Kitna To Cowboys?
Adam Schefter is reporting that Jon Kitna has been traded to the cowboys..... http://blogs.nfl.com/category/adam-schefter/?icampaign=DW_free_agency_friday
What are y'alls thoughts? I am unsure I like this move. Kitna has had a bad attitude in just about every story I have ever heard about him. I wanted more of a winner to be Tony's backup, but then again I am not making the calls. I hope we did not trade very much for him... Rumor has it that he would have been released.

Why trade for any QB when there are FAs available?
Kitna? are you kidding me? Are Cowboys becoming the Lions South!

Boy, I am starting to get jealous of Cheif's fans
Some nice moves there… 34th overall pick for Cassell and Vrabel. Only time will tell, but its got to be exciting to have Pioli as GM and Haley as HC.

Such a retarded trade
So you get rid of the 40 year old Brad Johnson because he sucks….in turn you take Jon Kitna, a 30 something who ALSO sucks.
Romo better not tear his ACL or else it’s 5-11 for the Cowboys.

he wouldnt
be starting next year. Either Scandrick or Jenkins will.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.

We traded Anthony Henry to the Lions as part of the deal??

I just found that out afterwards....STILL a good deal..
First off….Henry was not going to be the starting CB next season, as Jenkins is clearly younger, faster, and better….Now you may ask if Henry would be a better starter than Hamlin at FS ??..I say no way…He’s slow, injury prone, no longer aggressive, and not good at all in space…..nuff said…You don’t keep reserves that cost over 4 million against the cap.
Newman, Jenkins, and Scandrick are our starting CB’s, with Alan Ball as a vet back up…Look for Jerry to possibly sign Shawn Springs, or someone similiar, and try him at FS, or we’ll pick up some other seasoned vet to add CB depth…or we’ll simply be looking to draft a rookie ( Smith, Delmas, Williams, Chung, Johnson, Vaughn, Greene ) in the draft…and add CB depth.
just scratch off Henry from my list of players mentioned that will be gone before this season begins…:
Brad Johnson
Roy Williams
Anthony Henry
Greg Ellis
Pat Watkins
Joe Berger
Cory Proctor
Pat McQuistan
Sam Hurd
Who’s next off my list ??? Roy Williams, coming soon…

Lol...nice list!
Springs at FS would be something to consider, but isn’t that pretty much what we had in Henry?
Glad we don’t have to worry too much about backup QB anymore, going into the draft.

Springs is far superior to Henry in that regard...He's faster, he's better in man coverage, and he's stronger, and a sure physical tackler...
i have no idea what’s in store with him if he was to come…but that CAN be a role he fills if we don’t find someone better..or 4th CB…..

Kitna may be a Tool but he can play
I like the idea of Kitna as the backup. He is 37 but he’s a capable 37 yr old unlike Checkdown Charlie. He should only be around 1-3 yrs anyway, by then they should have drafted and developed their own QB. Maybe He can help Tony and Roy get on the same page. I think Kitna has had a good career considering the teams he’s started for. IMOP he’s much more capable of leading a Dallas team against a division rival and feeling good about our chances compared to a Grossman, Boller, ect.
About Hnery. I always liked A Hen. He didnt complain and was pretty good when healthy. His first year with the boys he really came on strong. To bad he was rattled by injuries quite often. Like some have said the cowboys must be confident with Jenkins and obviously Scandrick. I think Corner becomes another area to draft or sign a decent FA.

I know he was on some pretty bad teams, but Kitna?
Looking at his stats on nfl.com he only has thrown more tds than interceptions 3 time in his career and on of those was 5 to 4

if Romo doesn't get hurt, you'll never see Kitna anyways...
consensus here is he’s a very adequate back up…….just roll with it..
