and that they have an upgrade over Roy W because right now, Jerry’s not addressing it. I’m going out on a limb here, but I’d rather have Roy W than Davis/Watkins. Actually maybe we should just turn it over to Watkins-huh (not).

by texstar on Feb 28, 2009 10:39 AM CST up reply actions

I disagree

proven pass rushers in this league are never easy to replace

In Romo we Trust

by Terry on Feb 28, 2009 10:51 AM CST up reply actions

Yeah, I guess Spencer is a bust...then

Seeing that he was selected to take over for Ellis, three years ago. And there are several OLB’s with pass rush abilities in this years draft…I’m not saying Ellis sucks, but should be looking to get younger, and cost efficient at positions, we drafted his replacement already in Spencer, and if there is a trade option out there, I’d explore it…I don’t like paying 6.5 million for a 3rd down situational pass rusher.

Mike Vrabel was just traded by NE, and Ellis is no Mike Vrabel…imo
